  1. Look for wild cherry trees as the beech nut crop this year will most likely be non existent (as it was a super heavy beech nut year this past season and normally its an every other year deal with them).  Bears love cherries and will gorge themselves on them in the early season.

This was a made in Japan scope so glass and optics are flawless. Scope has light ring marks and one small ding as seen in pics, but nothing to affect function.Scope tracks perfect.

  4. there is so much information available to beginner trappers nowadays.. Lots of books, videos and websites like www.trapperman.com and http://nytrappers.proboards.com really can shorten the learning curve.. lots of youtube videos as well.. Joining the NY State Trappers Association and attending their Annual Convention on Labor Day weekend in Herkimer is well worth it..  Start with simple basic sets like pocket sets in water and dirtholes on land.. If you use conibear boxes, be sure to adhere to the dimensions as shown in the regulations. Best of luck to you!

  5. i currently have ten preference point for wyoming bighorn as well as shiras moose.. going to wait another five or so years to put in for a tag.. definitely a bucket list thing, as I have seen some beautiful rams while out west in the past

Picked up this pre-WWII model 70 Winchester a couple weeks ago and have decided it wasn't what i was looking for.. serial # is 7xxx so makes manufacture date in the late 30's. over the course of its life, it appears to have been rebarreled, restocked, receiver has been drilled and tapped (redfield base and medium rings included) and safety modified.. please see below post in winchester forum as to what the experts say about it.

Action and trigger are silky smooth.. Stock is solid and fits well..Bore is clean and bright.. some bluing loss near front of the barrel shows signs of this gun being hunted.. Asking price is $600 shipped to your FFLfor rifle, rings, and bases (no scope)OR trade for a Marlin 45-70 lever gun or Remington Model 7 (plus or minus cash of course). PM me any questions you may have
