I am not a successful turkey hunter but I do enjoy being out there. 3 years ago on Mother's Day at about 9:30 or so my cousin and I were hunting and after not hearing any gobblers were about to go home. I suggested moving closer to a field and trying one last call from inside the woods.My cousin let loose with a mouth call and got a loud gobble back.We quickly got set up and he called two mature toms in.One rode home with us. We almost went home because we hadn't heard anything.Good luck.

Congratulations, I think killing a turkey is truly an accomplishment in hunting to be proud of.

A friend and I heard 2 this morning but the first one gobbled more because of the geese honking than to our calling.One did pass near us but didn't respond to my calls.It did gobble at a bluejay near me.They didn't seem interested in our calling but they gobbled at every other bird sound.Yesterday I heard one at dawn and after that I may as well have been at a library it was so quiet.

I read Bin Laden hid behind a woman like the coward he was until the Seals sent him to hell where he belongs.And for all the Obama bashers spare me on this one, the guy made the right call and deserves some applause too.As an American I am proud of our military and government today.

I am sorry for your loss.It is wonderful that your mom was able to live a long life and still making bread at 89 years.My wonderful grandmother was 89 when she fell in her senior living apartment.She never recovered either. They will always be alive in our memories and in our hearts.

I saw 3 toms, one fanned out next to King's Highway in Durand yesterday too. No one to bother them there I presume.

Cool, I bought a summit viper last year and I love it.Fast,quiet,comfortable and sturdy.Sometimes the treestands are out of stock so it was good you were able to get one.

I thought target shooting was allowed as long as it was being done safely and NOT damaging trees or anything else besides the ground perhaps.The people leaving spent shells,targets and other garbage are ignorant and selfish slobs. I had an ECO pull up and ask me if I was target shooting last year.He was very courteous and just making sure I was not a poacher.I asked if target shooting was allowed and he told me just don't shoot down the trail which I was not. I told him I just wanted to check my pattern for turkey hunting and he told me where I could find turkeys on the state land we were on.He may have told me to pick up after myself but I do anyways. Erussel I admire you for picking up after the ones that give us all a black eye.

I was at the Ossian state forest today.I stopped to read a state sign posted on a tree and saw at least 30 shotgun shells lying in the seasonal use road.There is an area with a dirt mound that I have been to before. I wanted to shoot my shotgun today so that is where I went.When I pulled up I found wood from targets,plastic and shell casings. I set up my cardboard,shot 1 round,picked up what I brought and left.Many other times I have picked up garbage from hunters and target shooters but not today. This is why the NO TARGET SHOOTING signs go up.

He should not have volunteered to have an apple on his head. How could an arrow be on that straight of an angle,on center, by "accident" ?
