Guess it comes down to different strokes for different folks.. I will have to experiment some..

Reading through the latest issue of Whitetail magazine, an article says to adjust your wrist release so the second knuckle joint is on the trigger. The pictures were a bit confusing, but I think the author meant second down from the tip of the finger, i.e. second crease when finger is bent. I have had mine set on the first joint (from the tip). Is this something that makes a meaningful difference?

When I took the class near Watertown in 2015, they had us shoot at a target, at pretty close range. They had some low poundage 'practice bows' (e.g. high school PE class type) for anyone who didn't bring their own. Several people missed the target completely, but no one failed the class.

That worked for me, thanks. Just keep clicking on the same Annual Hunting picture, new things appear after you click 'Big Game License' the first time..

My daughter and I got 7R tags also, because its close by and it's a safe bet for our second choice in the permit selection process. But its far from a slam dunk because the state lands get hunted pretty hard, and most of the deer are near the residential areas in and around Ithaca. What the state is doing about that could be a whole 'nother thread..

I think that means you got doe tags, but you'll know for sure when you get the envelope in the mail.

Looked to get license and tags online today, system asked for credit card info before allowing me to choose bow/muzz and DMP choices.. Anyone who's completed a purchase, when do they ask for the optional add-ons? Is that done at checkout? You would think you add them to cart first, then checkout..

"Your fired!" Averaging one a week just like the Apprentice?

Have a neighbor who used to put a radio in her garden playing country music 24x7. No fencing. She always got a nice harvest. Until a few years ago, then the deer wised up or something and it stopped working for her. Has anyone tried those motion activated witch dolls they sell around Halloween time that let off a cackle or scream when you get close?

I picked up an IQ Micro bowsight on Amazon the other day for a good price. This is the one with Retina Lock which helps you stay in proper form. I've been sighting it in and have noticed an improvement in my accuracy. First robin hood this morning even (at 20 yds). I 'm wondering though if the improved accuracy is from mounting the sight further out from the bow than the old sight, vs. the Retina Lock. Guess I won't know because I'm not going to shoot enough to separate the two effects. Next I'm going to put a smaller peep on it, have a large one now and the sight ring is swimming around inside it..

Sounds like opinion on this one is unanimous. Thanks!

I bought a couple of used ladder stands this week (my first). One has a permanently attached seat of fabric-covered-foam attached to a wooden board. I'm am thinking that after being left out during the season, it would be like sitting on a wet sponge. Should I remove the foam and fabric and just take a foam seat cushion with me when sitting? Or am I missing something?

Speaking Of Lost, What's The Worst Thing You've Lost?
OldNewbie replied to Lawdwaz's topic in General Chit Chat
I was separated from my son and my daughter at different times in different stores.. Nothing worse than that feeling. The store was getting ready to lock the doors and call a Code Adam on my daughter when our old babysitter brought her over, she found her playing inside a circular clothes rack. Sporting equipment.. lost the tip of a fly rod once. After a long afternoon on the Delaware River, packing up to leave and I can't find the tip section of my 4-piece rod. WTF? It was there when I finished fishing.. Backtracked to my fishing spot, walking and wading, using flashlight cuz it was pretty dark. Nothing. Resigned to losing it. Standing by the car, my buddy says "what's that?", pointing. There's my rod tip, hanging from a tree branch near the car. It had gotten hung up and came off while I was standing there and I didn't notice. -

Another Trump supporter (wait, make it two) resorting to name calling rather than engaging in any meaningful discussion. Ho hum.. At least Rattler provided a link to a list of supposed unconstitutional things Obama did. I got as far as #6 before the 'subscription required' popped up. #1-5 don't count because there was no court finding. I've give you #6 since the court ruled against the gov't. -

You still haven't cited a single law, regulation, or executive order passed by President Obama that was struck down by the courts as unconstitutional. Until you do, your statement that "Obama wiped his azz on the Constitution for 8 years" is a total crock of bull hockey. It's so wrong, it's laughable. Like the list above. Next your going to tell me Obama caused the crash of 2008 and got us into the war in Iraq (both happened under Bush, before Obama took office.) -

If you think the Constitution was written for Democrats only, and shouldn't apply to the current adminstration, then you are anti-American and what you are saying amounts to treason. -

OK Rattler, educate me then. What statutes, executive orders, or regulations enacted under the Obama administration have been overturned by the courts as unconstitutional? There must be a long list based on your comment. -
So the joke is Pence never gets any?
-
Well coloring books sometimes have a few simple words, so that would be an improvement. But if you want to try using your words to tell me yourself the difference between a legal and illegal immigrant, I'm listening.
-
The color of the balls indicating that POTUS never gets any?
-
So explain it to me. In words, not pictures.
-
No this is wrong. Trump's order is stopping LEGAL immigrants from entering the country. People who contribute to our economy, or who have aided our military in war in Iraq.

Drain The Swamp Dems not voting
OldNewbie replied to Huntscreek's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
"When Donald Trump said he wanted to drain the swamp, he didn’t mean he wanted to clean up American institutions so they would work better, what he meant was that those institutions shouldn’t actually exist. This explains why every person picked for his cabinet is opposed to the mission of the agency that person is supposed to lead." Some of you may be too young to remember what it was like before Congress passed the Clean Water Act and the EPA started cleaning things up. I routinely saw raw sewage (turds and toilet paper) floating by while I was fishing the local creek in my town. There were no bald eagles in the lower 48 because of DDT. This is where we are headed again with Pruitt and Trump shutting down the EPA. -

Would anyone seriously disagree that Kellyanne Conway is anything but a paid liar? Her job is to go on TV and make shit up to cover for/explain the anti-democratic actions that the Trump/Bannon dictatorship is taking. Same for Sean Spicer. Like Pinocchio (Trump), they lie every time they open their mouths. They just happen to believe their crusade is so righteous that any means to acheive their ends is justified, Constitution and the rule of law be damned.
