  1. Yeah, it looked old. I scanned the area for any human remains, but didn't find anything (thank god). I was afraid that I was looking at an old suicide or something.
  2. People are stupid. I saw a guy buy a brand new muzzleloader yesterday to start in the northern zone tomorrow. I've seen people buying the deer bait previously, but honestly, I'm not so sure it works when you dump it the day before. Apparently some people have no hunting skills...
  3. I've noticed a whole lot of nothing when it comes to small game. I'm blaming the 'yotes. So, once I'm done with my deer season, 'yote hunting it is.
  4. LOL... define "upstate". Jefferson county has some good spots.
  5. Mossberg 835 ultimag, super-full choke, winchester supreme XX copper plated number 5 in 3 in shells. I get great groups out to 50+ yrds, but that's the farthest shots I'll take, so I don't shoot farther, even when patterning.
  6. I say 'yote. It pretty much looks like one, but don't forget our 'yotes are "wolf mix".... :
  7. My cam has taken TONS of weeds waving, leaves falling, etc. One thing I did notice, little birds flitting by will do it too, like chicadees. So, yup, random things will set off a cam.
  8. I've found some stuff out there. I too have found a pot plantation, but mine was unharvested. State Troopers came out and took care of it. I found a moonshine still in an old foundation. Plenty of cars and trucks. A noose in a tree (hopefully unused) A cast iron stove in the middle of nowhere.. and I mean nowhere... A tree wearing ladies undergarments. All kinds of old logging equipment, axes, saws, tractor treds, etc. You spend enough time in the woods, you'll find the weird stuff...
  9. Nice looking buck. Considering how many sets of antlers I've seen this year, any ivory is nice.
  10. Got some more pics on the trail cam. Only a doe, but I'm happier with the results. Now I just need to find her boyfriend.
  11. Wow. Brave man putting up a game cam on state land. Surprised it didn't come up missing. Nice bucks too.
  12. Well, give me some coordinates to his location, and I'll be happy to remove him for you.... ???
  13. Map and compass, let someone know where you're going and when you plan to be back, bring a backpack with emergency supplies. Oh, and don't expect to see too many deer.
  14. I am actually working on an article, but it's for submission to a magazine. If no one buys it, I'd put it up here...
  15. I don't know about the DMPs, but when it comes to permits to hunt state parks, first come first serve is terrible for anyone that works. I prefer the lottery system. At least I know I'll get one every few years. A first come first serve basis, I'd never get one.
  16. They estimate the NY moose herd to be about 700 animals. They say that when the herd reaches 1700-2000 they will consider the hunt.
  17. Nice to see from scouting to the finishline... well, okay, the finish line would be you cooking steaks on the grill,.... lol
  18. Nice pics. Agree, we have too many 'yotes up here in 6A. I'm picking up an old past time, hunting for 'yotes, and now a new pasttime in trapping 'yotes. I blame them for the lack of deer numbers I'm seeing.
  19. Late born maybe? I see a note of spots yet. The impressive part is that she's still got both twins.
  20. I agree it looks like a grinner. Turkeys are making me think about next Friday...
  21. Awesome. So, any type of branch work better than others?
