  1. He's gonna be tricky. He didn't get that big by bein' dumb. I just have to be smarter than he is....
  2. Found this guy on my trail cam that I have on private land that I hunt. I took a lot of looks at him and so did other people and they all figured him to be 5-6 y/o and called him "Pitchfork" and it just stuck with him so, this is the buck I am hunting this year unless of course, somebody nicer decides to come out and wants to be put down.
  3. I hunt on private land that I have permission to hunt. Unfortunately it isn't mine and with that whole DEC Law that we can't feed Whitetails I can't put anything down.... I am going to be moving my blinds tomorrow...hopefully this helps...
  4. I'm hunting in a plot of woods around a somewhat light residential area. The pictures showed that the deer were hanging around but once the season started BANG!! they were gone. I've got 3 blinds out in the woods and I am thinking that they may have retreated deeper into the woods. I also have an open corridor by a water tank that I think might be a nice lane to set up on. I may take an afternoon to move my blinds around then give it a day or 2 for anything in the area to get used to seeing them in a new spot. I've had my blinds where they are now since the beginning of the season. Should I move or wait for them to come to me which, I haven't seen anything in 3 1/2 weeks except a turkey that I missed this past Tuesday....
  5. Hey all, During the preseason, I put out a few trail cameras and got about 300 pictures of deer on a small plot of woods behind my house here in Orange County. A buddy of mine and I saw 2 deer once the season started and a rookie that went with us got a button buck around the 15th of October. Other than that, we have seen nothing. Is there something that I am forgetting or not doing to keep the deer around or is there something that I can do to get them back in the area? I want to go hunt but I am getting a little discouraged with going out to the woods and just sitting there all day and seeing nothing but chipmunks and squirrels. I'm only in my 2nd season myself so.... Thanks y'all!!
  6. Hey y'all, I am going to be going out for an afternoon hunt tomorrow. (In my blind by 12:30 p.m.) I have multiple ground blinds set up to give me some choices of where to go. I have 2 blinds up top a hill in the woods, one facing east and one facing west and 1 blind down at the bottom of the hill facing east north east. The blind down below is in an area that I have close to 300 pictures of deer but haven't seen one since the season started. Do I hunt the top of the hill and if I do, which way do I face or do I sit down below and see what happens? Thanks all!!
  7. Hello all, This site was recommended to me by an old Army buddy of mine so I thought that I would come check it out. My actual name is Michael and I am really new to hunting. The 2013 season will be only my second season of hunting. I didn't get anything last year. I did take a shot at a big 8-pointer last year but I missed horribly and didn't see another deer the rest of the season. I do fish as well. I'm hoping that this site will help me advance my skills and make a better and more well versed hunter as well as helping make sure that I am legal to the law of the current season. I look forward to meeting you all!!
