  1. I have shot both in excess, including a Browning Maxus (in same category IMO). I will add my experience with the browning in the event you get to the store and they try to show it to you as an option in the same class of gun. I'm a big browning auto 5 guy so my opinion may be bias to receiver shape but it's what worked for me. All guns have low recoil compared to a pump or o/u or s/s and wasn't an issue for either so I won't mention it. Maxus: Didn't like Maxus as it's gas and that the rear of the receiver is too round for me (like I said I'm an auto 5 fan). It was too round and my sight plane was off. Too much adjusting when shouldered (didn't shoulder well for my tall frame). It's a gas gun so it gets a little dirty and takes longer to clean. SBE2: Better than the Maxus for shouldering and cleaning - not gas operated. Didn't have an issue with the "Bellini click" people sometimes talk about. The rear of the receiver has a slight dogleg/kick in it so it helped when shouldered and was slightly reminiscent of what I grew up shooting (auto 5). Vinci: By far my favorite of your choices. Again it's clean and easy to maintain - not gas operated. It comes apart in seconds with no parts to lose in the mud (mag cap). The rear of the receiver has a significant kick or dogleg which I liked a whole lot. It made aiming a snap. I can't stress how much I personally liked this gun. It shouldered so well, was well balanced and swung well for me. The other thing is to remember that the Vinci is chambered for 2.75" - 3" shells. I assume you want a gun in 3.5" (as you compared it to the SBE2). If so, you should be looking at the "Super Vinci"
  2. last I checked they don't produce that rifle in 300 win mag, so I assume it's a standard .308
  3. Some have already dropped in 1C. Saw one baldie ~2 weeks ago.
  4. that 32 gun field and stream safe is on sale... Anyone have experience with this safe? Worth it or not as a "real decent safe" that will keep most thieves out?
  5. That is classic! I see some of the equipment my father used back in the day for work and compare it to what I use today. It's night and day! I bet that record player still works!
  6. I'm lazy, was looking for electronic... Just being honest haha!
  7. My coworker just secured a fox hunting property on the the island. Unfortunately, he has no predator call and my foxpro is upstate and I can't justify buying a new one, or driving up to get it. Is there anyone on here located on the island that wouldn't mind loaning out their predator call for a few days? I can provide collateral as security. Thanks in advance!
  8. I hunt 2-3 days during the week after work, sometimes 4 if i'm lucky. Then AM & PM of the weekends if the time hasn't been allocated without my knowing....
  9. It's really not that bad, and with the moon it's not pitch black.
  10. I'm in ~1.5 hrs b-4 first light, earlier if I'm in a bedding area. Have gotten a few deer minutes after shooting time this way. I also pattern the other hunters on adjacent (private) land. Most of them I can set my watch to. Each property and sometimes area of a property is different.
  11. That system does stink to high heaven! The funniest part about it is they give you the confirmation number or whatever they call it it like 150mph!
  12. I'm looking to take my better half pheasant hunting around Christmas time in PA. Are there any preserves in PA that you would recommend?
  13. Well the verdict is in. It was pretty good. Probably the grill issue kept it from reaching it's full potential. Thanks for the recipe idea.
  14. put some deer in the coke/ketchup mixture this morning. Just got home - empty propane tank on the grill and the backup is on the camper at my fathers place! Not driving to town and back. It may be sacrilege but its got to get done on the stove...
  15. Thanks guys, I'm sure I'll give most of them a whirl. Have a good day at work or in the woods!
  16. Wow! Ok, sounds interesting and something I'm willing to try. What other ideas do we have ladies and gentlemen?
  17. Ok, so I'm in search of a tasty marinade. I have had it only from a local butcher shop that wont divulge their recipe. I usually get it on these pre-marinated skirt steaks. The marinade tastes sweet and savory. The marinade definitely has oil, something sweet, (thinking molasses or honey?) and possibly worcestershire sauce or balsamic vinegar. Does anyone have a recipe for a marinade that has these ingredients? I know its hard to explain how something tastes via keyboard but I'm at a loss and that marinade is fantastic! Please post if you have something similar! Thanks in advance!
