if you were hunting in NH you will find NY hunting quite an improvment. we shoot several hundred thousand deer here every year in comparison to NH's maybe 15k...NY has a good mix of everything, mountains, farms, grown over farms(my favorite) swamps, areas that hold P&Y trophies and areas where your happy to bag a six point.. our hunter population is waning and aging and we are headed for a big dropoff in our sports popularity in the next 10 years. we need more hunters

i went to the dropaway rest thing on all 3 of my bows several yrs back. then one day i stood there saying what the hell am i doing messing with these stupid things, extra string, timing, etc. went right back the the WB 2 years ago and life is simpler and im shooting great....

my point exactly, NY doesnt have the cushy climate conditions they have down in Georgia or Texas. life just seems to get fatter and more abundent down south...
-
i cant wait till they get to my area... i think they will be good for hunting.... i dont see why we could not have a sustainable herd here in NY, just because they cant control there pig problem in a handfull of southern states doesnt mean we couldnt maintain a sustainable healthy herd up here in NY, would be a great resource. heck we do almost everything better than they do down south anyhow, Heck this is NY!!!

man that was good...

those little snickers bars....

trained and monitored by profesionals is one thing, but too many people out there training dogs for defense that shouldnt be. i could never see the point of training a dog to attack a human, always works out bad for the humans and dogs.

Why I've lost interest in hunting shows.
sits in trees replied to First-light's topic in Deer Hunting
i gave up on hunting shows a couple years back, too much phonyness, all set up and they treat us the viewer like we are stupid....then comes the big sell. oh and i got so sick of hearing the down south southern draaaaawllll ya awlllll thing too. show some hunts from NY where you really have to work for an 8 pt without bait, without fences, not on some deer farm but real NY hunting where every single show dont end with the killing of a 14 point 250 class buck.... oh and that little blond chick on that show the crush with the big dorky guy with the funny voice makes me sick, way too cutsie. well i guess you can all tell i luv my hunting shows huh?? -
just google NY dog bite laws, my nephew is an attorney who specializes in just that, he's doing very well.

training a dog to attack a person in the woods? sounds like yer settin yerself up fer the big whammie.

just about any bear taken in NY state is killed by someone who is hunting deer, or a baiter. those are the facts plain n simple. when i say baiter it could be a guy hunting a dump or a bird feeder or near a garbage dumpster, or simple the guy who sits out over a pile of donuts. they catch em every year...
-
worst part is their are hunters out there that will buy your stolen equipment.
-
oohhh, why the hell wouldnt it be??
-
not a good shot, with a bow forget it. with a rifle yea you will kill the deer but waste meat, if it were the only shot on a buck of a lifetime yea with the rifle.
-
for me its how close i can get to deer, i like to hear em breathing when i draw...long shot put make it all up to the deer, one small movement at a 68 yd shot by the deer and you have a bad or marginal hit. you can have all the confidence in the world and hit a pie plate at 80 every time, it all doesnt mean a thing because where i hunt deer move...

This is how NY needs to handle poachers!

anywhere in the world, really? -
its not baiting if you grew it, if someone else grows it and you buy it it baiting, or something like that i guess?

Hunters siding with Antis....sickening
sits in trees replied to WNYBuckHunter's topic in General Chit Chat
oh and by the way without getting into too much detail thier stats are all wet about the num% of hunters to birdwatchers, and revenues of hikers outdoing that of the hunting community is pure nonsense. hunting brings close to a billion dollars a year of revenue to NY state when you ad it all up. hikers and bird peepers cant even hold a candle to that, what BS.. -
it takes a long time for an arrow to travel 50 yds, alot can happen in that time no matter how good a shot you are. i practice out to 50 and can group in a vital consistently at 40 but never take a shot at a deer past 30. just dont like long drawn out trackin jobs that go way into the night anymore..

Hunters siding with Antis....sickening
sits in trees replied to WNYBuckHunter's topic in General Chit Chat
wow most states are removing the Sunday hunting ban thing. once again the antis are not challanging our right to hunt, they are chiseling away at the way we hunt. remember fellow hunters its all a numbers game and when the numbers % start going against us the politicians will drop us like yesterdays news. -
if you look at any northern region on the planet you wont find a hog problem, just because Texas cant control their hog population doesnt mean evry state that has small numbers of wild hogs is going to be over run. their are thousands of species that thrive in a state like Texas that wouldnt stand a chance up here in our sub zero winter temps...heck the very country that gave us the wild hog doesnt have a population problem... maybe its just that nasty species just seem to thrive in texas.

Why I love Dick's Sporting Goods Store

so whattaya saying, you like Dicks? -
i hunted in a camp of with about 12 to 16 hunters back in the late 70s when i first started hunting, overr the years almost every one of them dropped off, died, got too old, or just gave it up. its down to me and one other guy and we hunt the land i live on now, nice in a way but sure miss those days with all the guy's meeting upstate the night before opening. hunting camps are nothing like they were in the 70s and 80s when every hotel, motel, gas station, and diner and ginmill was crawling in a sea of blaze orange.

you just luv that stinky ole goat dont ya, lol!!
-
this 1000 feet thing is nothing new, the antis have used the shooting of the young girl in Sullivan county several years ago and more recent shooting situations in our state to put fire behind this thing. can you imagine how much hunting land in lower NY this could make completely inaccesible for hunting!! this is a dangerous one fellas, keep an eye on this...
