hey I melt in the rain Anyone know how rain effects deer movement. I really don't have a problem hunting in it but I never really see any deer during it either.

Well right now I'm in Brockport for college and I do have my uncles to hunt that is only a half hour away. I live in Weedsport NY. You probably never heard of it but its about a half hour west of Syracuse right off of the thruway exit 40. I also have a place to hunt there but won't be around much during deer season. I'm just lookin for another place to go within about an hour of either place. I've been to quite a few places like happy valley, three rivers, summerville, cicero swamp, howlland island, and i might have been to bear swamp. I'm just wondering if there is any more.

Yea I hope it is nice out. If it was a bit cold I wouldn't be to upset thought or if it rained a few days before. Might increase some deer movement. ;D

Anybody know some decent state land around Central NY Ive been to alot of them I think but Once you get past all the hunters and start getting deeper into the woods you just run into swamp. I have had different luck turkey hunting on state land. Called the same group of toms in on two separate hunts in the same place. All to have them run away when I pointed to my dad to say there right there LOL... I was pretty young though and very stupid. Ive done that a few other times to LOL...

Thats relieving I was a little scared that there might not be any deer around lol...

Yea I really hope you don't have to worry about them again and if you do I hope they get caught. Culvercreek, I just looked up the chart that is in the book I was reading and in morning and evening there was more deer seen after the racoon hunting. It seems like they have a pretty good experiment as there was a control and a treatment. Again it was done on a ranch of some sort with QDM im assuming in South Carolina.

Does anyone know what the effects of logging have on deer during and before the season. I'm guessing there is alot of information that may affect the outcome like how much logging, hunting pressure, stability of the heard and such. I'm looking for general reactions of deer though. I've heard that deer will come to a chain saw because they are curious? Any thoughts on this?

Culvercreek, I was reading a NAHC book and studies show that coon hunting does not affect the deer as much as you think it would. If a you or a dog trips a deer it will obviously scare it away. But your chances of taken a deer the next day were just as good as the day before. I believe this study was done on a game farm though, which might have played a role in the conclusion.

I don't see a problem with people wearing camo out in public if its something like a hat or shirt. I do see however where people get upset seeing others dressed in full camo even when a season is not even open. If someone wants to wear a shirt that is camo and it has a companies name on it I don't see a problem. They are just supporting that company and what they do. I sometimes where camo out in public (not fully clothed in it) because I don't care what people think about it. I'm a hunter and I'm proud of it. If I wasn't then I wouldn't hunt. People support there favorite sports teams with a shirt or hat. Why can't I or anybody else support something they love to do if its done respectfully.

Sits, As far as I know there has been a lot more then two reported sightings. I don't know much thats why I was wondering if other people were interested in the subject. I did some research online and there has been multiple farmers who have had crop damage. Also hogs multiply like wild fire. Again I don't know much about them, but this is what I feel I do know.

Hey everyone I know its getting close to deer season and thats where everyone's mind is along with mine. Just wondering if anyone would be interested if there was a forum for feral hogs on here. I know that they are getting to be a problem in certain parts of NY. I always have wanted to hunt them just never had the money to pay a game farm and would like to get more info about hunting them on some state land.

What gets me is when companies put a gaurantee on there product. Its basically impossible for something to work everytime. At least where I hunt. I just think to myself if I bought this I would be gauranted deer!!! :

Mineral blocks are basically the same as baiting in my mind. Your still trying to attract the deer to a certain area. Most people who would use it would probably hunt along a trail heading to it or right over it so its the same to me. Might have a little more benefit for deer then a pile of bait though. Maybe using mineral blocks should be legal during off season just for the purpose of the deer heard. Any opinion on that?
