The government right now is an embarrassment to the people. We look to reduce our spending and make these cuts, yet spend $380,000,000 on a website. Beyond sickening to find where they make spending cuts, taking away from those who currently and have already served in the military while not touching money given towards unemployment or Medicare let alone any other large money holes. What wasn't publicized that many of you might not be aware of, is the cuts they approved this month to veterans and currently enlisted servicemen. I got an email from the Army education office stating that our TA (tuition assistance for college classes) is changing. Our elected officials chose to reduce the amount of TA given to soldiers. It used to be 30 credit hours allowed per fiscal year, now it is 19. When signing on the dotted line and sacrificing so much, how do we get treated? That's right taking away benefits to further your education. With that said, I sadly have realized our governments prerogative, and know how little they value those who sacrifice their lives to fight the wars they start.

WE HAVE MOUNTAIN LION IN NEWBURGH AND PROOF
CuseHunter replied to cynthiafu's topic in General Chit Chat
This is a joke right? I hate to be one of the skeptic picture policemen here but this is obviously a fake story or old, so I hope it's just a joking post. There are green leaves all in the background. and the side of the road looks more like one from out west if I had to guess. -
I had a stray leaf on a beech tree that shined white in the light and every 5 minutes if turned around to look behind me I'd get excited. Then realize it's still that damn leaf.

no, local public land near me. I'll be out there this weekend I think though. That's if I get my ML to the range sometime to check the sights.
-
Tons of sign, scat, tracks and a fresh scrape where I was today. Didn't see anything but squirrels though.

I haven't been able to hunt for an entire week due to army on the weekend and finals for college started last week. Finally going to take a break from studying and hit the woods tomorrow morning, the bow will be in the hand. I bought a pack of the rage chisel tips at dicks on sale and am going to give em a try!

i always make it a habit after buying a firearm to completely field strip it and clean it.

I can respect and agree that a positive impression of responsible gun ownership is beneficial. Our difference in opinion come with the use of the the word "toy" when describing a new gun purchased. I don't think it giving the impression as to treat them like a toy, but simply a phrase used by many guys when they buy something new they use. I may be understating the importance of the use word choice, you may be overanalyzing it's use. That is going to be objective.

no offense was taken, simple conversation is what's happening. Not everyone on here has to get butt hurt over something said.

I've never used the lone wolf as they are out of my price range. Yet they look functionally great. I love the platform design. The lack of hollow piping on their platform is a huge plus to being silent. Quality on them is suburb too. Sumits are awesome too though and super comfy. I just hate packing in a climber no matter how you slice it. Having a 3x4 object strapped to by back is never an appeasing concept to me.

Shooting the biggest guns money can buy
CuseHunter replied to fasteddie's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
I'd say the coolest thing I've ever shot was the AT-4 launcher, grenades are pretty fun too. Guns are cool but nothing really gets me too excited even full auto LMGs, not much different from shooting anything else besides rate of fire. -
okay Cuomo... The term toy is loosely used and there is no need to be worked up over that. Handling such as a toy is a different story... But reference to a toy is just common vernacular when buying many things.

Yeah, a Parking area is not a good place to dispose of the carcass. Such disrespect to the animal and people around.

I have a dexter Russell 10" cimeter with the intentions to cut the steaks ECt, but find 9/10 I don't even touch it when processing a deer. I use my flexible and semi-flexible victorinox boning knifes and love them both. Razor sharp and hold an edge. The fibronix handles are real nice too

Welcome, keep at it and pull the pin

I just was at gander mtn. Looking to buy the Weatherby vanguard S2 in .300wsm. All I can say is their prices are crazy high, everything in that store is highly priced. Not one sale sticker in the whole place, and when it comes to competitors, there always seems to be "deals" add the pricing to the hour wait for it to be my "turn" in line (you picked a ticket like at the deli) looks like I'll be waiting to buy a new toy for me.

probably like my rem 870 with the pull that a sack of potatoes can't trip.

DIY cheap easy snow camo job
CuseHunter replied to josephmrtn's topic in DIY - Do It Yourself, tutorials and videos
A little sniper trick I learned that is something that easily can be removed and even camo pattern changed by adding natural foliage. What you need. 1 yard of burlap ~$3. 1-1.5 yard of elastic band lace ~$3 RIT fabric dye For snow camo, buy white burlap as you can't dye regular burlap white. Buy one packet of black Dye, dye some of the fabric black. Pull the strands of burlap apart (it's woven) Tie those strands to the elastic lace, tie a slip knot at both ends of the lace. Simply tighten the slipknot on the muzzle, wrap the rifle (avoiding optics and tigger/bolt function) use other slipknot to hold the other end of lace in place on the stock. It breaks up the outline of the rifle, and blends it in with color. Feel free to use natural foliage using the lace as a media of attachment. -
I really haven't heard them before. This was incase anyone has seen the popularly annoying song "what does a fox say"
-
Hey early... So what's does the fox say? You make me want to go fox hunting deliberately to grind your PETA rainbow lovin gears.

If I can get some more pellets in time and hit the range to double check the scope it will be ML. If not the trusty bow will be flinging arrows through the sky.
