  1. So nice to hear everyone else's drop stories. LOL Some funny situations we get our selves into in the woods. I am part of the dropping the bow out of the stand club also. 2 years ago my bow played pin-ball with a cedar tree. Bow survived, but I do think the tree won the battle. Especially since my whole quiver of arrows was broken. I will say that one by far has been my worst drop to date. I will say that I made it through the whole evening hunt without dropping anything. I was on the ground, but hey baby steps. LOL
  2. Well this mornings hunt will have to go down as "I should have stayed in bed". Started off with opening the dryer, and hunting cloths not dry. Guess someone forgot to turn on the dryer. Wasn't me!!!!! But of course I was blamed by the wife. So I took the blame, we grabed other cloths, and headed to the woods. Climbed into the stand, which is about 30ft in the air. Within 30 seconds of being in the stand, I drop my hat out of the stand., and of course that is not a scent attractant you want to use. So it was back down the tree to get it, and back up. After about a minute of being back in the stand, I start getting stuff out of my backpack. I pull out my camera arm for the tree, set it on the seat, turn to the left to screw in the attachment, and knock the arm off the seat. Of course, all the way to the ground!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not to mention that it hit the ladder steps 3 times on the way down. I'll tell you what metal to metal in the early a.m. makes a whole lotta freaken noise. Again down the tree, and back up. This time in the tree I get completely set!!!!!!!!! It gets to be about 15 minutes after light, so I reach for my grunt call, pull it out of my pack, and it decides to jump right out of my hand, hit the ladder once, and then fall all the way to the ground. At this point I was not going back down the tree again. So I decided to sit, and about 40 minutes later, I get an attack of "I have to go to the bathroom, and I have to go now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I figured that after alerting all the deer within 10 miles that I was hunting atleast twice, and about to make a mess of my self, that my morning hunt was over. Sometimes you have hunts that you will never forget, and you don't even see the first deer. LOL I will say that my wife, and father-in-law got a kick out of this when they just heard the story, hope everyone else enjoys it too. Now I'm going to go back to bed where I should have stayed LOL LOL LOL .
  3. New article published in a Maryland newspaper. Enjoy everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! http://www.delmarvanow.com/article/20121104/SPORTS/311040036
  4. LOL np man. Hey its ok, I know my baby looks good in camouflage
  5. Best of luck man. You two are going to have so much fun. This year my wife and I will be hunting together for the 4th year. She has come so far, and loves it just as much as I do. We have an absolute blast sharing the woods together.
  6. My wife took her first deer of the season this morning. She had a long bow season of everything staying out of range. It was so awesome to hear her gun go off this morning. This was the first deer she has taken sitting by her self. So proud of her!!!!!!!!!! traci buck.bmp
  7. Saw my second mature buck with a doe, this morning. This make anyone else nervous? Don't like seeing the mature bucks locked up with the does. From past seasons this usually means things are slowing down. Can't be yet, we havent had those crazy days yet. Any thoughts?
  8. Great question. I have to agree with WNY, most everything I have read is that their hearing is not much different than ours. From watching them their ears are always on the moving. Constantly alert to every sound around them. I look at it like this, the woods are the deers home. If you hear a noise in your house, you will know if its a normal sound our not.
  9. When is the best time to use deer scents, and what types?? I've never trusted scent much, but occasionally it works for me. I always feel that the mature deer know whats up.
  10. A little wild turkey wrapped in bacon, with a cubed backstrape over the open fire. Great campfire snack while you share stories (lies).
  11. sorry thought I loaded a pic earlier.
  12. wanted to post this pic for people using our app. Here are the screenshots in order, to put in deer sign. This pic is of a trail, and a scrape.
  13. Nothing wrong with an early Thanksgiving dinner on a slow bow morning
  14. Other people can not see your data unless you group with them. Only members of your Hunt Groups will see your data or your position on the map. We are in the process of getting the global server up and running now, but you will still only see your Hunt Groups data. There will be State alerts and overall alerts throughout the country, but your data is your own to use. It is not public knowledge.
  15. awesome buck man!!!!!!!!! Even sweeter having trail cam pics of him. Congrats!!!!!!!!!
  16. I can say that most early scrapes are the smaller bucks. Not to say that a big buck will not make a scrape early, but majority are the youngsters. Check out our app man you can start patterning these bucks on your property. Along with the rutting activity around.
  17. This will be the 2nd year for me using my Triumph Bonecollector, and I've been shooting Shockwaves. Anyone shot another round??? I don't think I am getting the knock down power from the Shockwaves, but I will say it is a very accurate round.
  18. exactly!!!! DL is helping show us now, when the deer are moving. I have been out in the woods all week, and movement is staying pretty much the same. I don't think they have much to worry about with all the acorns. I have seen a lot more Buck Log alerts in the last couple days from Hunt Group members, so I hope this storm doesn't mess with the Rut to much. Big bucks are starting to move, would love for it to stay that way.
  19. What's the best time to hunt before this storm that's gonna hit the east coast? Before or after?
  20. DeerLogic success!!!! After a few scouting trips off and on since July, in an area I frequently hunted about 15 years ago. I was studying my DL, and started to see a pattern of trails, rubs, scrapes, and sighting logged by myself and some hunt group members. I used all the data, and the map itself to make my decision on where I would use my climber. I set a way point on the map, and away I went the next morning. I followed my DL straight to where I wanted to sit, and sat the area for 2 days. I saw 7 deer, at all times of the day. The last one to came in was this nice 8ptr. He came into 12yds, I was able to make a great lung shot, and he took a dirt nap about 50 yds away. Bitter sweet taking a deer after putting all the pieces of the puzzle together, using my DL. Then being able to log a mint "Harvested Deer!!", and knowing that an alert went out to all my hunt group members leting them know that I just harvested a buck. Can't wait to see who will be next!!!
  21. Yeah he is getting mounted for sure, thanks for all the comments everyone. They do stink something fierce.
  22. DeerLogic is set up for individual use or Hunt Groups. You can log all your data and if you choose to group with someone they get your data. You have the ability to see each other while hunting, and certain parts alert you when logged. Like harvested deer, when you log a harvested deer, a DL alert goes out to all your hunt group members that you got one, and they can see where you have killed it. Buck logs are alerts because most of the time a Buck Log is something that everyone whats to know about. Thats where the tracking comes in, you name your deer and log where ever he is seen. Through deer sign, and deer sightins, hopefully you are able to pattern him and get in his path for a harvest. Using DeerLogic this season has put our prostaff on some really good deer, and helped everyone feel safer in the woods. Follow your local laws and regulations!!!!!!!!!
  23. I have no idea if you can use radios in your area. I can tell you DeerLogic is not a radio it is a mobile app for a cell phone. Shouldn't matter, but check you local hunting regulations.
  24. Wanted to share the article a newpaper printed about us on the front page of the sports page here in VA. The safety aspect of our app is great for Outfitters, due to being able to see client in the woods, and also clients having stand locations and way points logged before they arrive at the ranch. Hope you enjoy!!!!!!!!! http://hamptonroads.com/2012/10/hunting-deer-theres-app Best of luck this season!!!
