  1. Just dropped my daughter at noni's and the boy off at school... Gonna hang up one of my summit hawks already have the bracket and sticks set gonna try the mid day peak what's to lose?
  2. Back at in the quick access ladder, warm and quiet aside from the red squirrels losing their sh!t:
  3. All my stands have bench seats no rail that's how I like it. Easy to pivot and shoot seated from 7-3 on the clock dial. My butt falls asleep in slings. All these stands are effective when set well with cover. Bow harvested from each type and the ground. Ladders - Easy super quick access, moderately adaptable to different tree types, typically a little low tho. Summit Raptor Hang-on w/sticks - most stealth, most adaptable, if you can leave the sticks on these are the best, worst case you carry 2 sticks still beats a climber imo. These raptors hang on a bracket I have 3 stands and 9 brackets...pretty mobile 11lbs a piece. Lone Wolf Hand Climber: Nice and quiet packs easy fur a climber. Climbs easy. Very limited tree selection. In order to gain irregular tree cover with a climber on a regular tree I typically try to find a hardwood running right up a pine or a hardwood loaded with vines. Also any climbing is a bit of a commotion on a silent day.
  4. There's barely enough room to start making children in those little truckettes...let alone hauling around fully formed ones and all their crap.
  5. Family = Fullsize if it's gonna get that kind of use. I've got 2 kids still in seats and 2 large dogs. 8 cylinders if you are loading it down and towing with it. I got a 2016 Ram 1500 5.7 Hemi quad cab, decent fuel economy and a very smooth ride with power to spare.
  6. Venison Tyrolean Goulash over Dumplings: Glad I harvested the first deer I saw 7:10 10/1 haven't a seen another since.
  7. Got some tyrollean goulash going in the crock with some neck and shoulder cubes...still kicking around the idea of heading out in a bit:
  8. I may head out for a late sit but my motivation is boredom caused by the vacuumous emptiness of not hunting during bow season.
  9. I never thought of it this way and it makes sense especially if in a ground blind.
  10. Go over 500 grains with your arrows and 15% FOC. I did because of lack of penetration and went to fixed 2 blade heads and passed through the thick part of the shoulder bone on the way thru on a harvest this past Sunday. Both arrow and head were completely undamaged and the deer did not bolt but died immediately. I think any mechanical head wastes momentum on impact, so either have plenty to spare or switch. +1 on a well tuned bow...I'd add some actual broadhead practice also tends to help rather than relying on "Flies Like FP's"
  11. This is my exact experience.
  12. Here's to hoping but I've hunted 65-70* Nov 3rds a few of the past 5 years.
  13. In the stand from 12:40-6:40. Zero seen Unless I get up at 4:30am w/o an alarm (early enough to make it to my lease and in stand by 6:30) I will be holding off on sauna hunting this weekend.
  14. I'm 3 hrs into this sit none seen. 60 here off and on breeze pretty nice...bugs are on the wing but not bothersome. Just got a text kids are staying w/Noni and Opa tonight. One way or another I'll get lucky this PM.
  15. A reasonable substitute in a pinch I say but I'm not the authority on this matter.
  16. Heading out to a quick ladder for the midday solunar peak full moon underfoot:
