  1. Traditions Pursuit LT 50cal....100gr tri7 and 245 powerbelts......it's a break open and I like it's lightness...easy clean and load...took a doe first time out with it...but she hasn't been out for a while ....now they opened rifle down at camp...and It gets too darn cold for muzzle season...besides I normally fill my tags any how....
  2. Ya I'm hoping that all the winter wheat that they planted in the corn fields grows real fast in the next 17 days...to the point it's not as tasty ...they planted it just a few days ago and it's up a couple of inches already!...Rain ..rain...rain and ect...holy cow I have turnips the size of muskmelons
  3. If you think that's tough...I have what Mr B refers to as the"cabin" brush blind...it is 90 yrds from the house and in clear view of the PC room....I just watched three fawn walk down the Sucraseed trail...turn step over the downd log and walk up to the blind...two went out front of it and one circled around the back side entrance...and is bedded IN IT!thank heavens they waited untill day light...the school bus spooked them and their moms out of the field...and Oh the button buck tried mounting one of the doe fawns...Coffee and a show...got to check out the new range finder too
  4. I luv them....they help with the trespasser...can be trimmed back in to manageable paths the turkey grouse and deer feed and bed in them...if it's in an area that I want to manage for wildlife sanctuary...our swamp... they are a bonus...this is where ..for the next couple of years I have carved out a well hidden bath to nail the trespassing problem I'm having ...Oooh won't they be surprised!!.. wild grape..timber > and buck thorn...3 in spikes and multiply worse than autumn olive! ...which I see has taken over our state
  5. guys that really was a ? and I've looked on the web and couldn't find any thing....so from experience...do you know if it's the turnips they are checking out...or the high sugar rye grasses?
  6. Because other than the foot prints I had found right after planting them and the corn...I was skirting that now mature field and found a chunk of blk course hair with a felt type core to it about the size of a base ball...I knew right off it was bear and then had a few others confirm it......the deer and turkey wiped out the soybeans...so it's the Sucra seed or turnips ...because the corn is just tasseling out.....a few small ears just getting silk
  7. that's a busy stand area....hope they let you get in there with out bumping them ....I had to abandon a stand for a couple of years....deer started using it as a bedding area and it never failed I always bumped deer laying under it...lol...Good luck ...Hunt safe
  8. Well Eddie....I placed a stand on the new land right where I know ....from neighbors observations over the years....has been hunted.....so I cable and chain locked it and cut a path from the road side that know one can really see ...it will be a mile hike to get to it ...so no one will see a car....any how I have tried your fix and like it .but the pins make a bit of noise....so I bought heat shrink...and covered the pins in heat shrink and placed duck tape on the hanging bars too cut noise....I also ty-strap the platform....just cut it and replace with a new one...they are cheap ......Thanks for the idea
  9. what a great deal...but please make an orange carry cover for him...more ppl are shot in turkey season than deer
  10. Ok guys ....new to this whole sights on your bow thing....and since putting on the rear and front sight....believe me all TIGHT....because I'm so afraid of anything messing up a shot......the peep eliminator came with rubber spacers for noise ...the truglo not...dang my bow seems loud to me now...I have an older Hoyt...and use limb savers in limbs and string....any suggestions?
  11. that chain saw one makes me laugh!!...some years ago I was in my stand and a few hundred yrds away on anothers property I hear this chain saw...I listen and it starts...then stops and so on with several minutes pause in between...and from what I'm hearing in my 20 ft perch...it sounds like it's in the trees?!...Well It starts to drive me a bit nuts...really this went on for a while...later I find out ...that it was in the trees and the guy was trying to attract deer...Sweet Jimminy...he was sitting on the edge of a alfalfa field...what more would you really need during bow season...not sure if it was a kids toy chain saw or what...just annoying....lol
  12. OMG those are great pictures...thanks for sharing
  13. I've seen those...so you can tye a string to it and while in stand have the doe bleat at ground level......too bad the ones I've gotten stop working if they get damp....still use a hands free mouth call
  14. Thanks for the reply CNY...well as far as bad shots go...it depends on what direction the deer is headed...for any bad shot would tend to pull to the left...but...that being said...This was when I shot instinctive....since going to the new peepless rear and truglo front sight the only bad practice are a bit low or a bit high of the mark...I also have a new VLR Arc range finder due to arrive in a couple of days...last years doe I took with an on sale cut on contact broad head..100gr...and it went through the shoulder and dropped her in her tracks at 20 yrds.....But I do have concerns about the shooting an 85 gr broad head....won 12 of them....they are the "zero plane" heads...reviews on all these have been good ...so ..4wks of shooting should tell...may just save the 85 as a turkey/yote arrow.......
  15. We have a lot of turkey and I see them and their sign all the time...that said this is a new one....walked down and stacked some fire wood this after noon...On the way back I cut along the edge of the turnip /corn field...and on the edge of the turnips about 12 x20 I counted no less than 13 fresh dusting bowls....I have never seen that many in one small area before ....have you?
  16. Orion ...really perfect ...let me tell you about that...lets see nearly shot 3x's on my own property....by the way hundreds of feet from line....Our daughter her first time out nearly shot...law enforcement not doing any thing to help...me letting them know these guys would shoot and kill someone one day...three years later they did! Then you have being nearly shot out of a 16ft tree stand 20 min before season was to open...Oh lets not forget the being asked who the hell I though I was in the middle of my own land...hey how about the guy that told me to go f myself because he was hunting 50 ft off our chicken coop Oh how about at 8pm ..my dogs start barking so I go down our path behind the house...no flash light in the dark to find 4 camo glad guys running a round...PS all my house lights were on...imagine there surprise..one took off.... Hey I live in a perfect world...Not ...but I'm happy for some of you that live in Utopia...really I am
  17. Beef farmer next door had just a few rows left...while mowing I heard him cutting the rest and I kicked up a flock of turkey in our woods...and found feathers all over the trails ;D ...32 days and counting
  18. Seriously?...ppl that know me ..hunt and if not are family...so no calls there...and any one else...well my neighbors are on my contact list sooo...they pop up on the screen....allowing me to..... that's right answer what calls need answering....see how flimsy excuses become :
  19. Orion....first I live here..there is no way they can't reach me...excuse #1 I did say cell phone didn't I?...ya know..... those little 2x4in electronic wonders ppl have stuck to their ears All the time....well mine is in my front pocket and charged nightly......DUCK...there goes excuse # two Deer don't rot with in a couple of hours...in these hills the temps this time of year.. usually run 5-10 degrees colder than any where else...see how simple it is...unless...thats right...there isn't a blood trail that starts off my property....
  20. a month early...they say the pumpkins are all a month or more early as well...I have to say I'm surprised...because we have had so much rain...the grass wouldn't dry up enough to mow even with a day or two of dry weather...wind is here so I'm hoping for today.....I suppose the silage they chop it for makes the difference?...This will give 4weeks for the critters to clean up those fields and move along...hey fall turkey may be easier Good Luck all..........
  21. Went to camp and they were finishing up some of the surrounding fields...got home and ALL the corn in the area has been chopped....Yee ha...all those buck and doe hiding in those hundreds of acres of corn will be hitting the surrounding wood lots...apple trees...swamp and food plots....and my little stand of corn
  22. I'm with Doc on this and won't apologize for my position All signs 60-80ft apart have my name and cell # I have contacted(went door to door) and gave info to all that boarder me and gotten their info Explained that should a deer cross the line call me...don't walk over if you see orange..I'm HUNTING...call me...I will help track ..gut...and drag If you or a buddy are on my land with out me ..You could be a relative and by Heaven I will have you arrested for trespassing period. Oh and yes been there done that on other issues with relatives...just in case you rolled your eyes I was at camp one year and the guys all went to the store...I decided to still hunt down the hill...I get to with in 300yrds of the property line and big doe pops upright infront of me....I pull up and just as I get a bead On her shoulder a piece of orange catches my eye...There on the other side of the retreating doe pops the head of the neighbor that borders down the hill from us...100ft away walking up the hill towards me ...ONE...I could have easily shot him...TWO he could have shot me!!...When I called out he wanted to knew what I was doing?...and said he'd watched the trucks leave..SO!!!! This is the same guy that ...yes we had all lost deer to...for we'd ask permission and he'd say no then go look for the deer....we stopped asking and then still wouldn't go look....It took my first buck...6pt and I learned to shoulder shoot...pass on shots for another day...but never trespassed ..for there is no good reason no matter how you word it
  23. Yep the cold effects your equipment ...making it harder to draw changing arrow speed...I was taught never to expect the same shooting in warm weather as in cold ...love the cold mornings of practice...last year bow opener had me sitting in 6 inches of snow ..at camp....I have to say...we've had so much rain this summer....I'm looking forward to any thing but a rainy season :
  24. Well then your nose is off WNYBH...really jealousy?....nice... the guy was pointing out the truth....not in a lot of pics but there are some obvious mineral lick sites with dug down areas...Come on....most are just plots or good trails...or the ppl were SMART enough not to point the cam in the direction of ...what ever they put down...inferring someone is jealous because they pointed out what every NY hunter should know is illegal is just petty....JMO
