  1. The stand was removed from where I had left it on the other side of the wall. i'm sure the guy was disappointed when he return to use it. I still don't know who placed it on my neighbors land.
  2. I'm paying $2,700.00 per year for house, barn and 210 acres in Delaware County. Have the land in the forestry program. I think this is very reasonable. The timber harvest rotation is every 12 - 14 years, this pays for all expenses and puts many dollars in my pocket too. This year's harvest is paying for a dall sheep hunt next year. Spark should look at all the land-tax options, ie Agriculture and Forestry. As for fencing, most properties around me are bordered with beautiful stone walls. Much nicer to look at than wire. There is good deer & turkey hunting but you will not find a 170" buck in Delaware County.
  3. I shoot the Federal Premium, 20 ga. 2 3/4". I found they shoot truer than the 3" from my gun.
  4. It's easier to ask the question than it is to spend the time looking for the answers.
  5. I held on her back bone with first shot and missed. I thought the round hit low so I held 6"s higher. She dropped in her tracks when the round went through the shoulder. I would not encourage the average shooter to do this, but I do a lot of shooting off the bench.
  6. That is one heck of a gun, I shot a doe at 279 confirmed yards two years ago. The 2 3/4" federals shoot the best out of my gun. Mine is a 20 gauge, stainless barrel with synthetic stock topped with a Leopold BDC. Someone should buy it
  7. I checked on the area again this past weekend. The stand is still where I placed it on the other side of the wall. I'm sure the person has not returned since I removed the stand. He will be in for a let down when he looks for it in the dark on opening morning. Hum, what tree did I put that darn stand in, why can't I find it?
  8. I'm not out to make enemies, just want him to stay away
  9. Even though the land parcel abuts my property, I need to do as my neighbor wishes for his land. If that trespasser encroaches on mine, i will definitely get the ECO involved. I'll be sure to walk by the area many times during the hunting season. BTW, I looked at the tax map and discovered that the trail / land he entered from is owned by an absentee landowner. I'm sure he does not have permission to be there either. These parcels are very large, about 200 acres in size and not patrolled very often.
  10. I was reposting my neighbor's property line this weekend and found where someone had knocked down a section of his rock wall to drive a quad through it. There is a poster sign directly in front of where the wall was taken down so there is no excuse for playing dumb. This person made a quad trail onto my neighbor's land by cutting lots of saplings and brush. I followed the new trail to a newly installed ladder stand approx. 200 yards into my neighbor's property. I am the only person he allows to hunt there. I rebuilt the wall and removed the stand and placed it back on the other side of the wall. My neighbor does not want to be confrontational with his neighboring property owner and it quite possibly may be someone trespassing on him too as the properties are very large. The stand was placed in a spot where he could shoot onto my land too. I followed my neighbor's wishes but I would get the DEC involved if this happened on my land. Any thoughts?
  11. I bought the last 3 blueberry bushes from our local Tractor Supply. Planted them over the weekend. Looking forward to eating them in a few years
  12. Thanks for the heads up, I'll check out the Sidney store this weekend
  13. I'm sure using a tiller in very rocky soil is not good for the PTO unless you use a slip clutch
  14. I stopped by Davis Sports in Sloatsburg to pick up this year's hunting license the other day. I was rejected for my landowner 4O tag but got my 3M tag. The kid behind the counter said this is the first rejection he has seen this year for landowner. I called the DEC and was told that they will mail me my tag in a few weeks. DEC also said that they are having computer problems and over 600 landowners have been denied. Now I'm biting my finger nails hoping that it will show up in the mail. My friend was denied his tag at the same store a couple of years ago, he called DEC and they sent him 2 landowner tags. Go figure Has anyone else been denied their landowner tag this year?
  15. I've tried everything on my rocky hard pan soils. The best solution that I have found is to initially use a two bottom plow to loosen the first 10"s of ground then disc to even out the hilled rows. I use my chisel plow with springs on each tooth every year after. I'm still picking rocks after 15 years but they are getting smaller
  16. Hey Biz Sounds like you want him to purchase the land for your future needs and not his Too bad
  17. I agree with your Dad. There is nothing like having your own land to hunt, work and relax on. My place is in Delaware County also, I'm 57 years young and will buy more land if any becomes available that abuts mine. My neighbors think I'm nuts because I work dawn to dusk on food plots and forest improvement every time I'm there. I tell them the outdoor work is my mental therapy and that's the truth. Encourage him and help with what ever he wants to do. You only get one father in life. Maybe your father and I have evolved into having the satisfaction and pleasure of not needing to see herds of deer and 180" bucks, but knowing there is not another hunter sitting behind the next tree. There is nothing stopping him from hunting on his own land and taking trips also. It will also be a great place for grandchildren to bond with Grandpa
  18. Very nice trophies. I think you need a bigger house
  19. Congratulations!! a young outdoorsman I hope
