Every Hunter in NY feels cheated. Bow guys get pulled around w season dates, youth gun at the get go and superior weapon being rationalized as the same. Gun guys want it all and won't settle for less. The state wants snowmobilers happy and the DEC just wants deer dead so their political pressure lessens. What will happen for full season inclusion of a crossbow? More deer die by the virtue more people hunt and they're easier to use than a vertical bow of any design. Without a total overhaul of the deer census and Hunter take system hunting in NY will continue to suck compared to the Midwest. As stated over and over the states the crossbow guys quote do not appreciate gun season antics....but good old NY just wants them dead and knows there will always be enough places to hide and breed they can't be eradicated and us hunters are way too stupid to band together and do anything in protest. The older I get the less proud I am of what was once being a braggart in such threads- I'll say my closest was around 13ft Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

A local loser shot it twice- back to back nights. Whole family has been cited on nearly a yearly basis for trespassing, poaching, etc. The penalties are minimal due to being town and county employees and dealing w local judge. Cheaters don't get hit hard at all here in NY. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I think this was far truer in the past than it is now. You also have rC and other sublet models to throw in. Wanted to a mark v ul and decided there s2 is as good wo even factoring ammo in so there was more money for glass on top Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I have a vanguard s2 ss in 257wby. A dream rifle IMO and its safe to say I have a few of them. Not fancy or flash but good trigger, good action, sub Moa w no tweaks and the caliber is amazing. No problem at all recommending the gun or the caliber. Bang for buck the s2 and the tikka t3 are the top of the pyramid with savage in the hunt as well. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Ah shucks. Thanks for your insight. Was the 7600 the semi auto or pump rifle? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I a, very sorry I hurt your feelings. Ok; I not My original post had the value and I have done more research and field time with a portable stand and sticks than most anyone on this forum for sure. You disband lone wolf gear and pursue some rabbit hole silliness it only makes sense you take a jab or two. If you were serious about this you'd be figuring it out and not posting on HNY how to hunt like a pro. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Honestly it would depend on a lot of variables- gun, distance, time of year and a number of others. Definitely not with a bow. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

You can see an outside world through the windows of your house, plexiglass of your trailer or the clear areas of your folks basement when the suns out. Most seem a little too out of touch with marketplace offerings or equipment advancements here. This is aside from the ladder stands made of carbon Kevlar and the Area 56 alien provided tree stand materials of courae Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Color book language- Just because you have a tag and legal right to harvest an animal does not mean it is the best thing to do. Understand the herd and area before pulling the trigger. Know your decisions have an overall impact. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

If animals responded so consistently the a hats on here crying "train your dogs to stay out" may be able to hunt those Wiley whitetails better than they do. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Perhaps there is a coloring book on why deer racks get bigger in size that we can buy for you struggling with the point of NY hunters' lack self control is the primary reason we don't have older and bigger bucks. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

The entitlement some of you have because you bought a tag is ridiculous. You are an insult to hunters and ethical persons everywhere. Guessing your own personal desires for smile entry routes play as much as part in your justification for shooting a living thing through is anus as does your inability to be smart enough to be presented with a better shot. You're morals are as high as your intelligence ..... Add disgrace and sacks of chit to the fine list of descriptors. Couldn't wish the inability of your participation in what you'd wonder hunting to fall on you quick enough. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Shooting a deer anywhere other than a clean clear shot to/through the ribs is the move of a slob Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Field dress and butchering mean as much as preservation and then preparation comes last. My mom used to cook til gray. Horrid. If you don't like venison you have a pally problem and Perhaps video games are a better option for you Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Is there really such thing as a brush caliber?

You can swing it but not shoot it Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
Venison tastes like venison, not another red meat. If they're not tender you can't butcher or cook. Maybe a 3 yo or two in there- bunch of 2 yos- 14 in dog years, right? Did I mention I have a biology degree and aged deer for the state too? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I am just waiting for the HNY heroes to start a thread on why they can shoot puppies and don't have to wait for the dogs to be mature Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Sorry to crap on turkey plate here but genetics are NOT the issue in NY, it is age or lack there of it. Most, including someone who thinks the big bucks get posted here, on FB or in NYON have no idea what's here or falls.. Braggarts, poachers and the one time right spot pumpkin heroes share big buck kills..which rarely are older than 3 for the record. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Totally agree with getting a pass for 2 yo but not by shooting little bucks...a 2 yr moratorium on buck hunting would blow he minds of most hunters. I back ARs simply because they increase safety with target id and cut down on the slobbish gun drive culture that makes a mess of hunting here Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

The big problem I see with this sharing of such horrific chit is that it perversely promotes more and keeps the 80% of people that don't hunt nor disapprove of hunting staring at stupidity under the title of hunting...'swaying them toward antihunting. Revolting in and out of our fraternity. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
