6 ladder stands and a Moultrie camera stolen
sits in trees replied to nybuckboy's topic in General Chit Chat
I sure hope it was for scrap and not our good fellow hunters how did this. And I would hate to think that we have fellow hunters in our midst that would buy these stands knowing they were stolen especially with some ones name ground off of them. -
Read, a lot of good info online and on this very site. You must take a hunters safety course and get your hunting license. Perhaps join a sportsman or hunting club. If you have land to hunt find other hunters and learn from them. Just keep asking questions on this very site, we have some very helpful folks here. You can also watch hunting shows on the Outdoor Network and on You Tube. In NY the preferred big game is whitetail deer. Good luck Comrade.

NY Management Coalition
sits in trees replied to NYBuckHunter27's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
I bet 90% of you guys who complain about AR were the same guys complaining about not being able to shoot anything but a 4 pointer or spiker in NY a few short years ago. -

VIDEO: Entrance And Exit Shots!!!
sits in trees replied to TheFieldArcher's topic in General Hunting
The exit part of the video almost looks like something you would see in the movies. Pretty slick and I wish we could use bait in NY. -
See if this makes sense to you
sits in trees replied to wheelieman's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
A lot of people put them outside their houses themselves. Lots of cameras on city streets catching thugs beating up law abiding citizens, its not all bad and there's always 2 sides to a coin I guess. -

The only difference between today and years ago is it's all being video tapped today. Man when I was growing up in the city the police used to beat on us all the time, no biggie, helped build character. -
I like them.

Yes I remember the story now, harrowing to say the least.

Any old timer's want to help a young buck out?
sits in trees replied to Caveman's topic in General Chit Chat
You have to look into something that will feed you and your family for a lifetime young fella, way to many highly educated people making huge paychecks only 5 years ago working at Home Depot today, losing cars, homes, retirements. Government civil service was the ticket and still looks good today but with the way things are going that could well be headed for the crapper too, lots of people have lots to lose. Make your own pension in addition to anything provided by an employer. Go into small business and make your own way, you will be the one at the helm instead of politicians or union bosses who will hold your fate in other lines of work...... -
Hey Elmo, didn't you have a stand failure last year? or was it some else.

NY ands its laws are indeed a joke, wait until Jan 15th when the safe act becomes law, you will see a lot of people in this state pooing a stupid do nothing law. I mean do they really think they will get millions of AR/AK owners to comply with registration or replace parts on their firearms to make them legal and throw out their legally purchased 30 round mags. When a government imposes laws that are just ridiculous or even impossible to comply with what is there to do. There really should be more Safe Act discussion on this forum. I realize there isn't because we have a lot of hunter non assault type weapon gun owners on this site who really aren't concerned because their Remington 700 with that 3x9 scope that can kill at hundreds of yds hasn't been targeted yet, but it will, mark my words it will.

Seems even with all the latest in technology and safety you hear about this every year. Years ago most hunters stayed on mother earth but everyone and anyone is up in trees now. I used to be laughed at when I was in my teens for climbing up huge pines and nailing boards in place to hunt from, most bow hunters hunted from the ground in those days, yea Im old, that was in the 70s.

UTV vs compact tractor
sits in trees replied to fu2lmao's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Tractors sink in marshes. -
Damn widow makers can be dangerous. Makes you not wanna go in the woods on breezy days.

you never now with video surveillance being what it is today crooks are becoming alittle more leery, especially in obvious places like you described...

Probably the reason so many landowners don't let hunters on their property's, just isn't worth it to them.

We have close to a million hunters entering the NY woods every year, The NY hunting tradition is vibrant and strong and brings one billion dollars in revenue to this state every year. Not even Cuomo and Bloomberg would dare mess with that or would ever have a chance of stopping it. We shoot more and bigger deer in NY state than North Carolina could ever dream of. I also have over one million acres of state land to hunt in addition to my own here in NY. While states like yours look for ways to destroy wilderness with mining, fracking and amusement parks, NY is adding forever wild lands every year with over 100 thousand acres added just in the last few years. The only difference between NC and us NY'ers is we cant shoot our deer with AK-47s but we do pretty good with our bolt action rifles killing 1/2 million whitetails a year. Go and bash NY hunting on some we hate NY'ers site in North Carolina. Tire of this southern redneck jealous mentality. The south doesn't do everything better! actually they do almost everything worse.

Any of you old guys start out with climbing blocks ?
sits in trees replied to Nomad's topic in Deer Hunting
Ah the good ole days. Its amazing any of us survived them. -
Naaa. Back in the 80s experts were predicting AIDS would wipe out half of our population by 2010. And wasn't that swine or bird flu thing suppose to kill us all last year?
