  1. TF...I'm joining you out here for a quick hunt before work. Only have until about 830....then that's the season for me. Have to be at work early tomorrow morning. Good luck to you. So far the roost area here is dead quiet this morning again.
  2. Wow, scary how fast it escalates. Prayers sent for a speedy recovery for your nephew.
  3. My area's been a turkey ghost town the last 3 days. Not a turkey seen or heard so far
  4. Out for day 3 of my 3 day weekend from work. Nothing sounding off from the roost area yet. I think I'm in for another long quiet day of turkey hunting. I'm starting to wish I had shot one of those two Jakes that I called in the first week.
  5. Out at it again in 8F. Woods were dead silent yesterday. Hopefully more active today. Nothing sounded off from a roost spot and except for some distant crows all's quiet here
  6. Finally off from work and out this morning. Feels good to be out here again, hopefully a love sick bird will decide to cooperate.
  7. A few really distant gobbles between 5:45 - 6:00, nothing since. Really starting to think I should have blasted that Jake that I passed on 5/2
  8. Thank you for tossing the pics up for me Moho!
  9. I keep trying to add pics but keep getting message that I can only upload pic size of 81.92kb. I dont understand because I use to be able to upload pics from my phone all the time...I know, prob some simple fix but I'm about as computer illiterate as they come.
  10. Update: Got my buck scored lastnight and he made P&Y as a Typical Bow 10Pt, Gross Score 144-0; Net Score after deductions 136-5/8.
  11. I picked up a 2018 Sportsnan 570 last Sept...Love it. No issues with it so far. I was out with mine about a week ago chain sawing some trees that were blown down across my main trail through the woods. Good luck with your new toy.

    Holy Crap!!!

Wow, congrats on a great buck and a sweet looking mount!
  13. Rac, The books were at my house waiting for me when I got home from work today. Thank you very much. I see that you threw in the Pronghorn book as well...thanks again. I've got some reading to do during this weekends forecasted snowstorm.
  14. So sorry to hear of your loss. Prayers sent.
  15. Hopefully it's not too bad. My daughter is getting married on Saturday.
  16. I'll buy the elk one if it's still available. Actually have been saving Colorado preference points and prob heading up either this Sept or next.
  17. Suddenly, I'm not missing the Live From the Woods thread as much anymore
  18. Nope, after those I forgot what this thread was originally about!
  19. Db, DEC didn't age him at 10.5 yrs old. I said he's a 10Point and the DEC aged him at 5.5 yrs old.
  20. No, not at all...I didn't take any comments from anyone as negative.
  21. Couldn't agree more that the thrill and trophy of the hunt or harvest lays in the eyes of the hunter and memories created/shared with friends and family. The number of antler inches isn't what makes the deer or any game animal the trophy but the totality of the hunt from preseason prep and scouting, time I the woods, hunting, friends and family, the celebratory beers with friends after during butchering, and so much more. The thrill is in everything about the hunt as a whole. As I said in my original post, every legal harvest is a trophy regardless of size...it's what's in the hunter's heart when he decides to pass on a certain animal or to as we love to say, send it. Over the years I have taken my fair share of does, some younger, smaller bucks, and I have taken some more mature bucks. Each and every one is a trophy to me and I guarantee that I was proud, thrilled, and smiling from ear to ear with each harvest regardless of the number of inches it was or wasn't sporting on its head. So, I don't feel a score of inches is needed to make it or any deer a trophy. For me it's just attaining a goal that I set for myself in my younger years...I have just always wanted to tag a P&Y. I will have him scored and the jury is still out on whether or not I'll actually submit the paperwork to P&Y if he in fact meets the minimum score.
