  1. With the adrenaline running for i think over 45 mins, guys nerves had to be beyond shot, he did well
  2. that was a wild hunt, not knocking the guy but the deer was wounded too far back. he didn't know where the arrow hit but the guy 100% made the right call in coming back in the morning instead of pushing the deer that night. great buck
  3. Seems like a lot of upsets going on and Orangemen just got upset. Teams that should have cruised to a win losing, but thats the tourney
  4. congrats on a nice buck and mount
  5. I have a day afield coming very soon, otherwise I'll need a psychiatrist.
  6. Welcome Mike, glad to see a lurker is joining the fun
  7. Man, I hate to hear this and your overall ordeal. But you have to feel some sort of relief that it was the gun and not the shooter. Losing confidence in your shooting is as detrimental as having a bent barrel. Hopefully they can get a tack driver ready for you without too much more delay. I would hope that they go the extra mile in standing behind the Browning tradition and getting you straight. I am a very loyal .308 guy as it is one of the best and versatile all around cartridges made, never selling or going without the .308 for deer sized game but .270 would be one heck of an alternative if they could deliver one of those instead . I would totally understand sticking to the .308...best of luck to you and can't wait for the future updates
  8. Sanchez was always a bum IMO USC QB's rarely turn out to great pros with exception. They are playing in Hollywood and are local celebs in a celeb environment, they are the man as college kids. then to the pros where the competition is 4 times that of college, when they do not have the level if success as college it is a major ego hit and they get worse. USC does produce some bonafide defensive studs that flourish in the pros. Vick is an improvement over Smith who I also think is a bum, but definitely not elite. Maybe he has a good season and the Jets make da playoffs. Vick cannot withstand big hits, even when he was in his prime and the most electrifying player in the league his threshold was 2 very hard hits, he would fall apart. So fast fwd 10 yrs + prison stint and Jets still got issues
  9. Nice looking bucks and welcome aboard.
  10. Welcome, shoot if I had the time and didn't have to worry about money I would probably be doing similar things.
  11. The .220 swift is better than 3800fps....screaming!!! You will definitely get more range out of the swift than the hornet. I guess it all depends on the intended range you want to hunt. .22 hornet is a great very hot (fast ) cartridge but not near as hot as the swift. I think you get serious projectile drop after 200 yds in the hornet
  12. I am all about a Muddy Outfitter for a hang on. Very comfortable seat and the seat height is one of the taller out there. They are are about $150. A lot of people are crazy about the lone wolf, I have no exp with those, also man brands out there that may look comfy but aren't or they weigh a ton as far as lock ons go. Trying to hang a heavy lock on from 15-20', heck any height for that matter can be a chore. I also own Muddy Sticks... The ones with the folding steps and wonder where they have been all my life. Great stuff....but if I were just leaving them in place I would go for cheaper and heavier sticks. I use my sticks and bring 4-5 Cranford Deluxe EZY steps in case I need a few more feet and always one above the stand to aide as a handhold when I get in the stand.
  13. .22 hornet will put the smackdown on them @ reasonable distances less than 200...22 Hornet is a scalding fast round. The ammo can be tough to find
  14. they go from orange to a burnt orange color as they ripen. it looks like a persimmon to me, but there are a few things that make me wonder. Persimmons are usually long gone by mid fall and i am used to seeing larger seeds
  15. All good ideas from everybody....so do what they said...now get in the woods!!! Take excursions into the wilds, walking and sitting attempting to improve your skills when it's not hunting season . Bounce around to various state parks to have different terrain and areas . Push yourself walking further and sitting longer getting comfortable and able to "slip" around in the woods is what you need to build. Being a good woodsman will benefit you when the time comes more than anything in my mind, other than making sure there is the desired game actually on or frequently on the property your hunting. It is a lengthy process as in yrs but if the hunting bug sticks then you could be addicted and loving it .
  16. I have a similar smaller collection....clearance items that I couldn't pass
  17. Ammo has been hard to get for 5-6 yrs now?? I have gone periods of 6 months not being able to get my hands on variety of ammo....in North Carolina it was always the land of plenty for all firearms and related items...past few yrs finding ammo was a treasure hunt...stores that were always packed ....once the shortages started I was smart and loaded up every chance I had...a lot of online ordering and backorders. Unless some sort of revolution breaks out I am good to go...will still buy up whatever I can when I can. Call me crazy but I some what looked at it like an investment. After sandy hook I realize I was smart to stock up
  18. I have probably 100-150 Federal .308 brass...it's in NC but my next trip down it can be retrieved...this is spent factory loaded federal premium...never reloaded...my trip could be months away
  19. Lol...last thing I wanna do is google a nut job in ma's basement...might turn up disturbing images
  20. I second WNY, I do not own a Vortex scope but i own binos. Outstanding glass for the money and world class warranty. Vortex has taken the hunting and shooter world by storm over the past few yrs. All of their products have outstanding reviews for each price point.
