  1. Get a bow and enjoy the bow season. Or a xbow and hunt 3p for doe or buck. I only hunt where i can get either a doe or a buck.
  2. Goole the park name with dec tossed in there. If they dont specifically say no u generally have to obey nystate laws for distance. To be sure just call the dec officer who handles that area. They have always been real helpful to me.
  3. that was kinda painful to watch. kids had good shots but man I hate baggin on people but this guy should just let his kids hunt.
  4. shoot it and call it a day. figure out the rest later. but I would not waste a thing
  5. thanks, will definitely look up fort drum. how often do they do the shooting test?
  6. So this will be my second year out, had a blast last year and wondering if taking the trip up state for early bow would be worth it. Last year I blew a week of vacation time on the first week of bow and realized half way through the season I should have taken it during the rut. (live and learn) so this year Im not taking any major time off right away but want to get an early start and figure heading upstate for early bow would be cool (last years tags I believe). Used the DEC forecast to choose my best bet which looks like 6G but im wondering if its worth it for just two days of hunting and no scouting. My plan is to pick one of the state forests in the area (nothing to big since I dot have much time ) , show up early AM Friday, sleep a few hours in the car and get up Saturday and mostly stalk/scout the morning walking whatever game trails I find then setup my treestand for a night sit. sit the same spot I setup my stand in the AM / rinse and repeat for sunday. either way I know I will learn something but with deer being in their summer patterns will that help my chances or hurt em? bucks should still be in velvet and in bachelor groups from what I have been reading which should make hunting them a bit easier but since I wont be seeing rubs, sign I would be looking for would be confined to scat and finding heavily used trails to set up on correct? Thanks for any help cant wait to get out there and scratch that itch
  7. would be cool but im praying to get one in the fridge this year
  8. I wana say blood bath but my kid has a big mouth and would prolly tell his teachers who would then misunderstand about the blood bath in the shower comment and have the cops at my door.
  9. Your enjoyment. just because they got bow classes wrong doesn't mean people shouldn't enjoy em
  10. Man i hope they paying you. saw a couple vids you did before and picked those up for my wifes xbow

  13. Westchester has some good deer but OMG when the hunters hit its CRAZY. I bowhunted Westchester during rifle and it wasn't to bad after rifle ended it got CRAZY.
  14. odd that im not in to much of a rush. enjoying fishing, I know when the season starts fishing will be on the backburner. realllly need to do a bit of scouting
  15. Deer Flies, thank you. I was doing some fishing around some marshy area and got bit by a HUGE fly. hurt like hell, didn't know what it was
  16. always consider myself lucky when I see a rabit. though its never when they are in season
  17. Floyd Bennet is nice for outdoors they have targets out to about 80 or 90 yards and depending on when you go it aint that bad. dawn till dusk and you need a permit that runs from jan to dec for 50 bucks.
  18. I was doing a Caw Caw Caw as loud as I could from on top of a little hill well not right at the top. and no id dint get a response every time. think it actually scared em away but I did have a lovely conversation with a crow as well
  19. So I got a new crow call and went out today and it worked like a charm was able to "locate" the general direction of but couldn't connect. so i guess i got the crow calling down. now to work on my turkey calls cause i couldn't call in a bird for nothin
  20. nice work, cant wait to have one hanging from my wall
  21. bottom of my quiver just has foam in it. another of my quivers has plumber tubing in it and I wrapped the top with some foam padding to stop it from making noise when I walk. got the idea from: http://www.unluckyhunter.com/2011/08/diy-backpack-quiver.html same backpack but I made it my own. tubes don't need to be that long and I only carry two or 3 broadheads to leave room for extra arrows to shoot stumps or small game
  22. got a excal axiom for my wife. she does the xbow thing and loves it. shoots spot on out the box, minor adjustting
