  1. i know you have it out for me... but please man
  2. please quote me. i wont respond, but prove your point by quoting my posts where i boasted of my HUNTING excellence. and grow, never said it was proper just that it's more common. I'm done. this has been carried out long enough. nocker i in fact spend a lot of time in maintenance sections helping the n00bs. I enjoy it. You can even find here where i have lend advice more than i have "attacked". guys lets call it a day i have meetings to go to. It's been fun.
  3. ugh... again personal attacks. I never stated I didn't start it. Man you guys keep throwing out points with no quotes or facts to prove it. I merely stated you're all hypocrites resorting to taking the bait and coming back with insults greater than those I made to no individual in particular. I have a 100 something posts, and I'm an instigator because of 2 threads? I receive no credit for the healthy posts? You don't know anything about me as a person and the reason I removed my pictures and some of my affiliations is that I realize this is a public forum and that I have pissed some people off and I'd rather keep my identity private because who I am is nothing like the image some of you have conjured up. However, I did extend an offer to the board to sit down for beers. for what it's worth while they may not support my way of going about it, my stance on crossbows is shared by many http://www.newyorkbo...s.com/xbow.html ha. you'll run with this, but the car I own isn't owned by 16-24 year olds ya gotta stop feeding me man.
  4. You just proved my point. A broad brush, by definition is not a personal attack. For it to be personal I'd need to call you out by name like 5 or 6 have done to me. And if i insulted every member that means you're all fat smokers stomping around the woods in orange jump suits during gun season. I've got the impression that this board does indeed have a few of those, but have seen plenty of members with great knowledge and hunting ability much greater than mine and that's why I joined. Again, I came to learn, discuss and debate. Debating generally will have disagreements and even more so, on the internet we lead to name calling and insulting and it appears this crowd is a lot more sensitive then the car forums i belong too. is what it is. I'm done with this thread and deer season is done for me so I'll see some of you in turkey/duck/coyote threads.
  5. those were not personal attacks. It's obvious you have issues with my standards, but spending 9 sits in the stand all season and seeing deer everytime and shooting a 150lb 5 point with a bow and 130lb nice 6 with a gun is not the same thing as blasting button bucks. Yes i have a 3 month old and didn't hunt to my usual standards. i've already admitted this.
  6. usually seems to be the lynx you hear about. I wish these big cats were around.I'm anxiously awaiting the black bear's movement into 8f and 7j haha.
  7. i own a mossberg 835 turkey and duck barrels. I'd recommend the small increase in cost for the 835 over the 535 though. Your shoulder will thank you. I have a browning gold edition for deer. But really you can get a nice 835, buy 3 barrels (1 rifled for slugs) and put a scope on it and you're set for most new york game for about $800. I'm currently rifle shopping as well and looking at the remington 700 and winchester model 70 but people are steering me towards the browning A bolt and I like that idea... I'm also torn on 30-06 or 308...
  8. 2 years ago i had a bow shot from 35' in the air basket 8 point cornering towards me at about 20 yards. The arrow sliced a lung but came out the bottom of the stomach. I had 3 drops of blood and a green arrow. I was sick thinking i had gut shot the deer. After backing out for 3 hours and 2 hours of just wandering around the woods I lucky to find him. His intestines had plugged the exit hole. Most shots are lethal... it's just that some are hard/impossible to track and others are easy.
  9. bahahah probably the best advice here. only take it if you dont have the later. And I hope nobody takes neck shots to save meat over the heart/lungs. I love me a slow cooked neck roast in the crock pot.
  10. a big reason to hunt from a tree is that it can provide more shots than being on the ground and can help with scent and movement. That all being said I think you need a good solid stand/cover and in sometimes decent height for that to matter. I've had success with climbers but have always preferred fixed stands as they can be higher up and your lanes are always trimmed. I've killed some nice deer from the ground but I have never got one stalking. Most dont have the patience for it. I'd be wary of stalking state land as well.
  11. isn't that the truth? unfortunately with NYC attached to the empire state you can only cast your vote and hope others will eventually follow.
  12. holy crap. hard to debate if its real i see the bright green tag right there. Congrats to him!
  13. ha. at first glance i saw homomade camo. Anyhow, I've done the tyvex as well but eventually ended up with a walls bib/parka combo a few years back.
  14. And I think control of the vehicle is the gray area right? If they're in your pocket many say you are in control and looks like a few members have actual history. For what it's worth though, that link is from a practice in Georgia and every state has different laws Funny thing is that it looks like even attorneys in new york have varying answers if you read through this page http://www.lawqa.com/qa/can-you-legally-get-dui-sleeping2
  15. So your days of "argueing" (I believe you were going for arguing) are over but you'll make an exception for me? There's now at least 6 of you on this board who are offended by me for my "tude" but then hypocritically turn around and personally attack me (against forum rules); which again to this day I have not personally attacked a single one of you. I've already stated that I have a good career and a family of my own, but if you believe I sit in my parents basement playing videogames that's fine, I'm not here to try and impress. I'm done with this particular thread and yes, I do kill some time on the web having exaggerated debates. It's fun, sounds like most of you haven't visited many other forums. Am I trolling a little? Maybe... but you keep feeding me. Please be aware that if you'd like to sit down at a bar and discuss crossbows over a beer I'd be glad to. I will once again stick to my beliefs on crossbows and if you can stick to yours without personally assaulting me like you have done "over your keyboards" than I bet we could get 4 or 5 down and agree to disagree without an issue. Shoot maybe we'd end up going fishing or duck hunting someday.
  16. Why? I haven't broken any forum rules. I have attacked nobody personally, yet all the members below have attacked me personally. Way too many serious people here. This is not me in real life. It's the internet. It's a playground and we're debating and having fun. And Bubba... you can keep your prescription pills, all I need for sanity is some alone time in a tree or to hold my baby boy.
  17. i am not against a late season crossbow. I do not however agree that a crossbow that autococks, has a trigger and a scope should be allowed during bow season. I mean with your logic... why do we even have seasons? Lets just shoot whatever we want from 10/1 to 11/18 every year right?
  18. awww please ban me for bringing some debate to this site. i didn't know i had to start threads to be a contributing member. Look at my posts in a month. You want a popular forum you need people like me. I'm hear to debate and kill time and I'm bound to ruffle some feathers, but please read all my posts and realize i've already helped some out with advice and congratulated many on deer. Did you see my post in the thread about prayer? let me answer some questions. 1. All I hunt is private land that family members or that I own myself (yes at the age of 29 I own some chunks of land) does that stick in your craw? Does it bother you I have a white collar job and I'm successful and I hunt ethically and I'm picky at what I shoot? 2. No matter how much land you own you'll have neighbors. Mine currently in 2 spots hunt the hell out of the woods during gun. But they're lazy and all I would need is crossbow season for them to start screwing up my bow season. 3. I have killed turkey, coyote, fox, squirrel, pheasant, chipmunk, duck, goose, deer, woodchuck, racoon, rabbit, crow and other bird but you're right never outside the state. got me their. I'm a n00b. 4. you dont have to like me. not hear to make friends. it's the internet. I'm hear to debate, discuss and learn about hunting. i dont think you need to waste server space letting me know that I bug you. I dont care. 5. I'm not alone as an anti-crossbow advocate. There's a whole organization that I belong to that is against it. I'm finding this board however is very sensitive and touchy feely whenever someone disagrees with another. hush hush children. dont debate anything that may involve others getting upset on the internet... 6. Finally, what I said is only offensive if you are in fact a fat pumpkin cigarette smoking yee-haw. If you're not; why are you offended? And if you smoke or you're fat you're a burden on our health care system. Guess what? I'm a type 1 diabetic. Have been since 5. Is my leg amputated? Am I in and out of the hospital? No. I take care of myself just like all you should and learn to shoot a compound.
  19. sorry if i dont want all the pumpkin 870 toting cigarette smoking yee-haws i see during gun season messing up my bow season. You can call it an elitest attitude all you want, but because bow hunting is difficult the numbers are much smaller than gun and those that do bowhunt are generally truly dedicated. Listen, your gun season is 4 weeks long followed by a week of muzzleloader. there is no reason to throw in a piece of equipment that autococks with a scope into the bow season. and all you recurve/longbow fools can suck a fat one too. You know your argument is pitiful as a compound still takes many hours and years to truly master. Hunt all you want over your bait pile out of your redneck blind with your buckcommander crossbow during the regular season. Then please post pictures of your doe on here proclaiming to all you dont care and that you're a meat hunter. /rant
  20. we're not debating the OPs issue. we're in agreement. My argument all started with the proclamation that shotguns are more dangerous than rifles. I have one spot i hunt that is a 4acre parcel but only do so with a bow eventhough i am 500' from dwellings because i know even in a tree and being a good shot that my neighbors would not be happy and neither would I.
  21. you're right. i misread that. my bad.
  22. dude how about not just throwing out random stories and point to an article or study? I think you will find maybe 3 ricochets last year http://www.dec.ny.go...fetystats11.pdf
  23. i shoot lightfields. expensive but they've never done me wrong.
  24. Sorry if this was already posted. I got a chuckle. Read the caption
  25. i dont remember if he was still at the bar or had driven a while then pulled over and got in the back, but hew was arrested. Moral of the story is that I'd be careful. Cops watch bars.
