HERE COMES THE GUN LAWS
tuckersdaddy replied to ryan's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
2 things the box stores selling firearms do... First is keeping pricing in check, second it allows people who work odd hours access.. Now your assuption that everyone standing behind the counter at a gunshop is knowlegable, and the old guy at the counter at walmart is clueless is a bit shortsighted. Some of the worst customer service Ive received is from a small gunshop, and some of the best advice ive had was from an older gentleman who before retirement was gunsmith at Dan Wesson, and worked pt time at walmart for something to do. Question is whos man (or woman) enough to carry the 35lb gun through the woods???? Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

No contradiction... Make gun season 3 days, and the thought of seeing a bigger shooter later goes out the window. It becomes a take whats avalible now because tomarrow is less then 3 days... On the 3+ year olds.... Yes the older they get the smarter they get. Ever walk by a deer that simply did not move? Bet it wasnt a 1 1/2 year old. Ever stalk a deer that always seem to have a bush or tree in the way of a clean shot? This is what age does... It make them wiser... and harder to hunt, but lets make them the only legal deer to harvest... and you have only 24 huntable hours to do it..... in 5 years you will have no hunters. Back to my origanal statement.. Im glad to see The DEC educating and setting realistic goals for new and casual hunters. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

Wow the season isnt even here yet and we are starting with the excuses and whinning..... If big inch or pound is your thing, learn to and work for it.... They are around... Deer dont get to be 3+ years by being dumb. You have to learn how the deer act, pattern them, then hope they make a mistake... Too long of gun season has little effect.. go out on wednesday of week 2,3, or ml.... in most places you will be the only person in the woods. Want all the young deer shot? make gun season 3 days, there will be no passed deer. As far as the Op article... Everone wants the DEC to put out educational information, Im glad they started. Setting realistic expectations for new or casual hunters is an excellent first step. If all the info out there is the TV the new or casual hunter would expect fawn to be born at 125lbs. The DEC has taken the proper line in educating, not madating. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

What ive found is the meat will only take so much smoke.. After an hour or two ( depending on the size of the meat) I wrap it in a pan and it catches the juice at that point... my set up is a wood fired off set, no water pan. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

After the storm may be the time to buy property... put a cheap house you can walk away from on it, Head to NY when you need to. First major storm since the 60s... May be a good gamble... Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

That absolutly sucks... I hope your recovery is swift and complete! The bright side is you dont use your toe to pull the trigger, A day or 2 in the wood (even a stateland road) can be great moral booster! Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

very easily.... You can end up with no growth, or overspend on what growth you get. Food plots arent black magic... Its simple agriculture. All the formulas and proscesses are allready proven. You just have to follow it. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk -
Hey if your happy with the decision, it was a good hunt! Try bringing a camera along. If you think its not a shooter, snap some pics and share! Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

what does your soil sample tell you? Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk -
that rental fee is probably not out of line. Locally its 300 to 400 an hour with an opperator. But it doesdo a nice job. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

There are too many variances.. Measuring is the only way to know, or just load some different stuff and see what it likes the best.. Example.. My mini prefers Nosler ballistic tip 150 gr. (.308) with a max load of reloader 7, shoots clover leafs at 100 yrds but you can run faster then the bullet. (1000 to 1100 fps crono) and that particular bullet likes 2500 fps ( out of the '06) to fully open up. The TnT 125 gr will shoot 1in groups but cronos at 1600fps which is fast enough to make them open. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

3 to 4 inches with a brush hog is on the optimistic end of the scale.... The brush grinder work well, everyrhing ends up mulch, high end of the price scale. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

Yes in a mini... Here are a few things Ive discovered along the way.... Is the barrell a .308 or a .310 in bore.. This affects how everything performs. My mini happens to be a .308 bore, which is great when Im running reloads because of the wide bullet selection. Now most .308 bullets are designed to hold up in a 308 win or 30'06 which can end up being almost twice the velocity of the 7.62x39. So when you use them in the smaller chambering the termanal performance is poor ( minimal to no expansion). So what I ended up using was a Sierra Varmit TnT 123 gr. Its a weak bullet that opens fully at slower velocity. (also comes apart out of th '06 when loaded heavy) Lots of trial and error but I do carry it in the woods off and on through the season and Im now confident in it within reasonable expectations.
