My experience with hunting with a bow or a gun, is aim for the shoulder and if there no shot, don't take it. Deer can run forever with gut shots. I believe in fatal shots that take a deer down within a close range of shot. I also believe in taking some practice shots with the bow before going into the woods. Takes the edge off and if you are hunting without a rangefinder it allows remembering where the yardage could be in the woods in relevance to where the target was.

Hi everyone... Originally from Northern NY, relocated to Nassau County with a camp on Black Lake near Hammond, NY. I'm a deer hunter, ice fisherman and summertime griller with either venison or fish grilling with the best rubs and jerk to make meat come alive. I process my own deer, making steaks for jerking to sausages of all kind. Ever in the neighborhood, come on in and have a beer, check out my 10 point scoring 141 7/8 in 2003.
