  1. Blame it on instant video. People are seeing people being murdered by police, yes justifiable sometimes but other times not. Some are shot in the back or killed when a tazer would do. I've seen many a veteran on social media who say taking a knee has nothing to do with disrespect of our troops or flag. I think it's also a protest against this assclown we have as a president. This moron never misses an opportunity to divide the races.
  2. Why are the heroin addicts in upstate NY now and not in NYC were they used to all be.
  3. When I think back it reminds me of some really good times and hunters who are no longer around, it was different. I know the local businesses like food, fuel, lodging places were hurt by the change.
  4. Seems we have to become more innovative with the passing years, I wanna hunt as long as possible and have made many adjustments along the way to compensate for brute strength.
  5. Golf ball retriever, hmmm that sounds like a plan. Also I've had the sinking chair situation too and now use a folding metal chair with short 2x4s screwed in across the front legs and rear legs. I know a metal folding chair sounds odd but the smooth metal surface of the seat let's me spin to shoot out almost any window in complete silence.
  6. I luv em for deer w rifle and turkey. I leave them out all season and cut a sapling just long enough to support the roof in the event of snow load which can cave them and break the rods.
  7. Few years ago I witnessed a hunter hand a compound bow to the Bow Mechanic at Gander and he said get this all tuned up for me I'm hunting tomorrow. Well for me that was bad enough but what was worse was it was the afternoon before opening day. So the argument that you will have unprepared hunters out there because of crossbow inclusion doesn't hold much sauce with me.
  8. I live upstate NY, we all carry. I think Nassau County is the problem, I lived there in the mid 70s and you couldn't carry then
  9. Check the power steering pump pulley, the shaft retainer inside might be bad. Remove belt and pry between the pump housing and pulley and see if it moves
  10. Ah I don't hunt much in Oct but things settle down about now and you can betcha yer ass I'll be hunting the peek of the rut with an XBow
  11. I'll have to check again tonight, I have HBO and some kind of package, I'm being bled unbelievable amounts of money every month so I'm hoping I do have some sort of hunting TV
  12. I live in the Hudson Valley and have Time Warner cable, what channels are the hunting shows on??
  13. NY is a great state. We have it all, I've been all over this country and nothing compares.
  14. I'm a fairly experienced turkey hunter but have to admit I've usually stayed home when it's raining. Looks like a wet one for the very best portion of the season, the whole first week, any opinions on turkey activity, mating and calling in this weather. Do they honker down in a period of steady rain or don't they mind getting wet.
  15. I really have no problem with a hunter who wants to spend the time and energy jumping thru hoops to convert an AR into a NY deer rifle, to each his own. But its the law and not being legally able to lug around a 14lb AR with a 30 round mag and flash hider is no skin off my butt and in all honesty most deer hunters don't and never have used ARs for deer hunting. It really does come down to because in my opinion and I don't have time for "because" and will continue to hunt with the rifles I've used my whole life. I did the whole thing writing congressman and sending emails and standing out in the cold at the Albany protests but the fact of the matter is we lost.We tried everything, lawsuits and even trying to oust the guy who made the laws and we still lost in a landslide election. For me its time to get back to hunting, turkey season is 4 months off and I won't have a problem hunting them with my same old Mossberg 500 that just so happens not to have a thumbhole stock. If that makes me a Fudd then just call me Elmer, lol.
  16. I've lived in a hunting family my whole life and my dad hunted with a Savage 300 bolt action, uncles uses 3030 marlins and I have hunter with bolt actions since the 1970s. To this very day I know of no one who hunts deer with an AR. In our rich NY history of deer hunting you haven't even heard about hunting whitetails with an AR until maybe 10 years ago despite manufactures claims that "everyone is doing it" and comparing guns to pickups etc. So all in all it really does come down to "because". I say just get out into the woods with the rifle we have always used and stop wasting time and effort into trying to use a rifle which isn't necessarily the best for the job to hunt deer with.
  17. The show is entertaining but I never found Tim Allen that funny.
  18. Nothin like a good dog, get yourself some Karl Ehmer German dogs. They snap when you bite into them, taste great and arnt over salty. I've been eating them for decades....
  19. I did order one just now from Cabelas and will try it out dressed in my gear on a nearby tree out back before I take it on a hunt. I'll be getting it dec3 and will let yawl know...
  20. It's only supposed to weight 4 pounds which after walking thru the woods for 20 mins will be 40 lbs of course.
  21. Sometimes when I'm wandering the big woods and looking for a place to post I have a real hard time finding a place to sit. Any of you ever tried one of these seats. I was wondering if setting it low would give you the ability to put your elbow to your knee for a steady aim?
