I have a food plots out in the woods about 200 yds behind my back door and get deer on my trailcams on and off all day long. The idea of having to be out 1/2 hour before lite is something I don't go by much anymore. My cams show deer coming and going at 10:30, noon time, 2 o'clock, 3 o'clock anytime. Idea is you don't wanna spook them going in but you have a greater chance of doing that in the dark anyway, at least in day lite you can walk to your stand slowly and see if deer are in the area.

I don't understand why the hell they just don't release the hounds on the nut already, they have his scent, I know for a fact you let 20 hungry bloodhounds out on this nut and they will have him in 1/2 day????

If I bag one on my property it will be a project getting it out but doable. But I also love getting out on the wide open tracts of state land where there is a good chance of getting a shot at a bear. What do you do if you bag a big Blacky way out? If you were caught on state land by the DEC with your ATV and you explained that you have a 300lb bear laying up on a mountain and have no other way to get him down? I wonder if you contact the DEC after shooting one and explain the situation if they would make an exception? Any state forest hunters here with solutions, I mean I would hate not taking the shot because I have no way to get him out but that might be what I'm up against.

College costs average 30k a year not incl dorming costs, that brings it close to 40k a year. We have a whole generation that is being put into servitude and that's not American. I'm hearing some of the familiar Conservative farts in the wind that education shouldn't be free or that parents should have saved the 600k for their 3 kids college costs, that's all hogwash. No one wants free education, we want affordable education, and this problem of our young people being saddled with this debt will surely sink this country.

I used to live and hunt on the east end of Long Island, plenty deer but too many houses. Can make recovery of a deer tough especially if it crossed 3 properties before dropping. Also a strong anti hunter presence on LI...I moved upstate and hunt the Hudson valley now and love it.

I rely heavily on my trail cams on where to hunt and will check them about 3 days before opening morning. And pretty much check them 2x a week thru the season. Never chk them the day before hunting a spot.

this might have some truth to it, the one I found last fall freshly abandoned was about 14 feet off the ground and we did have a snowy winter.

Problem a lot of gun owners/shooters/hunters are 50+ men who own only Bolt guns and don't care to own military style rifles. The bigger problem is these guys are still a very sizeable portion of what gun owners are in NY state and they have been chastised, labeled Fuds and even belittled for their opinions on firearms. That's really the last thing you wanna do to a huge portion of gun owners. Look around you, I belong to 2 gun ranges/clubs and the guys shooting at these clubs are mostly older retires who own no AK47s or AR15s, they own Win model 70s, Rem 700s. To many of them not being able to own a military style rifle with 30 round mags is a none issue. Seems sometimes as gun owners and sportsman we forget who we are.

Once a tank starts rusting and seeping its beyond repair. Buying a bone yard tank could be iffy too, make sure it's cleaned and flushed. And you might find any junkyard tank you buy isn't any better than what you have now.
