yea and as far as the draw lock device is concerned the story remains the same, there is not a single vert bow manufacturer out there that reccomends the use of such a device on their bows and will void your warranty if any damage occurs when using such a device, DUUHHH looks like NYS kinda goofed on that one HUH? i have e-mails from Hoyt, PSE, Martin, Matthews technical departments stating that leaving their bows in the cocked position for extended periods of time with the use of such a device is "NOT Recommended", and will void your warranty. -

Well, rather than repeat it all, just read my reply to Culver. A lot of it is repeated stuff that nobody seems to want to address. I think you will see that I do understand exactly what you are saying. Basically you are saying and have been saying that if the disabled issue doesn't involve a crossbow, the heck with those that can't work within that new limit. I simply don't agree with that half-way measure. As far as Sits is concerned ..... Lol, what can I say. He is kind of irrelevant to this discussion and non existant in any other topics. The only time he comes out of the woodwork is when there is a crossbow topic.... pretty much a "johnny one-note" element of back-ground noise that I have learned to ignore. : yea Doc, atleast i don't spend hours typing pages upon pages upon pages of endless dribble on every single topic that no body even bothers reading anymore. oh and for the rest of you good folks on this forum i apologize for opening the spicket to the endless dribble machine :'( all i wanted to do is make everyone aware of this new bill, please disregard nonsense by Doc of this eventually having hunters walk the woods during bow season with rifles -

My mistake. I thought the point of the legislation was to keep injured or disabled people involved with hunting. That's hardly doing away with bow season or jumping off any cliffs. I'm simply saying that if we are truly serious about helping the disabled continue to enjoy hunting, then do something meaningful like allowing them to use a weapon that really does assist them. Perhaps the type of weapon would have to be determined based on the category of disability, but this idea of handing them a crossbow just to feel like you have done something wonderful is really only a token gesture. Doc we can all see right thru on how your trying to spin this whole thing in your own silly little fashion. but as far as firearms being the final outcome of allowing crossbows into archery season is total HOGWASH. Ohio has had crossbows included in their archery season for some 30 years now and yea you guessed it still no guns in bow season, Duhhh! -

Using the same line of reasoning you could say "Why does gun season stop with just firearms? There is bound to be many disabilities that connot be compensated for by a firearm. Why are there no provisions in a bill for people in that more severe bracket of handicap to use traps to snare the deer and hold it still so they can shoot it during gun season." The reason why is because traps are not firearms, just like guns are not archery equipment. Crossbows are archery equipment. Its not rocket science. You know, you're right. At some point we just have to simply admit that we can no longer bowhunt, and there may actually be some ways to provide realistic, practical assistance. Of course that solution all depends on whether we are really concerned about disabled hunters or more interested in trying to cram crossbows into bow season in any way we can. If we are truly concerned about disabled hunters then give them the use of a weapon that actually does help them out in a real way. And that's not rocket science either. hey Doc can you tell us the story about you riding off into the sunset again when you can no longer draw yer bow, thats one of my favorites! -

if a licensed physician determines someone can not pull a bow thats good enough. Heck sounds like some of you guy's will need a licensed psychotherapist when NY finally gets full inclusion -

wait a minute, isnt this forum or any forum a place for a person to get information and maybe just maybe not have to get a load of useless opinions and "my feelings about this" posts? i thought there might just be one attorney or NYS CO on this site who could help me out, instead i get a bunch of alcohol fearing puritanical hogwash/preaching about the evils of booze, and zero fact. i can see i came to the wrong place for any kind of intelligent support here, save it for church boys, nuff said. -

If you want cold hard fact regarding legality, call an attorney. Me personally, I would not hunt with any guy who needs to drink to stay warm or any other reason, any more than I would get in a vehicle with anyone who has drank. If and when he shoots someone after a "swig or two", I will be interested to hear how you justify that, unless you are the one he shoots. Legal or not stupidity should not prevail. yea Bub, the mans not a drunk and is probably alot sharper than most hunters in the woods, if he takes a swig it might be one in the afternoon like i said previously. and as far as you not getting into a car with some one who has had a drink, so what, the roads are full of people that have had one or 2 drinks, totally legal up to .08 wether you like it or not. the man is in supreme shape and i have no fear of him shooting me or anyone. the woods are loaded with fat older overweight hunters who eat more pills in a day than you can count that are far more dangerous than my buddy. so thanks for telling me to call an attorney, i thought for sure an all knowing guy like you would have the answer like you do for almost any other topic ;D -
they r all walk ins.

there still beatin the horse in PA.

they are all good, and most are under hunted these days, yea you get hunters on opening week but after thanksgiving it can be really nice, i hunt my own land but always get out to hunt the lands you listed above, 10's of thousands of acres of wilderness, can't be beat. you just gotta get out and pick one and get to know it, like i said alot of land, i have killed many deer in these areas over the years and till the end of MZ season you will have plenty of space.....good luck.

whatever yo wanna call em i can't wait to hit the woods with one!!

studying the NY state crossbow wars is something that is recommended to all hunters, it is a low point in our history and has done nothing but weaken the basic fabric of our sport and way of life, just like most wars. like the Korean War it has not truly ended and history is bound to be repeated. there are those on both sides that feel they have gained a victory, but don't fool yourselves the bloodletting will one day surely start again.

maybe we should outlaw bars and restaurants that sell booze, because by the way you guy's carry on people shouldnt even be allowed to drive after having one or 2 belts. funny when i started this post i clearly stated that this guy takes one swig, and that i wanted cold hard fact on the legality of posession of alcohol while in the woods. i have gotten everything but?????????? so far not a single link or anything that can truly tell me what the law states. i couldnt give a crap what anyones opinion is on wether my friend carry's a flask with him when hunting. -
yes we have come off some long hard battles on this one, many have died, many wounded, some with lifetime emotional scars. i myself suffer from the inability to sleep or concentrate..
