I had him scored by a professional. That's what his measurements are. I had to have him scored so he can go in the books. The pro came up with them numbers.

Ok guys and gals. After taking an animal with an arrow do u retire the arrow or wash and use it again? Being that it is still shoot able of course. Just wondering what everybody else does. I think the one I killed my big buck with this yr is going to go back in quiver for good luck next year. Hopefully!!

Well guys it's finally been over 60 days. Had buck scored professionally today. It grossed a 143 and nets 126. Just figured I'd give an update.

ammo costs to much to waste like that I think.

I'd just like to shoot a nice Iowa or Illinois buck! Might give it a shot in the next couple yrs

I had a 173 I shot and it ran on neighbors property. They never fired a shot and they kept the deer. That was 6 yrs ago! I agree with u. I still have nightmares!!

Two times in 20 yrs I've been scared. One was when I grabbed a rail of an old wooden tree stand to get in and it broke. I caught the foot peg right in the gut. It tore me all the way to my shoulder. I was laying on the ground thinking I'd just been gutted, thank god I was wearing 3 layers. I had major cut and bruising but I can still tell the story. The other was I shot a buck just at the end of legal shooting light. Get down to walk to camp hit the trail 1/2 way to camp and a blk bear was standing there. This was with a bow.so I just walked by. But tracking that buck later was pretty scary!

Crossbow full inclusion during archery? So u can kill more 3" bucks! Lol!! And nobody said u can't hunt rabbit or squirrel the first 2 wks.

I shot my big buck this year on the 17th at 4:08 pm

It's a small piece. All small pieces around me. 20 acre parcels. I hunt a few different parcels. But during bow season there are deer. After gun season starts we get a few days then it's all over. And I try not to over hunt it move from property to property but activity still gets slow once the shooting starts. How many acres are u hunting that u guys see then all season? Cause I sure would enjoy gun season a lot more if I seen deer

I also hunt private property and after opening wk movement shuts down. And public land the same. Only thing going for the public land is people move them a bit.

Yep I too would get the 22 out. 2 less coyotes would be killing all the fawn,turkey, pheasant, and so on.

It's called gun season! Once they know that people are in the woods they go into hiding and move at night. It's just not on public land. Take up archery! U will see lots of deer moving on there own doing what they do. Good luck

If crossbow gets full inclusion and they don't change some rules we will never grow any bucks over a 1.5 year old. It will be a slaughterfest. I agree I do t have much faith in our dec either

Thanks man. I wasn't expecting u to answer. But thank u. I have no snow either. U think they are dropping this early? I hear mixed reviews. Some guys say the big ones drop early. It just something to do to make winter go by. Plus anything found is a bonus!

I also would like to put in a few new Apple and pear trees. I'd also like to expand my food plots. I'd like to plant corn in one plot this yr. also I'd like to build a elevated shooting box for them nasty days. I'm very interested in ur woods plot. What r u planning on planting? I'd like to plant a woods plot also but what would really grow?
