Does your bow shoot differently when you are elevated in a tree say 15-25ft? I have had a bit of bad luck this year with a missed shot and can't figure if it's due to being 25 ft up in the tree or poor kisser placement due to my mask getting in the way. Shot my bow today and had to adjust the sight 4 inches at 20 yards to the left so I'm back on the bullseye.

I hunt because of the following: 1)relaxation and stress relief 2)fill the freezer with healthy organic meat 3) challenge myself to get one nice size buck

how do you cook the ribs? I've always been told they are nasty and don't even use em.

Well my problem has been that all off season, I could sling my field points out to 40 yards and keep a nice group. With my broadheads I have 0 confidence and I honestly have shot 0 times from an elevated position :X

Yeah I definitely wasn't 100% thinking about form and everything at the time. I will still be taking some time to practice though, I just am not confident anymore and need some tight groups in realistic hunting scenarios to get back my desire to hit the woods.

So today I decided I was going to shoot whatever came within 30 yards because I was sick of passing up deer and I wanted meat in the freezer. I was hoping for a doe, but got a 5 pointer to come in to 20 yards. Pulled back, then decided to not shoot, so I put my finger back behind the trigger of the release. Just then accidentally tapped the trigger (I have a spot Hogg wiseguy release) which has a seriously light trigger. Either way I wasn't even near on the deer so I obviously missed. Then I said screw it and nocked another one and held my 20 yard pin right center chest behind the shoulder. Let it fly. The arrow missed, and missed bad. Just hit hair, as I watched it walk around me for the next 20 minutes as if nothing happened. Earlier I had broadhead accuracy problems and thought I fixed it. Obviously not so it is time to take a week off and shoot shoot shoot. All from elevated angles. Back to the drawing board for me.

Your bow is pretty fast. They are just alluding to the fact that their bows do not drop much from 10-20 yards. I know mine is only like 2 inches so I only have a 20,30,40 yard pin. If it's at 10 yards I use the 20 yard pin and hold just a tad low, almost dead on.

You're off to a good start. Welcome to the forums

The actual body composition looks like a 2.5 YO, not much of a sagging belly or thick neck. The grey face and nice rack throw me to think it could be 3.5 but I still think it's a 2.5yo

Too funny. No blood and they are both standing after going at it till tired, typical middle school fight if you ask me.

My season hasn't been that great, I think I got myself too pumped up watching all these shows on tv of fields full of deer, where people "choose" what deer to shoot. Reality has sunken in and I understand if a deer was on trail cam a couple times, it may be a bit longer than I thought till I actually see it within range. Keep going out and you'll get lucky. It's just a waiting game.

Looks to me that they are fine.

When I was in Missouri for the Army the woods there were loaded with ticks. We were told that the best ways to prevent is to wear long socks, keep pants legs tucked in, sleeves tightly cuffed. Popular places I've found was the groin area, arm pit, and behind the ears. The sprays do wore from what I've read too. I know they gave us deep woods with high DEET in it and they said it helps against ticks too, not sure if it actually did though.

I like face paint but feel like it is clogging my pores eve thought I wash my face a couple times to get it off so I tend to lean towards a face mask. (Saying this in the most masculine way possible)

Hard to tell... Timing and placement if both deer I'd say it is 2 different bucks.

I'm looking forward to the next couple weeks of hunting. Got a feeling there will be lots of brown down. I'm mad I have to go to boston for the army next Friday for 4 days. Less time in the woods

Grunted a 5 pt in today. Thing was basically running to my stand and stayed around for 20 minutes

I used them only twice and never again... I had beyond horrible penetration. Who knows though, could have been my bow set up. They did always expand and were like a fricken battle axe hitting the deer

I was super impressed with these Carhartt gloves I tried out at the store. They were amazingly grippy and seemed to keep your hands warm and dry because of the rubber coated palm and fingers. Look them up, pretty darn cheap too... Carhartt C-grip glove or the Winter Thermal glove.

Looking for a sweet and spicy jerky recipe
CuseHunter replied to TeeBugg's topic in Game Recipes / Cooking
As he said. Brown sugar and maple syrup is used for sweetness. I forgot the maple syrup, I was thinking of it though. I use brown sugar, spices, BBQ sauce, and a tad of liquid smoke and like the results. -

many people add brown sugar to sweeten it up. -
I have the same ones from them. They seem to work well.
