Sitting on the sidelines is a mistake, as much as being a soldier that refuses to fight. Many soldiers don't agree with the position the military takes either, but if you're not in the fight, what good are you?

Why Tesla’s Model 3 Could Be the New Model T

Hunters, being a small minority of the general population, have a very hard time controlling the debate regarding public opinion. The trophy hunter moniker is being forced on us by the opposition. The best way to fight the assault is to join pro hunting organizations that do a very good job of challenging the propaganda from the opposition and are able to get the truth out into the public domain as much as possible. Let's face it, we need organized opposition to combat the anti-hunting opposition which is highly organized.

Make America Mexico Again
Rattler replied to fasteddie's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Because that would be the equivalent of making a mother a virgin again. The land itself that sustained them is so changed, it's actually gone. Somethings just cannot be undone once they are done. -
Nice! Congratulations.

Sadly, no. I was hunting alone and the old flip phone I have doesn't take good pics. I'll take pics of the next one, if I remember to bring my digital camera.

Sitting around yesterday complaining about the rain, a friend advised me to come over to his place to shoot a bird. Got there before dawn (and before the rain) and could hear about 6 different gobblers in the area, on both sides of the road that divides his property. He told me to set up in a row of trees where he had some farm equipment stored. I set up facing the north field, but two Toms and some hens flew into the big south field behind me. They were cavorting, with the two Toms in full strut out there, for about 1/2 hour, ignoring the couple of calls I made. When they were all behind a rise in the field, I turned to face them with my back against a big tree. One of the hens came my way and passed 50 yards to my left. One of the Toms soon followed and looked right at me as he moved to my left about 50 yards out too. The second Tom's head and neck crested the rise in the field at 40 yards and was looking at me as I lined the shotgun up on him. I pulled the trigger and he dropped. He weighs 19 pounds, has a 7 inch beard and 3/4" spurs. Not my biggest bird, but a nice one. There are bigger birds there and I'll be holding out for the biggest one as I go for a second one soon. I tagged the bird and got in my truck to leave just as it started to rain. It was 7:30 AM. A short, but memorable turkey hunt.

Google, carmakers join forces to speed self-driving car adoption
Rattler replied to EspressoBuzz's topic in General Chit Chat
I just had a thought. How many of you guys would buy a rifle that shoots by itself? If it did everything for you when hunting after you put it to your shoulder, like align the cross hairs for the perfect shot at any range and even knew if there was a twig in the way, while it set off the round at the perfect time to make a perfect heart shot, would you want it? Would you feel completely confident that it's reliability was absolutely certain when the shot at the trophy buck of a lifetime presented itself? Would you trust it after it had an accident and got banged pretty bad? Would you count on it with total faith? Not me. -

What irony? I use what I can. But if the entire internet went down forever, which it may someday, I'll still be able to drive my old truck to the bar. To me, the internet and computers are a needless luxury. But they're free to me, so who cares. I won't miss them at all if they go away. -

Really? Pretty easy to find if you know how to use Google. Thank you Grouse. -
More like the kid is exposing things he's heard from his circle of leftists and their plans to implement it. Does anyone believe gun grabbers haven't thought of this already? They work 24/7 coming up with ways to destroy all gun ownership. Their big problem is the 2nd Amendment and it's enumeration of gun ownership as a right. Does that mean that right can't be taken away? Heck no. It just means the attackers have to be creative and get a majority of the public to support their cause. Don't worry about the messenger. Hear the message. Blowing it off because the messenger doesn't concern you wouldn't be very wise.

If Clinton becomes President, all semi-auto firearms will be banned, just like was done in England and Australia. That will happen as soon as she packs the Supreme Court with activist anti-gun judges who hate the 2nd Amendment. Then they will begin an attack on handguns, pump action long guns and lever guns. They will follow the lead of the two countries cited above. Don't think so? You're part of the reason they will do it.

Simplicity, self reliance, dependability, ease of repair, low cost, proven track record, durability...... All things new technology, especially computer driven cars, are lacking. I prefer reliable simplicity to complicated technology. I work on my own vehicles, up to the point of the technology that prevents it. That gives me a sense of comfort. I would have even more comfort with a vehicle that has very little, or no technology that can't be easily fixed or depended on. I've also heard that computers in cars can be hacked and taken over. I'm not cool with that. Any of you guys know what an EMP is? If, for whatever reason, an EMP effects this land, your newer cars filled with technology, will be useless and beyond repairable. My old pickup will be fine. And if you think that's not something to worry about, call the state department of homeland defense and ask them if it's a real threat. BTW, the same goes for your gun safe if it has an electronic lock. Mine does not. Believe what you like, but I think it's better to have some foresight, just in case. I'm not losing anything and possibly gaining a lot, without it costing me anything. -

I would like to buy a basic pickup with a straight six engine, standard shift, 4WD that I need to lock the hubs, no carpet inside, no A/C or P/W & P/L's or any other powered stuff. A real work truck that has nothing not needed to get the job done. And priced accordingly. Today, trucks are made for luxury. I want one my muddy boots and overalls won't offend! one that won't make my wallet groan paying for extras I don't want. Seems the only way I can get one is by buying an old one in decent shape and restoring it to like new condition. Believe it or not, it still saves me about $10K over the cost of a new one. -
The trouble is, this thinking is out there, this guy just put it in writing and the HuffPo is giving it some exposure. We best start giving it some attention. It may sound utterly ridiculous but I'll bet this will be another legal front gun owners will be assaulted on eventually. Remember, the Constitution is already invalid according to the activist judges on the left.

Holding those responsible
Rattler replied to Uptown Redneck's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
It is accomplished over time. A few brave men stand up to the oppression and shine a light on it for everyone to see. They may lose a few battles, but they gain public support. Eventually, the truth begins to become obvious to the majority and that is when the oppressive regime starts to worry. Once enough of the population turns on tyranny, there is no way it can win, no matter what they do. It takes a few brave men who speak truth to power to get the ball rolling. People who sit back and tell brave men how futile their patriotism is, are the most worthless form of citizen any country could have. -
The Tubman $20

Those same folks will look at Tubman and see Aunt Jemima! LOL! -
The Toyota holds it's value better than any other truck sold in America. Depreciation is something that should not be overlooked when buying any new vehicle. Besides, only a quality vehicle will earn low depreciation and high resale value.

My opinion on both deaths is the same. So?

Want to avoid all appearances of discrimination? Get ALL the human faces off the money. Use the Bald Eagle, Niagara Falls, Mt. Hood, a Blue Marlin, the Grand Tetons or any other specimen of nature in our land. That would shut the mouth's of all of the PC cry babies. -

If people don't care who's on the money, why are they making such a big deal about needing to change it? What's next? Oprah on the $10 bill? -
Holding those responsible
Rattler replied to Uptown Redneck's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
That's exactly the position the American Tories took when the colonies decided to take up arms against the most powerful military in the world at the time. Yes, the patriots knew they could be killed. They also believed freedom was worth the fight. It is better to die standing up than live on your knees. Many government regimes that have oppressed their own people have been beaten, simply because the oppressed people have been willing to die fighting them. The only reason any American government entity attacks it's citizen's 2nd Amendment rights is to destroy their ability to resist oppression. It's been proven every time any gun control regulation has been passed, including the SAFE Act you referred to, because none of these laws have ever done anything to stop any crimes. They are only used against responsible gun owners. Any government that does that has evil plans. Feel free to continue believing that's not the case. -

And as far as your feelings about what people "need", it's a bill of rights, not a bill of needs. I'll decide what I need and if I have the right to have it, I'll get it. Nobody's paranoid, delusional, childish fears, trump my rights.
