Help make NY a higher quality deer state
sits in trees replied to Santamour123's topic in General Hunting
never gonna happen, gun hunters rule by a huge majority and besides i live in dmu 3j thats had antler restritions in place for 5 years or so now, this used to be the land of the spike buck but thats all change now, me and the local hunters i talk to see 8 pointers every year now and i had a 10 point on one of my trail cams just last week. the racks are back and AR "WORKS"!! -
our company will be forced to make employees contribute 20% to their annual health insurance this coming year. this is 50.00 bucks a week for me and my wife, but for the guy's with families the portion is 75.00 a week, i feel bad for these poor family guy's, man 75 a week is close to a 2 dollar and hour reduction in pay. our companies health ins increase was 21% last year and the increase for this coming year will be around 18% or more??????? the company is Oxford and they have been making record profits and huge financial gains in the last few years, and it makes me sick to see young families in our company contimplating dropping their coverage because they just can't pay the 75 bucks a week (300 a month). these poor folks make too much for any type of public assistance and can't afford to pay for their employer based health plan any more. i asked one of the guy's what will you do if one of your kids gets sick and needs antibiotics, between that and a doctors office visit and a possible strep throat test he could be in for 500 bucks, and with 3 kids that can be 3 or 4 times a winter, anyone with kids knows how that goes. the ins companies excuse was always "the soaring cost of health care" but they leave out the part of the soaring cost of their greed at the expense of the American people, all while our gov just sits on thier hands. there are some good things coming in this health ins overhaul thingy, they got rid of the prexisting thing, and ins companies can't bump you for being too sick and all, but neither side has done a thing to contain cost, they say the health reform thing will contain cost over time but how long can America wait???

Let the Anti's do the job of being critical on hunters. why is it every time someone hears a shot that they think someones poaching, it's small game season, and turkey season and yea some guy's just like to shoot at stuff once in a while for crying out loud?? Don't be afraid theres not a poacher hiding behind every tree shooting your buck of a lifetime.

Health Insurance is something that weights heavily on almost every working mans mind today. i was wondering if any of your employers are making you pay for a percentage% of your annual premiums and how much, or if you have to pay high deductibles or meet a certain number in dollars a year to begin getting coverage? what about you guy's who run your own small businesses i can only imagine what your up against to keep your families covered? just wondering how you guy's are dealing with this as these insurance companies seem to be out to take every last drop of our blood with 20% average annual increases >

boy civil war? who's it's going to be, rich vs poor, black vs white, replicans vs democrats, latino vs whomever. makes you wonder, and it shows how well they have us divided, choosing a side would be tough.
-
makes you wonder and i really don't wanna sound like a defeatist but it seems our time at the top was so short, can this really be it???, i mean we were number 1 only since like the 50s. other empires/societies in history have lasted hundreds even thousands of years, the Romans and Ottoman empires lasted 1/2 century each, not to mention the Greeks , Where the hell did we go wrong! could it be our leadership wins first prize in corruption, or do things just happen faster in the 21st century. will the Chinese be down and out in 30 or 40 years, most experts say thier very far from even having reached their full potential? could it be we are just a flash in the pan, i'll be first to admit i'm no genius but i really don't see anyway out of this one. our politicians are doing nothing but using our current situation to make gains for themselves, and they all stand there promising us things we all know they will never be able to deliver, it's like you vote on idealism today, yea i like him because i like his/her ideas???

we got Swines, now Moose's?? -
alot of finacial experts are predicting a major economic downturn that could rival or be worse than the great depression, when and if the proverbial poo poo hits the fan we are all going down.
-
you guy's get the same feeling that i have, and that this might be the new normal, this is one of the first recessions i can remember where big corps are seeing gains and are doing well?? the recessions of the past were differant in that everyone seemed effected?
-
not saying it can't happen, but the story goes that a couple guy's out in the dark walking onto private property and this person (landowner)has the stones to go confront them in the dark with a shotgun? and then labels them as poachers huh. let me educate you alittle, poachers just don't walk onto anyones woods in the night with a flashlite in the hope of shooting deer or yotes or anything, lets get real here we all hunt right. poachers generally drive secluded roads with a spot light and pop deer with a 22cal rifle, or they shoot baited deer at night with lights. if in fact there really was 2 guy's walking into the woods on someone else's property with a firearm i highly doubt they were looking to hunt racoons.
-
hey guy's how many of you have directly been effected by whats happening in our ecoonomy. are any of you unemployed or know of friends or relatives who might be? what types of jobs have you lost and will you be able to replace that job, what about small business people out there, how are you being effected? just trying to get a feel of how bad NY is at this point, i do believe other states are far worse off than us.

i have been logging and skidding logs out of an area on my property and i see deer tracks in the mud on the very trail that i use daily, i have recently stopped logging the area(about 1 week ago) and see deer on my trail cam right in the spot where i have been cutting. i don't think they are too affected by it.
-
lets see, two guy's walking into the woods now in total darkness with a rifle? tell me how does one go about poaching by just walking into the woods in the dark. i'm sorry guy's but i'm having a tough time with this one. hey did you guy's hear about the two city hunters pulling up to a deer check on the thruway with a dead cow strapped to the hood
-
wow we are quick to condemn a couple hunters just for walking into the woods to more than likely do a little small game hunting??? first of all what makes them poachers, second was the land posted? this whole nazi, hunters eat hunters stuff is alittle over the top. you see guy's walking onto your land you go over and let them know they just walked past your POSTED signs, iffen you don't have posted signs you let them know it's your land, very simple. you guy's have these hunters labeled as killers, meth lab druggies and how dangerous they are without even knowing the story. your chances of winning lotto or getting struck by lightning in the same spot twice are far better than than getting killed by a couple hunters walking into the woods any day of the week. yawl need to lighten up alittle?

wow there's been like 2 reported sightings and already their becoming a problem?

How Stupid do they "Think" we Are - Deer Hunting Aids
sits in trees replied to wztirem's topic in General Hunting
i think some of the snort weeze things they are pushing on the hunting shows are over the top, i know for a fact you would scare a deer into the next county with the noises Mike Waddell makes when he's hunting. -
wait a minute there Doc'y, LOL, i'm pretty sure it was you who made claims of how dangerous it would be to allow crossbows into archery season, LOL, and how crossbow hunters would be shooting unsuspecting bow hunters by accident at over 100 yds, right, LOL. i would think that you would be the first to wanna see another "Gov Run" program for crossbow hunters.LOL, LOL ;D
-
yea i'm sure all those DEC biologists are just dying to have bow season replaced by hunters using firearms. once again Doc your paranoia is laughable..

NYSDEC Plans for State Forest Management
sits in trees replied to wztirem's topic in General Hunting
manage the land, sounds alittle scary for people who can't even manage the state? as far as funds being used to provide welfare recipients with flat screen TV's i doubt it, more likely to cover pensions. -
thats funny, the same thing i thought when i first saw the pic, what kinda beer is that ;D
