  1. What do you guys use? I have a nice fleece jumpsuit as a heavy layer but I need alight weight layer for underneath when its real cold and for use by its self during fall and spring hunts.
  2. I'm looking to pick up a .243 (hopefully used) and then I will take you up on this. I'd love to get a coyote pelt. I enjoy hunting but did not grow up doing it. Got my first deer a few years ago and am trying to do as much different hunting as I can.
  3. Lets see...she's a self avowed outdoorswoman, fought for preservation of state parks, fought against Gov. Paterson, and is endorsed by both New York State Rifle and Pistol Association and the local VFW. But you won't vote for her because she once had a (D) by her name? I thought it was about the candidate and not the party?
  4. I'm really interested in doing some coyote hunting. I know absolutely nothing about where to look for them, how to bring them in etc. How did you guys get started coyote hunting?
  5. So it has been officially established that I can legally purchase a rifle in NY form a dealer or private seller. Now who wants to sell me one?
  6. Spoke to a dealer today. I can buy a rifle as long as I present my Virginia Driver's License, Military ID, copy of my official orders. So that settles it. I can legally purchase a rifle in the state of NY.
  7. I'm not sure I follow. As a military member stationed in NYS for many things I am treated as a legal resident of the state. I can get an New York DL if I wanted and I pay resident price for hunting licenses. For military members from another state permanently stationed in VA one simply needs a copy of orders and a proof of address to be sold a firearm by dealer and not even that for private sales.
  8. The issue for me is in addition to the money I just don't want to deal with the ridiculous regulations one must follow when buying a rifle in NY and NJ. I'm a Virginia resident and live on a military base so I don't need a NYC rifle permit and do not want to get a Firearm Purchaser ID Card or whatever.
  9. A basic .22 runs around $150 new. I guess $75ish for a well used rifle (without scope) would be fair but I'm open to suggestion.
  10. Did you get anything? Coyote hunting really piques my interest.
  11. I am looking to buy a used squirrel gun. Trying to branch out both in terms of hunting and firearm ownership. Thanks.
  12. That's what I thought. I've never shot a bow and do not own a muzzleloader. I'm no trophy hunter. When I go out my primary goal is to put venison in the freezer. If I had to watch a shootable doe walk by knowing that maybe the only shootable deer I see all season it'd kill me.
  13. Hey guys, I'm a very new hunter. I shot my first deer two years ago in Virginia. I'm relatively lucky as far as hunting goes as I have access to about 700 acres of land in VA that an old family friend allows no one to hunt on but family and I have access to some private property in 3H here in NY. I have read the NY regs and as I understand it during gun season you may not shoot a doe. Is this correct? Sorry if this is a dumb question but I'm used to VA where you can shoot as many as 6 does in a season and MUST shoot at least 3 does if you want to use all your tags.
