  1. For the rest of us they're trying to kill them all to eventually go to a preference point system due to deficit.... But that's easier to control and one could hang their hat on limiting negative deer-people interactions Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  2. In NY you don't cull genetics- you kill deer. 2yo deer don't even show you their potential let alone matter of fact characteristics. Let them grow until 5,6 or older. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  3. Is that a road? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  4. They're great and talent guys.... But they also live in Iowa and hunt the best big buck states there are Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  5. I've learned they don't hunt NY for an obvious reason....... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  6. There are at least 4 phases to the rut. Breeding begins in October and ends (of the most part in December). Mature bucks don't seek in a doe saturated area like ours as much as most would think. The hope to get luck frantic chase phase is not as much strategy as one would like to think- it's just laser pointer-cat relationship for those who didn't scout or like what they found scouting Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  7. I predict it will happen Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  8. I don't hunt with scents but for those of your pros that do CVS is selling tampons 500 for a $1 on sale- serious- no strings attached Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  9. Have a sendero in 7rm. It likes the hornady 139 set American whitetail and 160(?) gr coreokts but obviously performs better wh and loads to which for the life of me I can't remember. It barks and jumps off a bench. I also have a 270 and don't think that is a bad round but doesn't feel like the long range gun (and mind you it is a savage 16) the rem does. I also have a 243 and more important a 257 weatherby. They all have there pluses and minuses. I would say the 7 is best for long range and offers the most versatility for game sizes and game above whitetail size. Just shooting a few rounds for deer every yr- there are better choices. EAB Proposed

There is somewhere around 50million in license sales annually that they have to work with They have at least one big game biologist for each region and at least two underlings to that Sr. Biologist. Understaffed? Oh yeah. In effective ? Oh yeah. Since everyone kicks the same dead horse I'm going for some equine soccer myself. Why not attempt to have some sorts of actual census. They base living doe numbers off of the harvest numbers to which they claim only 40% report. Ever notice the problem doe areas are also some of the more thickly settled, affluent and car laden (i90, etc)? Take it in and let it soak for a bit. Everyone on here argues over what the DEC says but they're the same guys who don't see chit in the fall saying something is amiss. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    EAB Proposed

The implementation of eab approach is about as truthful as the dec big game biologists having a handle on census or management of whitetails in this state. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  12. Heard there was an adult bear hit on the cirttenden overpass on this past Friday night... Haven't tried to track it down yet. Been a few bears, bobcats and other critters around that don't belong there Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  13. 500-3000 for out of season and 500-1000 for use of a light. Kansas out of state tags are around 600$ mind you
  14. Awesome. I would love to see more and more of these just hammering all the cheaters out there... The gun crowd has lawlessness as much apart of them as blaze orange IMO Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  15. They don't want your opinion- just a chance to say they asked it and respondents, ironically, wanted exactly what they felt was best. I'm running 100% w my forecasting. After the sept ml, and full season crossbow it will be banned liquid lures and lead bullets. They sound like good reasoned ideas to the uneducated but that's how the dec can always have support in NY Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  16. Thinking too many have tunnel vision here as no one has asked what is on the neighboring properties...you want to offer what isn't available in the area. Potentially, your grass may already be what you need.
  17. Have a 2015 Colorado ext cab, 4wd extended cab auto w the 4cyl. Other than the back seat being small (not full 4 door, just suicide doors) I wouldn't change a thing about this truck. RIdes like a car, has gone through everything Ive asked it to- including some hills with 2 adults, 2 kids, 3 quads (two on a trailer)...avg commuter miles with me is 28 and 22 around town and I tend to be on the speedy end of the spectrum. Nothing good or bad to say on the Toyota....just my chevy experience.
  18. I agree with you FSW. The issue is 98% of NYers don't have enough property. Did some consulting in the past and occasionally for friends. It's easy to layout ground within itself but factoring in neighbors and the overall flow makes it exponentially more difficult. Let's face it- they'll roam where and when they want. Hollywood stars have money beyond the fantasy of the poor but revert to drugs and crime which those with nothing do as well, right? Does, odd food source, off wind...whatever it is they'll do something dumb by our logic. How many get smacked by vehicles each year? Even ranches in Texas that may be 3-30,000 acres have fences. Totally agree with your statement on the number one management principal being trigger control....heck we live it, right? But our neighbors and fraternity keep our success with our own self control to a minimum. The stud I killed last year had his back filleted wide open from what I would bet on being a rifle shot and having him on cam all year I know it was in September. We have screening and frequent patrol in an area where everybody sees everything..... Still happened. My plots, bedding, travel, scouting and trigger control did nothing there. 19. I just don't believe their numbers are accurate enough. Zero faith in the buck take being ~50% 2.5 or older We had two record setting winters from a realistic severity index back to back here were I live. It walloped the herd. To still be in first or second place for dmps offered is ridiculous. To say the deer numbers are too high in this area is ridiculous. Agreed the warmer temps had an effect on natural deer movement but it also brings more hunters out. Food sources may differ but the basics of the season function the same. 20. Live and act by your numbers. You don't shop for cars and groceries based off what the national economic averages are do you? The dec has a tough job. The dec is not all that great at their job though either. They'll say we can't do this for other states found failure in it but then out of the other corner say other states found fault in that why would we do that. In my opinion, the game is to limit the negative impacts of deer on the general populous not much more or less Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  21. My point exactly .... Mismanaged (due to not managing) into a critical low Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  22. How's the turkey population doing? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  23. Everyone of you quoting numbers; where did your data come from? Oh... No one sees deer, dec says they're there in prolific numbers but it was warm so your observations don't count and we know how many living does there are based off the number of bucks killed within our magic boundaries...... Ugh..... Are you guys really that gullible? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  24. That was quick Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  25. And VIOLA- NYON news cover tauts impending early ml season. Boy did the department of egotistical conversation due us right Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
