  1. Father in Law and I came back from camp tonight due to the forecast for the morning. Didn't want to drive the hour and 15 in the nasty stuff. Hunted Friday afternoon and I had 2 doe at less than 20yds but no tag for that area. 20 minutes later a lone deer snuck in on me at 30yds and presented several shot ops but no antlers, just nubs. FIL saw nothing Friday. Hunted all day today and put some miles on the boots. Ended up bumping a lone doe at 11:45am and that was the only deer seen all day. Legs are tired and I'm hitting the sack real soon. Debating on a morning hunt in the snow if I can drag myself out of bed. Congrats to all the successful hunters this weekend and good luck to those going out tomorrow.

No idea what i got here but the dude at Pelham’s Dececcio seemed to know his “beer.”
The true shining star, High Life, not pictured

Hunted with some other members of the camp last week and one brought me some of the Up to get Down. Not bitter and that beer is brewed especially for DeCecios so of course he recommended it. Not sure on the others but I'm sure you have the bases covered. Enjoy. 9a60a5ce302cc1810f7f2ac866aef6f6.jpg

  3. Need some beer advice for turkey day...blonde ales? Not too hoppy IPA’s? And then some serious juicy crap as well(double IPAs or New England IPAs )
I figure High Life covers all but just in case you guys know some others I should consider...pretty good beer selection at Pelham dececcio so give me your top choices and I’ll start there

Southern Tier has a blonde ale but not my cup o beer so that's the only one I know.
Check the IBUs on the IPAs, the lower the number, the less bitter they are and won't taste AS hoppy unless the can states double dry hopped or something to that effect.
Any of the Juice Bombs from Sloop will fit your juice requirements but there are several NEIPA, DIPA, & TIPAs out there and too many to list.
Honestly there are so many choices, it may be better to ask at the store. Good luck and post up your choices except for the High Life!!!

  4. Great Buck Lawd and great meat buck Crappy. Congrats on getting it done today.

Hunted this morning with my neighbor and his crew at their camp. Did 3 drives and only one doe to show for it. Hope tomorrow morning is better. Put up some Christmas lights midday and went back out for afternoon solo in my bow stand. Super quiet out there and no deer were moving through.

  5. Then the dented case had nothing to do with it, just a bad primer or not a hard enough strike, good chance you go and shoot that round at the range tomorrow and it goes bang

Totally agree with a bad primer or not hard enough strike. I bought a new hunting coat several years ago and cradle my rifle across my chest to my left. The bolt of my rifle is right by my right wrist. I had an 8pt come in as I was walking to my spot so I pulled up, aimed and squeezed. CLICK. Deer ran out of my life. Went to cabin, set out a plate, chambered a new round and BANG. Primer was dented on first round but never fired. Later I realized my puffy new coat pushed my bolt up ever so slightly as I walked and did not get a solid strike on the primer.

  6. i've had all of those except what i think i'm seeing is Super Sap. Out of the others in your picture i think i liked hurricane the least but it was still a good beer. i've had others too like alterrrr ego, spring, summer, etc. Tree House is good stuff. Along with the northern VT beers. Still have yet to make it to Trillium in Mass or Hill Farmstead in VT.
One of my neighbors goes to all of those breweries and I just buy it at cost off of him. Super Sappppp was my favorite out of all of them. This is an older picture from the spring when I went to trout camp in PA. Just good beer

  7. Heard this just before the opener but no mention of where in Tioga County. I'm just over the border and hunt one property in Apalachin. Haven't seen any deer acting funny yet.

  8. What part of the state are you located in if you don't mind me asking? It's been a long time since I hunted public land, but I would go in further than most and looked for swampy areas if possible or a saddle in a ridge that would be used as a travel corridor or escape route. Look for deer runs and set up far enough off of them to not get busted if deer travel on them past you. Acorns are a plenty this year. An oak flat on a hillside would be a good food source to look for when scouting.

  9. Getting caught up on all the action since Friday. Went to my camp this weekend in 4W. Had a doe at 15 yards walking to my stand. Sat for 3 hours and then tried to still hunt. No snow and a swirling change every 10 minutes wind. Never put anything up. Went back to main spot I sat in the morning for afternoon sit. Had 4 doe come in just before 4pm all withing 60 yds bit no doe tags for that area.

9 of us hunting and the only buck seen was a spike, taken by a youth Hunter. 2 does taken as well. Hunting locally next weekend and back to camp for Thanksgiving weekend.
