  1. I thought it was too early to plant but I was not able to get to the camp for another 2 or 3 weeks. The field does face south so it gets fun sun all day long. I'll just cross my fingers.
  2. Yes, have a rotary mower. I can cut the rye if it gets out of control
  3. I have looked at Delaware County's online maps and saw that they are not very accurate. The map shows two different neighbor's boundries encroaching into other properties. I can only assume that many other parcels are incorrect also.
  4. Hey Bigpaul Where are you in Delaware County?
  5. It's an attempt to build up the soil when not producing turnips. I'll turn under the rye in August. I'm sure the deer & turkeys will benefit from the rye until then. The field will grow two crops in one year. I guess it can't hurt to try.
  6. Since all the turnips have been devoured in one of my main plots, I decided to plant rye this past weekend. The ground turned over easily, no frost. I'm not sure if was too early to plant or if the seeds will even germinate. I'll just turn it over again in August for the nitrogen before the turnips get planted again. Does anyone have any idea if this planting will grow if planted this early?
  7. Timber stand improvement and preparing foods plots. Always preparing for future hunts.
  8. I wonder how much he charges for delivery?
  9. Looking good! keep up the hard work, it will be a great feeling when you down that first nice buck
  10. Hi All, Here are the results of our 2015 late season Colorado eastern plains mule deer hunt. Had a great time and saw even larger bucks but the wind was playing tricks on us in that open terrain. Mine scored 188" and Joe's was 183". Going back when I can accumulate more preference points in 7 years. Hope I live that long!
  11. I would still have a guy with a cat loader with ripper teeth come in and do the work. The machine would do the job in a fraction of the time of a skid steer and will remove a lot of the roots also. The teeth are spaced far enough apart to let the top soil sift through. Save the manual labor for more important things like lime, fertilizing and planting. God made big machines for a reason
  12. You are complaining about the tape being placed in the trees to keep the deer on his side of the line. What about the deer that were traveling from your land onto his? Or maybe that is ok? I know that I have only been hunting for over 40 years, but don't deer travel both ways on paths.
  13. 100 grns of granular 777 with a 240 grn sabot - hollow point Hornady. It does the trick
  14. Are you hunting moose this year?
  15. I've never backed down from anybody, especially when I'm in the right.
  16. I never needed to call the trooper, I went to all adjoining landowners and politely asked the adults to tell their kids to stop riding on my land. Maybe I'm lucky that I have good neighbors
  17. I had a problem with atv / trespassers many years ago. I called the local State Police barracks and asked for advice on how to handle the situation. The officer on duty told me that when I stop the atvers, I should remove the key from the machine. He gave me his mobile phone # and said he would come right over to confiscate the bike.
