Kershaw usa knives , excellent service
slickrockpack replied to slickrockpack's topic in General Chit Chat
not holding an edge very well, easy to sharpen being so soft but really just a gentleman's ./ladies knife for office work or opening mail, etc DOe/Fawn tags came out the other day here, we are limited to 20 tags per each unit, unlimited overall, my buddy picked up 180 tags, I told him I'd quarter deer until this knife gets dull and then this old sick bastard is DONE. LOL might be the best knife I ever got! -
build or buy 62 cal flintlock fowler, the original swiss army knife of guns. bears and moose to woodcock and snipe. roundball to shot.

from a friend of a friend in Kentucky where she is a forester, they use duct tape to get ticks off their clothes every 10 minutes.

Me too. (the shirts) The only thing I do not like about this knife so far, and it is a minor issue, is the spring is so strong you really have to give it a solid grip when opening it or it will fly right out of your hand. Part of that is it is a little knife, two and a half finger, and hard for me to hang onto when opening to begin with. I'm going to go see what the local dealers have in the way of other Launch series knives, this is a pretty nice edc. so far. -
nope, not hard at all, use in place of any beef or pork recipe. cook as well done as you cook your pork.

My wife sent me this and I figured I would share.

they are called Tailor Moths. they are tiny little moths that get into clothes and remove the stitching, then eat a size or two of cloth, then they restitch the seams . I've been battling them for decades. -

they aren't knives that blow my hair back , they just aren't my style, but they impressed me with their service and drive. so far for opening boxes and packages it's a great knife. I can see why my wife has liked it. I clip it in the chest pocket of my shirt right next to my reading glasses -

I thought I would let my friends on here know that Kershaw knives came through in spades for my wife recently. She snapped the tip off of one of her knives, a little every day carry Kershaw she had, I don't think a lot of Kershaw products but instead of reshaping the tip I had her send it back to the factory. they responded they could replace the blade, she said go ahead today 2 brand new replacements showed up. charged for shipping only. A1 Kershaw

its fine. she'll be fine, don't mess with her. we raise a lot of deer, that one is fine on her own, but she's still nursing or she'd be in worse shape. mom is around, you may hear her call to the fawn if you listen.

on a different subject, is pot legal in ny now?
-
too many deer too

on my way to find a tree....Out Of My Way People! it was a filtered light but hardly dark, like a good forest fire, we were in the 98% zone, I was not overly impressed, and I wasn't the last time I saw one either. ...like handing me a good cigar, ....don't...it's wasted on me.

I hope everyone is ok, it was terrifying here. the darkness came at us like a falling wall, the temperature dropped sharply, I ran to call 911 but fell asleep as I crossed the barrier between light and darkness and just now woke up a quick snow fell as the darkness engulfed us. praying for the heroes that are still out there.....

The variety of fishing and hunting in NY can not be found elsewhere. what it lacks in big game it makes up for in variety and abundance of small game, long seasons and liberal bag limits. If you consider all the adjoining or nearby states, and you should, with their variety and different season dates, you have a diversity and season length that can not be matched anywhere else in the country. For instance if you combine Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut and half of New York you have the area of the state of Wyoming.....Wow, Wyoming is huge, huh? Yes, but another way of viewing it is I have to drive across half of NY and all of New England before my season changes or I have a different hunting or fishing opportunity, whereas in that same distance a NY'er can hunt 7 different states and everything from crabbing and flounder fishing to wilderness trout, sea ducks to grouse with turkey and bear and moose and deer thrown in for added fun. Upland hunting, shore hunting, mountain hunting, farmland hunting, freshwater or salt, it is a matter of a few hours ride and you are in a whole new region in NY. Something very lacking here in Wyoming where my county is the size of Vermont and the terrain does not change much if at all in a 10 hour ride at highway speed. I would make use of and appreciate all that New York and the surrounding areas offer, and I certainly would never recommend that anyone who loves hunting and fishing move from NY to WY, you'll be disappointed, and sorely miss the short distances you only had to travel to have a huge variety of sport back in NY.

I'm going to walk down the driveway to the mailbox as soon as the eclipse is over, I don't want to fall asleep while walking, thinking it is night time. very smoky and humid today 26%, so I'm in no rush to go outside and tucker myself out getting mail.
-
wind is changing , coming from the south, can't ask for better timing. it will blow this smoke out of here and it's going to be pretty near perfect for the eclipse in an hour or so, if I heard right. I don't get into such things but I can be bothered to look out the window for 2 minutes.
-
pretty perfect conditions for watching the eclipse here
-
with 1 million tenderfeet jamming in shoulder to shoulder to see what a cloudy day looks like? Serene my adz....you can't move on the roads in there today I bet. other than the smoke it's another typical blue sky clear day, I'm having fun watching the distracted drivers.

for the first time ever game and fish brought roll off dumpsters to our town so we could get rid of the winter killed deer on our property. that said, there are still thousands of deer in town hundreds of elk, bighorns and bison so you don't even notice the difference, more critters get killed by tourist cars than winter kill, the only noticeable drop is there are hardly any rabbits. bear season started today, turkey last week. best states for non res to hunt big game is CO, ID then MT, no idea why anyone would hunt WY as a non res.
