Little more info on the property... I have a 2 acre food plot. In the early season I had plenty of deer sightings but 90 percent of them within the half hour before sundown. Once the third weekend of october hit and the days got shorter it was like a switch hit and we started seeing nothing. I do not live on the property so I'm not there very often. The other day i was so angry that i got a spot light (no gun) and climbed into a viewing stand i have that is over looking the food plot. From 345 AM to 6 am i saw 10 deer in and out of the food plot. Once the sun started to come up they were gone. I sit on the trails that i follow in the snow coming to and from the plot, and i see literally nothing...

Need some help . The deer on my property are completely nocturnal . I pull around 2-300 pictures a week on my plot all at night but will see nothing during the day . I can't take much more of this

Does anyone know of any consultants in the Catskills?

I aged the first buck as a much older buck also with just a smaller rack. I agreed on 2 1/2 for the second

Both of them?

Be careful with the throw and grow packages you buy. I know alot of them are compassed of Rye Grass which is commonly mistaken for winter rye. Rye grass is a strang of lawn gross, it pops up almost anywhere and creates a green illusion that most of us think is a good looking food plot, its not. Its not very palatable to deer. You may see some deer in there but it is because they are eating the other 40 percent of ingredients which I can guarantee will be a mix of clover, oats or rye and a small amount of Brassica I think the evolved harvest bag is good but wouldnt be sure. For best bet look on online or order from Welter Seed Co in Iowa a mixture of Ladino Clovers, Rye and a small amount of Purple Top Turnips. Good luck

Im in the catskills we dont usually have very many big bucks. Anything 6 or better probably wont survive the gun season unless hes real stealthy. These two bucks keep showing up...will they grow more or just little 2 year olds?

My foodplotting progress...

Went up to the camp this weekend since I had a break off from work and got some planting done. First frost for me has come in late September the past few years and I had the time with the thunderstroms coming tomorrow. Planted Lickcreek Mix. Because we do a lot of bow hunting and clover was so thick we went 50 % clover 25 % Grasses 25% brassica. We rototilled the entire new plot area. Fertilized with 46-0-0 and the 6-24-24 planted and cultipacked. We actually used a lawn roller off of amazon that you fill with water as a cultipacker and it worked great. Here is a picture of me spraying the clover with cleth and a view of the grasses plot in the back. there is a variety of 10 apple trees below where this picture ends. They are still fenced off and are starting to produce fruit Here is a shot of the brassica plot that has crab apples running throughout it. We sprayed the bases of the crab apples and fertilized accordingly. And finally here is a gun stand that we built overlooking the plots Deer are showing up more often and looking fatter than ever just need to start seeing some mass.
