Reagan signed a bill in 1979 making it legal for lobbyists to directly have access to elected state officials. At the time average CEO (and the like) salaries were 40 times the average workers salary. Since then worker salaries have stayed flat adjusted for inflation and CEO salaries have skyrocketed. Corporations through their elected and bought officials have waged war on unions which while they required oversight at least insured that Worker productivity (revenue) was shared with the workers. Point is YOU KEEP BLAMING THE FREAKIN GOVT FOR EVERYTHING AND ARE TOO STUPID TO REALIZE THE CORPORATIONS HAVE YOUR ASS IN THEIR GUNSIGHTS! Knowing is half the battle...Misinformation is the enemy (BTW the most recent study out just last month indicates that Americans have gained 2 hours more leisure time each week than a few years ago)

http://www.statemaster.com Exactly where and what is NYS ranked lowest and highest? Or is it just a gut feeling? I believe in facts, stats and quantifiable information. I am tired of people beating up on New York. While we will always have our problems NY is a great state and deserves respect, regardless of who the Gov is. Exactly what categories are the important ones? -
Yes I a proud to be from New York State and New York City. NYS more than any other state has given so many the opportunity to succeed and prosper. NY has always been on the forefront of innovation and Conservation. While far from perfect it is my home and I'm dam proud of my state and it's people, all it's people.

The DEC is there the provide a wilderness experience, their campsites are intentionally less developed. The Parks, Recreation and historical sites is by intent more developed and I believe more kid friendly for younger kids.

In my younger days I would take a bunch of tenderfoot dads and their sons camping on Father's day. Taconic State Park is great for first times. Some platform sites and cabins as well as ground sites and both Copake falls and Rudd pond areas have stocked lakes for fishing. Rudd pond rents rowboats.

Wow! what a great collection! I'd be proud to own any one of them! Can't wait to see the 12 ga. shotguns, I've needed one for a long time! Can't wait to see the photos. -
Often forgotten but an indispensable tool when starting to hunt, especially at a young age is a hunting journal. I'm originally from Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn!

I have a high ranch on long island that i live in and a brownstone in brooklyn that i rent (I keep an apartment for us) and I'm planning on moving to the lower half of columbia county once my second kid is out of high school and i sell the house on long island.
-
i wanna bump this for more input but i also want to mention that my wife and I would be using the property over the year for camping (planning on dropping a pop up onsite) and as a HQ while we continue to look for property to buy in the area. I will be hunting it in season.
-
Currently the purchase price is $85,000

I may have the opportunity to lease 28 acres in Columbia county (with an option to buy). Its mostly lightly wooded and hilly with a small wetland to the back of the property. It borders a large power line right of way that seems to be a game highway. It is a stones throw from the Taconic parkway and I've seen deer, turkey and other game there. The question is what is a fair price for leasing property for hunting and camping? So if anyone has had any experience with this sort of thing please speak up! Thanks!

There is only one way to know if youre being treated fairly when selling gold or silver. You must know the spot month value of what youre selling. This is not hard to do, a good scale and good loop for reading the type of gold or silver if you weighting jewelery and if youre sell silver coins there are plenty of website which will clue you in as to silver percentages or intrinsic coin value. Once you know what the spot value at any given time is you can bargain. Be wary of places that say "what do you want for it" a shady question to which i would shoot back the full spot value i had figured out before walking into anyplace. However remember you will never get the full spot value from any store front. Every time I was offered a fair price I'd ask for another 100 bucks and get it. Know the value going in!

Surplus military bridge? But seriously I've know a person or two who have use shipping containers for bridges. A friend in Canada used one to control access to the bridge by leaving the doors on one side and torching the other end open.

Now show me the article(s) that say New York has done the opposite of all that Washington State is doing.

Geeze you guys are never happy about anything! A dollar ain't enough! This has to be a conspiracy! Out of state hunters are gonna come here an buy all our ammo! The sky is falling! No wonder all the non gun owners are afraid of us! P.S. I wear a tin foil hat while hunting under a camo one of course! -
Hello! I've been scouting New Forge, Taconic and Harvey/Beebe state lands and trying to find private land on Columbia for some time. Welcome!!

In my field (Home automation/entertainment/security) This is our slowest months new homes aren't started, no one want to hang a camera off a ladder in this month unless there is no choice. I'll have a two day flurry of activity JUST before Super Bowl time.

Grass is always greener... OVER THE SEPTIC TANK. BYE! (Is this all gut feeling or has ANYONE looked at numbers? per capita earning? water rights? Natural disaster rates? Go west young man get thrown in jail for placing a rain barrel...) oh and sinkholes, gotta love the land opening up under you and sucking you down.
