Good luck, I'm heading up sunday morning for a week of bowhunting leading up to rifle opener. 4w

Never use water from a pond or stream, if it needs to be cleaned use tap or bottled water when you get it home. Water from a pond contains bacteria.
chances are you wont get sick from it due to cooking the meat but leaving it hang after washing it in a stream can be an issue

SHould be fine to eat. Rinse it good to get the gook out. I would stay away from the tender loins.

After a good rain you should be ok. If they're hungry they'll eat it

Id move that camera up high and angle it down. Not a true Black Flash, so youll have the same issues with spooking as any other IR cam. That reaction was not a good one.
Yeah I'm going to move it a bit further away. hopefully the rut makes him stupid

I just hung a scrape dripper with active scrape scent in it. spread some evercalm on the licking branch

with his reaction, do you think he'll come back at night? what camera?
I hope not, I want him back in daylight Wildgame Innovation lights out 6

Great read.....Only problem is in NYS southern tier 4 1/2 year old deer are hard to come by. I could see that deer making it out of the spike stage where I hunt but once he was sporting that 2 1/2 year old rack he would be a prime target for the majority of hunters in the southern zone.
I feel your pain

I use the Canon Playsport with decent results, at half the price

This happened within walking distance of my house. My FD provided lighting at the scene

We had this same debate in NJ when they were introduced. After a few seasons it's become a non issue

I'm not sure it's necessarily a threat, but as mentioned above by Stealthe3, anyone who plans to use a crossbow to hunt this fall should have to sit through a mandatory course. Or only make the tags available to those that already have their archery certification. I don't think a lot of the new crossbow hunters fully understand their limitations because a lot of them don't archery hunt. They could end up wounding more deer than killing because they are making poor shot selections. People need to be educated on their implements, that's why there are pistol courses, bow courses, and hunter/gun safety courses. There should be a crossbow course now too.
I agree. I see an issue of over confidence taking long shots

Just curious as to what everyone thats against them feel the threat is ? I dont hunt with or own one but I do hunt with friends that use them, and honestly I could care less.

No you didn't sound snarky at all. I'm just saying it's frustrating for me that whenever I want to do something I basically have to plan it weeks ahead of time because of the travel time

Time is always an issue when not living where your food plots are. My advice to you is focus on the late summer plantings, brassicas, turnips, radishes etc, for a couple of yrs. Gives you time to work the soil all spring and summer, then when you get the ph and weeds under control put in a perennial, maybe clover and chicory. With some help and mowing it will last a few yrs.
