  1. To anyone looking to buy air rifles, just a reminder that Crosman employs New Yorkers in Canandaigua (spelling ?). I believe Crosman owns Benjamin now too.
  2. I have a Winchester air rifle made by daisy, .177 cal. 1000 fps. They are fun to shoot.I have not hunted with it but I wouldn't mind trying.I did end a chipmunk's suffering after it got in to some poison a neighbor uses to kill them. Also have a Crosman G1 Extreme new in the box that I am saving to shoot with my kids.
  3. If there are < 1000 in PA. isn't it only a matter of time before they reach NY ? It sounds like hunting preserves in NY should be banned from having wild boars/swine. I saw some wild pigs in Fla. next to a highway I was driving on, between Orlando and Port Canaveral. One of these articles said Fla. has had wild pigs since 1539.That's a lot of bacon.
  4. Good idea.I am not a fan of on the ground sitting.Too uncomfortable for me,usually bothers my hip and my legs go to sleep.I wonder if that old beach chair is still in my garage ..........
  5. http://www.boone-crockett.org/bgrecords/bc_scoring_typwhitetail.asp?area=bgrecords&type=Typical+Whitetail+Deer This might help you.
  6. I have. I never took a turkey from Letchworth but they are there. At least they were back then.I have heard and seen turkeys in the park but again that was several years ago.Beautiful park even if you don't see any.
  7. Nice mount, I think the walnut was a great choice. Was that your Sodus bow buck ?
  8. I thought so too.Plus the fact that they are from about 115 yrs. ago and NY.

    Why?

When I finally go my kids will probably find that old bow in a closet or the basement.Just one of those things that get kept .
  10. I found this by accident and thought someone else might find it interesting too.http://cgi.ebay.com/1896-1st-Ed-Denton-Antique-Hunting-Deer-Antler-/110602965108?pt=Art_Prints&hash=item19c0735074
  11. I know what you mean Four Seasons even though I am not as brave as you are.I have seen some drop-offs that were eye raising in the park and walked some of the thickets that are like roller coasters by the river.I would love to see the tree rubs from these two bucks.
  12. For the gun hunters: What gage, constriction of choke, shot size and load works for you and how far do you feel confident shooting? I am going to use a 12 ga. 3 1/2 inch loaded with Winchester Supreme 2 oz. of #5 shot through a .670 Carlson choke. 40 yd range.

    Why?

When I was about 12 I bought this Bear bow from my cousins.I think I had about three arrows and can remember shooting at aluminum cans in the backyard. I remember enjoying archery in gym class at school and a few summer camps too.many years later I bought a Darton compound at a small town fishing and hunting supply store and took my bow course with a couple buddies, not really knowing what the heck I was doing but wanting to learn. After a few years of being frustrated and impatient I really began to appreciate being in the woods and seeing nature up close.Every year I think I enjoy it more.
  14. Well if these are indeed from Letchworth, me thinks I need a new stand location.
  15. Probably not. I have to believe when hunting means food or no food , a rack or beard size wouldn't be as important as it is to some modern hunters. But I wasn't around then so I can only assume.
  16. Your friend is very talented. What I thought was different about some of Jack Paluh's work is the Eastern American Indian hunting prints. I have not noticed many artists working on that subject. Most hunters on this site are hunting former Eastern Indian lands so the connection was there. Also the colors on the prints were vivid and that stood out as well.
  17. I tried ice fishing once.By the time we cut a hole big enough for my buddies boat ,WE WERE TOO TIRED TO FISH!
  18. Some of you that were at the recent Rochester gun show may have seen a vendor selling this artists work.I was very impressed with the subject and qaulity of the prints on canvas that I saw.At least one of these is on my wish list.Check out his website and story. http://www.jackpaluh.com/index.html
  19. Gander Mt. in Henrietta had Bear and Son (MADE IN USA) 3 inch closed folding Trapper knives for $10 + tax . They had at least 20 when I was there at noon today. These are 2 blade folding knives with delrin handles. Also had a couple 4 1/8 in closed two blade folders with stag handles for $15. These were half off the red tag clearance prices.Usually $40- $60 for these.http://www.bearandsoncutlery.com/index.php?src=directory&view=Products&submenu=4THGeneration&category=4THGeneration&query=%28category.eq.4THGeneration%29.and.%28category.eq.4THGeneration%29&refno=245&srctype=Products_detail
  20. So many deer,so little time ... You have been busy fasteddie.Nice pictures.
  21. That's great that you do the youth Turkey hunt.It won't be long now. What a memory that would be for a young hunter if they took one of those gobblers home!(Or an old hunter for that matter).
  22. About 26 years ago I saw one swimming at Nick's Lake in the ADKS. It was November.I don't believe I have seen a wild one since.
  23. Nice.So which tree will you be sitting against ?
