was unaware of this. Well I'll pay the postage to send so it costs you $0.

appreciate the assuring comment. I definitely want to sit the stand location near there, I saw a scrape today, it was a small hoof though planted in it.
-
I could always use a 7m tag if anyone isn't expecting to fill theirs. I'd pay $5 for a courtesy thank-you so you can thank yourself with a cold beer. Could always use a 7m where my hunting camp is.

Saw a trail cam placed near a spot I have my climber. Curious to see what kinda pictures the guy is getting. I hope he doesn't take my stand, I left his camera. Not leaving it in after Friday when I go to hunt.

I'm fine when it comes to legally discharging a firearm with the 500 ft rule. Just didn't want to shoot a deer and have it run across the campus haha. But I am only bow hunting the area. The owner doesn't want any guns because of the houses

thanks for the input. I'll have to dig up some topos, the deer I found are primarily walking through the real thick areas where some apple trees are. Impossible to hunt in there but found a nice spot on the edge where I can climb up in a stand

Didn't see or hear anything today. Found a new prime spot in some oaks for a climber and will sit that this afternoon or tomorrow. Tons of sign over there. Hoping to see something tonight. Gotta love this weather though, finally some colder temps

Why do you care if these new hunters are using cams and such? I hunt however I feel like it. If I want to put a camera in the woods to give me some motivation to see that deer then I will. If what they are doing is legally and morally just then let them be. Remember, hunting in my generation of video game nerds and kids glued to Facebook and call of duty, is hard to come by a person who enjoys being outside and hunting.

well this is my first time looking at the property so I wanted to see what the place looks like. I have just the right idea where to go for food. There is a nice apple spot and tons of acorns 50 yards away. Oh yeah, and a stream in between. Sounds like a tri-fecta to me

going to a new spot I locked up. have tons of sign and a reported monster buck here. Have to hunt the ground though, so lets hope I don't get scented.

I got a nice spot to hunt next to my college. Over 100+ acres, all wedged between residential housing and college. Well the owner said there is a monster buck back there, said there is tons of deer. I didn't really think much of it till I walked back there today. Oh my lord, tons and tons of trails, all with multiple fresh tracks. Apples and acorns and streams are located. Only problem is that the middle of the land is a perfect spot to hunt, only problem is that there is no trees anywhere to put a stand. 90% of his land is new growth, all tall grass and saplings so thick. The area I could put a stand in is too close to the college, only 400-600 yards till the deer would be in the parking lot. How should I hunt this area? Any advice on these super dense non-mature woods?

I never used my strap until I keep reading these horror stories so I keep mine with a simple know to my seat which is a netted seat. I had my feet slip out of my footing holds and it caught the platform. Glad I keep it tied

Thought I should add, I bought the HSS rope system you use to throw around the tree and tie into, and I love the darn thing. Makes it so easy to loosen, slide down and up the tree when climbing. Glad you are okay!

that's on my to-buy list. I've been getting raped by the skeeters.

That's what I've noticed with the service. Seriously pissed after buying my bow there, then paying $130 for new cables and string. I got it back and it didn't shoot good groups. Brought it there so they could re adjust my kisser because the string stretched a bit since the install. Ended up needing a new d loop supposedly even though I JUST had the cables and string replaced. And then got 3 arrows cut. Came to almost $30 and I was like wtf.... And it still isn't tuned 100% I'd say. I think there is a slight clearance issue with the drop rest. Just a hunch I have. It's just feustrating because it's almost an hour drive there and I spend this money for "professional" techs and get mediocre service

Just an update for you guys. I took your advice and hooked it up at a steep angle. Panned out very well for me, finally in love with my climber again. Still not a big fan of back packing them in, I find myself with my hands full walking in with it to reduce any noise. Looks like I need a fanny pack added to my collection.

I don't mind paying a slight mark up for my gear to buy from local business, especially when there is knowledgable pro staff. But when it gets to the point of having to get nickel and dimed, really looking to switch to AJ's archery. Seems like a good place.

I just read this in a long archery tuning article and will be doing it. It my broad heads don't fly right after that I'm done and will go to a mechanical head. Either way I'm going to my archery shop (legends of the fall) this weekend because I just paid them $29 to install a d loop and cut 3 arrows After buying the bow from and and paying for new cables and strings I think they should be able to help me without making me she'll out more money.
-
After my adjustment to tune, I did shoot my field points and they both were spot on. I did snug my rest back tight. And it hasn't moved since because I have the qad HD which has the markings. I've been working on my form and think its good now. But don't know how I can go from perfect groups then go to a fixed broadhead and be 8 inches off.
-
So I had my bow professionally tuned, it shoots amazing. I have a nice 3 inch groups at 30 yards with field points. Got a pack of slick trick mags and loved them. The group at first was like 4 inches to the left. So I adjusted my rest to the right and they were on from that point foreword. Shot a great group at 30 yards with them. So good that I put the three arrows so close that the broadhead went in the same hole and hit the other head and cut off the fletching. So after taking the bow out hunting open week 4 times, I figured I should double check at my house to make sure everything is still on. Shot at my target and was so off to the left it missed and went into my fence. Figuring maybe somehow I just pulled a shot or something, aimed to the right of center 3 inches and just made it into the archery block dead on elevation, off to the left 6 inches. Thinking I bumped my sights or something I shot my field tips and they flew right into bullseye. So it is definitely a broad head issue. Anyone know what's wrong? About to give up using fixed blade and go to a rage. But really wanted to try out these slick tricks

Officially going to pick up a thermacell. I'm so sick of these damn Mosquitos.

I don't usually use my phone unless I need to send a text to a hunting buddy. If I do, I always adjust my brightness for the LCD screen on my iPhone.

Appreciate all the help fellas. I'll go to a park somewhere near and practice climbing. Next year I think I'll invest in a better brand climber like a summit. Nothing is worse than not enjoying a hunt because my climber is not set up right or I couldn't even get it set up. I'm in the woods to enjoy the peace and when I'm feeling like I can fall out at any moment, I would have been better off staying on the ground or in my bed.
-
Sounds like a legit story. If it's true that would really suck, and I would be beyond pissed after something like that. Only thing that I can take to the woods from the story is enforcing the principle that we all were taught and that is to be sure of what's in your sights and what is beyond.

I figured I should have tried it out before going to the woods with it. It's just hard living in the burbs with no trees around. To just climb up. I think I'm going to have to do some DIY improvements to dampen the sound and get a fanny pack instead of this bulky backpack I have to front load with the climber on my back
