  1. Dry rub with salt , pepper, garlic powder, pan seared, the a little peter luger steak sauce on top.
  2. I wouldnt personally shoot thru twigs with a .270. 30-06 or 30-30 might be a better round if you have alot of brush around where you hunt but still tough call to shoot thru brush. Just might have to cut more lanes and be patient.
  3. Nice buck must be proud..Correct me if im wrong please, not starting an argument because we need more youths interested in hunting, but i thought 13 year olds can only hunt small game in new york. But i see your from New Jersey and im not familiar with the regs there.
  4. I know where i am, just like alot of people, the pressure of the first week really drives the deer in to a nocturnal pattern. Late rifle and muzzleloader can be real good though IMO, plus a little less people in the woods.. Especially if you have a good food source in December the deer should be close by,just got to be patient.
  5. Well, i respect everyone's opinion and points of view. I can understand some sarcastic remarks, cause bullets do carry off your land that may be unavoidable sometimes. And I did get up before dawn and i might have shot the 4 pointer . My spot doesn't really have alot of opportunity did pass up a couple spikes this year trying to get others onboard as well in my area but some shoot the first thing that walks by.
  6. Also, i never fire a round into someone else property not only because its illegal but also dangerous. Its just a good hunting ethics.
  7. If i knew the guy was shooting a couple of squirrels i wouldnt have called encon. To answer the first reply, how was i suppose to know if he wasnt doing anything illegal or shooting at my deer, and even if he was shooting a squirrel and the officer believed that some of the rounds entered the field which is only about 20 yards from his house, that is a trespass! and is illegal It was my word against his i still think he was shooting at the deer but no proof
  8. Sitting in the stand this morning, hit the grunt call a few times 5 minutes later a four pointer comes waltzing into the cut corn field..Hes coming my direction its 7 30a.m wind is in my face perfect. Then 2 shots from a .22 cal, i assumed, ring out. Now my land owner has about 80 acres and the field comes up two houses that border his property and dont have permission to hunt. And the houses have a clear view right across the field to the woods.Deer bounds off now im furious and also scared cause this person has no regard into where i am or where his bullet is going.Plus i think he is trying to poach my deer.So at first i just wanted to go up there and introduce myself.haha, but instead i did the right thing and called encon. After the investigation, he was shooting squirrels out his window at 730 am.. Go figure what luck i have. P.S. no ticket was issued cause his neighbor didnt care and he can shoot within 500 feet of his own house.
  9. No funny smell on the arrow or any green or brown in blood trail.. And im going out in the morning to continue searching not giving up just yet.
  10. the terrain he was heading into was dense bush/golden rods along creek bed. I hope it was a non vital hit at this point. Thats what the tracker i called said too so a little relief. And with the seeking and chasing phase really heating up where i am maybe ill get another shot at him..thanks for the replies
  11. Hi, my name is Todd, i finally made a membership after looking at this site very often..haha ..So here is my story i shot a nice 8 pointer this morning broadside at 20yrds. i knew it was a little high(about 4inchs down back) . And also a little back towards liver area.. To be cautious i waited 2 hrs then slowly started tracking ...found arrow 20 yrds after impact site..then good blood trail for about 50 yrds.. then nothing. looked until about 6 pm then came out to regroup. found about 10 drops 100yards away from good blood trail and thats it found that just doing sweeps..Blood on arrow is deep red from flecthing to broadhead. no "gut" matter.. with blood trail is deep red spatter on both sides.so my question to everyone is do you have any suggestions on to where i might have hit him or had a similar hit cause i was convinced it was a liver shot.. i hate losing deer it really bothers me, so i called deer search people that track them with dogs and one guy told me if i hit him in the liver i would have guts too and i called 4 different trackers and none are around me.. im just confused. any info would be awesome or different things i could do. thanks
