  1. welcome....quite the collection of trophies
  2. Firm believer of QDM here....because I have seen the results in the span of 4 yrs on more than one property.....Obviously your not doing it on small acreage unless you have surrounding partners....if you let them grow the deer sightings go up...deer that are 1.5-3.5 have been running around all their life without arrows and bullets whissing by them...they certainly get more cagey with age but success rates in big boys will go up.
  3. Choices galore Layering is still the way to go but the addition of a good jacket can make borderline comfortable turn into toasty. Cabelas MT050 is great, Filson. etc etc..so many out there, just depends on your price range. I bought a Cabela's pullover fleece with windstopper few yrs back and makes a world of difference as the layer just under my jacket...good luck
  4. Beautiful gun.....never shot one but they are supposedly very accurate....and did I mention beautiful. Have seen several ive drooled over, seems like I have always seen price tags of 1K+, but don't know I've seen one for sale in 5+ yrs

I process most of the deer myself, I do take some of the meat to a processor for ground and or sausage. I am patient yet efficient when processing, over the years I have learned to follow the muscle lines and will say that it ends up looking somewhat professional.
  6. unless you have collectible coins you want someone paying spot price....if you have collectible coins you want a reputable coin shop, i am guessing that 95% of silver dollars are considered junk silver the good one are hard to find....hopefully someone here knows a lot more than I do....I know a little cause I have sold some here and there...there are coin value websites that you can do a little research on what could be a valuable coin but then there is the grading of the coin which is really out of knowledge base
  7. I would simply say "I am exercising my 2nd Amendment right" personally I would only buy a firearm from a true gun store...nothing wrong with anyone who purchases from a chain store, not knocking it, you find a deal where you find it. If I were to attempt to buy a firearm from one of the chain/department type stores...and the liberal wahoo employee who is wrinkling their brow @ my purchase decides to say to a manager....this guy gives me a bad vibe, just to push their freaked out agenda, I guarantee you wont get the gun. Imagine in the event they are running your check and somehow could communicate that the clerk has a "bad feeling" (dont know if its possible) and your going to be on some sort of blacklist for god knows how long. I am not some paranoia addict...lol...but the anti's, most who are way beyond the lexicon of clueless....have no issue resorting to any tactic available to keep guns out of good law abiding citizens.....
  8. X 2 on Survivorman....only one out there solo...the other shows can be entertaining but when they portray an uh oh situation where all hope might be lost....they have the camera crews
  9. I have definitely seen bucks still carrying in April. I have also shot deer in late December that had the antler come loose by dragging. The better health and condition of a buck the longer the deer holds the antler is the prevailing scientific theory. A drop in testosterone is what triggers the process.....
  10. Remington makes a youth 870.....just an option
  11. Phade & Nyantler are speaking the truth, most of the mature deer I have taken have been on a falling barometer
  12. I hunt very hard 2 days before and after any significant weather front..as my schedule permits. I love to be in the stand when the rain stops after a day or two of rain as well
  13. Never used the covert but always heard good things....wingsupply is a great place as well as Natchez Shooters Supply ...bought at least two primos cams several yrs back and they performed flawlessly with excellent pics.....lot of options out there but please do your homework cause there is more junk out there then good ones
  14. its getting your motions to do things on a subconscious level, it should come fluent so you can put focus on another area and minimal focus on others since it becomes second nature. When you do, things come together smoothly and more natural. Geno.....I think you have discovered the root of the issue....& definitely on the right track....I have issues after too much shooting....when practicing if my mechanics begin to hiccup I stop....got to be a comfortable fluid motion and anchor...
  15. Don't know much on moose & people confrontations and don't need to know too much to see that mr. snowmobiler was pushing his luck....I am going to bet the guy is not a hunter as he shows no respect for the moose before during or after the whole ordeal....and he posts the video to boot.....IMO ....total lack of respect for the animal...with all that said I would love to know the outcome with LE....technically the idiot did save his life from a charging moose that attacked....unless this guy was required to take some sort of course for interaction with the wild things....which I doubt....he will probably get off...unfortunately common sense is not prevalent in the justice system
  16. Guy definitely rolled the yote....#5 shot?? did pretty well.....I most definitely have a firearm on me approaching any down game
  17. good deal then.....i would think it should bring more $ being a military collectable
  18. golden acorns.....pic is from NC....
  19. I am pretty sure that if its says US Property...aka US Govt....then possession of it is not a good thing
  20. this is one of my faves....love the daytime velvet pic....and being that I sent a carbon express with a 100gr slick trick through his vitals on the last day of bow season that yr making him my best archery buck to date.
  21. of course we need to abide by the law.....should the day come when they start collecting law abiding citizens guns....god help them....they are going to seize all the registered guns first, they know where and who to go to. So that leaves us in theory ...that the unlawful and criminals are going to be only ones with the guns....so what happens when the bad guys know that they are the only ones with guns??...the good will suffer. I have no desire to suffer
  22. if she's deadset against it you might not have one in the house, especially if you've got kids and that's one of her major reasons....unless you buy it and store it at a close friend or relatives?? ....maybe after a period of time she would be OK. You could attempt to explain how you could get a lockable gun case, use trigger locks, gunlock through the action, as three locks on one gun. Any gun you buy new is coming with a gun lock, a trigger lock is an inexpensive purchase and a quality lockable gun case would start @ $150 on the low end to $400+ If there was anyway you could get her interested in hunting then possibly....whatever the main reason she is against it, if you could somehow try to get around that...maybe she's misinformed?....too hard to say....I pretty much gave up trying to figure women out...just keep them happy....lol
