1. Hey Guys, I just ordered my first GPS and wanted to know what maps you all use for NYS. I really want the huntinggpsmaps, but they dont have NY available yet. Are there any other sources that have maps for NY that are good? Possibly showing boundaries, and ownership for private land? Also, public land (Sterling Forest specifically)
 2. I think that is the major selling point for me. Since we all NEED to have radios (no cell service) we need to communicate. I would rather have my radio in my GPS, therefore its just less electronics to carry, watch out for and charge! lol Plus if I can talk my guys into getting them down the road, it will be even better. Yea I think I might pull the trigger on that one. Found a good price on thedigitaloasis.com. Looks like a Florida based company, has anyone ever purchased an item from them?
 3. The new ones have rechargeable battery packs and can also use regular AA batteries, so I like the options it offers for that.
 4. The more I think about it and check out the prices, I may be better off sticking to the Rino 655t, as it is basically the same price as the 62STC, but also has the radio (so I do not need to carry 2 different devices). Are there any glaring reasons why I shouldn't do that? As an FYI, if anyone is looking for an Oregon 450t, Cabelas has them on sale for $199 today!
 5. Hey guys, I'm sure you have all answered this question a million times, but I'm hoping for some personal advise. I am purchasing my first handheld GPS. I cannot use my phone as I have no service in my hunting areas and do not feel comfortable cache'ing the maps. I was initially looking into the Rino but my buddies all got regular radios, I was hoping to talk them into all getting Rinos, but that didn't happen. Now I am looking at the Oregon 450t or the GPSMAP 62(s, S). I mainly hunt in NY state but will hopefully be doing some trips in the coming years. My main concern is accuracy. I go into the woods in the dark and to have the GPS bring me right to my tree would be great. I read that the accuracy may not be the best on the 450t since they don't have the extended antenna, which is what led me to look into the GPSMAP series. I have read the GPSMAP series are extremely accurate. Any information you can provide would be helpful as I am looking to pull the trigger online today so I can go to my newly leased land in a few weeks to scout with it. I want to get the maps from huntingmaps.com, but they do not have NYS available yet, I have my fingers crossed that it isn't too far behind, does anyone have the inside scoop??
 6. Yep, that's exactly where I'm going. OK cool, Ill check it out and let you know if I find anything good!.. Thanks again for your help, I really appreciate it! I also saw that CVA has a DVD for people just getting into ML's. Do you think that may be worth a purchase for a novice like me?
 7. Thats some great info, thanks! I am going to Cabelas in a few weeks and will hopefully get this ML.
 8. Do you need cell service for that option to work? The area where I hunt has no service at all. Also, do you know if they have a similar app for Android devices?
 9. Do you have the remote? That seems like a necessity when you have the camera attached to your head or anywhere else. Just seems so much easier to have a butting near your hand where you can turn the recording on and off, so any one I get, this is a must have.
 10. Thanks 88! Phade- I read somewhere that I would need to get a different breech plug if I wanted to use the 209 powder as the one it comes with is for the pellets. Does this sound right? Also, can someone explain the difference to me between the bullets themselves, I see there are balls and other actual bullet looking like well bullets out there. Which is for which? I'm sorry for the novice question, but I am brand new to ML and trying to understand it all.
 11. I am also looking into a camera to film my hunts!! I have been checking out the Go Pro, Contour and a few others. It doesn't seem like any of these types of cameras have a zoom function. Is that accurate? H How has the GoPro 3 been working our for you?? I'm looking for some opinions on camera
 12. Does anyone have experience with the CVA Accura V2?? I also am looking to purchase my first ever ML. Also, What else is required to get going? I haven't seen an article or anything that explains how ML's work and how to load them and tools or equipment that's needed. Any info would be great! Sorry, don't mean to hijack your thread, but was thinking of posting a similar one.
 13. That's good news man, thanks! I'm hoping to get up there on Sunday
 14. Sorry, I was viewing it on my phone, I see your from the Boogy down now.
 15. Shawn, where are you from?

sent from my carrier pigeons....

16. I would be more than happy to open it up and include all NYC hunters. If anyone in the NYC area is interested, please let me know and I'll provide more information once I see what the interest level looks like.
 17. Hey Guys- Are there any Staten Island hunters on here?? I am looking to start up a club as the sport is not as popular in my area. I think it would be a good way to meet fellow hunters and hunt different lands. I already have about 5 guys and we leased land up in 7P, I also hunt in Sterling Forest. I think it would be really awesome to get a crew together and hunt some different areas and maybe some hunting trips. If anyone is interested or already knows of such a club, please let me know!
 18. Hey guys- A few of my buddies and I leased some land in 7P near New Berlin. We were thinking of heading up soon to do some scouting of our new land and maybe do some turkey hunting while we are at it. Has anyone in that area had any luck yet?? What is everyone seeing?
 19. Yea I think I'll still head up and see if I see any action. What are your views on box calls vs mouth calls? I never used mouth ones but wanted to try to keep my hands free.

sent from my carrier pigeons....

20. Hey guys, does anyone hunt Turkey at sterling? I know no one is going to give up their sweet spots, but if you can provide a general area that can potentially be successful I would really appreciate it!!

sent from my carrier pigeons....

21. I meant renewal process.....Damn autocorrect sent from my carrier pigeons....
 22. I didn't know the renewal prices was like that. When you receive it, how long until a renewal is required? Well I don't wanna get ahead of myself as I come home from work everyday and check the mail like a kid waiting for a letter from Santa. Lol pretty sad on my part I guess. sent from my carrier pigeons....
 23. My parents used to live upstate but they moved, i kinda wish they didn't for this situation. They really make it difficult for us city people to get a license. All those degenerates who ruin it for the people who love this sport

sent from my carrier pigeons....

24. I'm not trolling, I'm annoyed with the waiting period and trying to see if anyone knows when i can expect a response. Thanks for jumping to conclusions tho guy.

sent from my carrier pigeons....

25. Hey guys, I submitted my rifle license on November 13, almost 5 months ago now. I know it usually takes about 4 months but this seems really long. Do you think the time is extended for maybe additional checks due to the legislature and bills they are trying to pass?? I just want to get my short gun for Turkey season and my rifle for deer! Any info would be really helpful

sent from my carrier pigeons....
