  1. Seems cameras are all the rage. I believe it can hurt you if done unproperly as it seems most do. Long range locating w binos is safer and cameras only tell you what's in their sight. Limits your odds imo
  2. TV dogs are terrible. Not one I've seen is broke. Second you shoot they're charging all over, some arent even completely steady pointing. Terrible,
  3. If you have limited knowledge a trip to pro shop is in order. Spine changes as guys have informed you by length, also by how radical cam is or isn't, obviously the weight. I'm thinking you don't know for sure weight? Did you personally weigh bow? Has the bow been checked for safety, as in missing eclips, worn strings or cables, cracked parts? If not take a ride
  4. Glad I live in the woods. God bless ya for trying
  5. If the gun is good no need to sell. I know of at least one fellow that's had no problems w his Kimber rifle but the heads up needs to be out there cause they aren't cheaply priced
  6. Zag is correct glass from the road or anywhere far. Going into the woods is not the best idea imo
  7. Kimber rifles imo aren't good. I had one that at less than one box started light primer hits, light enough wouldn't go off. Customer service was so bad after 3 aggravating tries by them to fix the gun I sold it. My buddy just recently bought one that won't go on "safe". Kimber told him to just shoot it n maybe it'll get better. Amazing. A gun to look at if you have the money is a Sako, have less get a Tikka. I believe no matter where you hunt a round needs snot. Id get it in .300 win mag but any middle sized caliper is more than adequate. The heavy bullet deflecting brush theory is not correct. Put a target out at 100 yards w brush between you n see if you can shoot tight groups?
  8. Depends where you are, where I hunt they hide in it more than eat it. Bears love it though. Some places w less pressure they may cross over, long range scout it n set up where they're crossing. First few days they cut that you're in though. Deer will be all over it. If there's bean around they're gonna hit that harder just a fyi
  9. Don't use em for deer hunting but the filson is tough. Can't seem to wear it out but youd have to pack real light, not a lot of extra room
  10. Aim small miss small Larry never just put a pin on an animal. Accuracy matters
  11. Big game fish is correct if you can't the bow you can see w stykbows clearly. Prob w covering target no matter how small pins are is we teach aim small miss small. Pick a "spot", be it a sunlight dapple on a hide, hair out of place, muscle ripple, etc. Even a small pum will sit on the "spot" n make things harder imo
  12. Oh my God. Don't wanna shoot lead don't, leave everyone else alone. Interesting note, a gun shop by me did a test. I had nothing to do w it n it is limited but they fed 2 ducks putting tiny bits of lead shot in the food n they lived over 8 years from test start. How many guys have had split shot in their mouths since kids fishing. There's lead powder on that. Let's worry bout ISIS instead of our destroying the earth. If you were sharing info at a gun show you were prob selling something as well. Wonder if the motives are sincere? Maybe you can get us all some lead free bullets free of charge to try a few years?
  13. You can use any size pin as you're sighting just over the tip of 12 o clock. You're arrow would basically sit right atop your pin
  14. Another interesting trick since follow through was mentioned n this may help new shooters or particularly parents teaching kids. Children tend to think differently, the way I teach classes is as the bow jumps at the shot the last thing done is put the bow back on target. Kind of forces follow through n it's easy to do
  15. How many guys sight this way and why wouldn't you? If someone doesn't understand it's basically using the 12 o clock position of the pin n your arrow hits just above that point in order not to cover what you're shooting at. Imo it's a better method. its like using iron sights on a firearm.
  16. Did it not pass? I haven't seen anything either way
  17. Bighorn was owned by Fred Asbell, last I knew he was somehow affiliated w Black Widow. The Bighorn is prob one of the nicer bows I've shot. It's old, but I still use it. My widow is only from 04 n shoots much harder but isn't quite as easy on my shoulders. Another bow I really liked was Schafers silvertips. Had one I never should have sold. Another on order, was gonna be done up real nice. Got divorced told him to hold the bow production just a bit n than he got killed skiing. His bows were right in the middle to me. You're stil alive, you got one more in ya! One cool thing bout my widow is instead of my and on the bow it has my daughters. Bow means a lot, first month I owned it my older daughter who was 4 at the time would come home every day, run into my shop n ask me if I shot a deer w her bow. First day I used it when I was almost to stand a group of does came by. I shot one. My daughter asked where the horns were! A few days later I was fleshing bears when I realized I could do a quick 45 min hunt if I husted. I grabbed the bow, bear grease n all on me. (Yes not best technique). I climbed tree, it was I think 4:23 or something. Looked up a small 6 point was going by. I shot the deer, watched em run into a power line n drop. Clock showed same time. Total time w the bow was minutes n 2 deer in freezer. Plenty of luck but I'll take it.
  18. If you think that Widow is smooth, I find my Bighorn much smoother though slower. Ever shoot one?
  19. Safe, ethical shots, within a hunters effective range for that weapon are key. We owe the game that as well as other hunters. The shot w the highest odds of sucess is the ones we should take.
  20. With all due respect to your experience n God bless if it works for you, certainly deer head shot would die instant if you brained em. I'm an accuracy freak but personally would call a head shot an irresponsible shot n certainly something way irresponsible to post. Guess off just a couple inches ain't much, if so you could shoot one in the mouth, poor thing couldn't eat n would starve to death. Maybe graze his skull n knock him permanently silly. List goes on n on. Every Hunter must be certain of his shots n ability n it seems you are but scopes break, ammunition may have been improperly loaded. A sudden noise could get deer to move just a pinch as the trigger broke. Way to many bad scenarios. Thank God Bowhunters are smarter than that
  21. Ain't nothing slow about it. Yes some guys may wound deer, it's no less perhaps than the gun or maybe it is. This is why shots only in the weapons effective range should be attempted w any weapon, if you've never taken one w bow you have no personal experience to draw from
  22. Well if that's true the hate has to come from somewhere. Most likely jealousy.
  23. This is true. It hasn't happened in a bit but when I was a kid it happened a bunch. Not sure if it was bow, broadheads or what. Id shoot a deer Itd look around or hop to me, go back to feeding n fall over. I def don't think it's cruel
  24. No rifle in Nj. Slugs or muzzleloader n only Sat
