Some of us just got old and once we retired and were on a fixed income, the money dried up... Also, such hunts are MUCH more expensive than they were when I was doing them.....I did an Alaska DIY float trip in 1989 ... The hunt, which included float plane flying from Anchorage to and back from The Mulchatna River ( west of the AK range) renting rafts and equipment was $1100 for one hunter... You could do the whole trip door to door from NY for $3K per person, including airfare to and from AK, if you didn't spend too much money at the The Great Alaska Bush Company.. Not that I ever went there...

I have loaded most of my centerfire rifle rounds for the last 45 years...A couple of my rifles have never had a factory load fired through them... Loaded .222 Rem, 25-06, .270 Win, 7 x57, 7MM08, .280 Rem, 7MM rem mag, 30-30, 30-06, 8 x57, .35 Rem, .338 Win mag, and 9.3 x 62....Most of my loading now is for the two rifles that I use the most for deer, the 7MM08 and the .280...

Okay...Friday, Saturday and Sunday.....Temps in the mid 40s all three days.....Lets see some pictures...

What Tacks said....I have had no problems killing bunnies with low brass 7.5s in my 20 gauge IC/Mod side/side... I prefer 6s, simply because they put less pellets in the meat, not because I need the heavier shot to kill rabbits..

I love springers, Jerry.. Had 3 of them over the years, all male, all liver&white.... The second one flushed and retrieved a limit of woodcock( 5 at that time) for me including one water retrieve when he was six months old....Great dogs...

A quality 28 gauge SXS, blued, nice walnut and double triggers.... OR a quality bolt action rifle in 6.5 x 55, 7x57, or 8x57, blued, walnut, of course... OR a tactical type 12 gauge shotgun that holds LOTS of shells, and enough 00 buck to keep the riff raff off my lawn, at least until my beer and groceries run out, after which I don't GAS......
