    Good eye! I tell ya, it wasn't easy finding a good LH rifle! No, the bags were placed that way just to hold the rifle in place for a quick pic. Again, good eye.

    My plans for a hunt this morning were scrapped to take care of some unexpected work stuff. Hopefully I'll get out tomorrow afternoon without a hitch.

    Great time in the woods this morning hunting with grampy! We had some action before daylight, but yotes may have scattered the deer on us. All in all, a great hunt with a great guy! Gave my home turf a shot for the pm, but the neighbor's kids apparently had another football party and their non-stop yelling echoed through the woods right til closing time. 0-fer-6 in home sits now. I'm headed back out tomorrow am before work, but don't have a clue which spot to play. Only have a few more days to punch this xbow ticket!

    For me, it starts with keeping my head, hands and feet warm. I wear a fleece balaclava and carhart watchman's cap. Next, a Cabela's hand warmer muff and regular Mechanix gloves with hand warmers tucked inside. Lastly, I'll either double up smartwool socks with handwarmers inside uninsulated Muck boots if it's reasonably cool or now I have a pair of Baffin -140* rated boots for when it's frozen out. My primary cold weather gear are the Cabela's MT050 jacket and pants. I wear heavyweight polypro base layers under that and add a fleece zip up jacket if I want extra warmth. The key is to keep the wind from running through you and this system does exactly that.

    Agree with the others that there are many adequate choices out there. I picked up a Nikon Aculon that works well enough for ranging. It isn't the best at a picking up objects in low light, but other than that I have no complaints. I also wrapped it in black sports tape to deaden the plastic sound in case of any inadvertant knocks while hunting.

    No joy. Pulled my creek cam card and now it's clear that the deer are avoiding the flooded creek. Last deer pic is this nice 8 pt way back on Oct 26th! I'll have to stick to my higher ground spots for now.

    This time last year I was seeing multiple deer nearly every sit during xbow. So far after 4 sits, nada. Something is off and I need to solve that puzzle soon if I'm going to harvest my first archery deer.

    4th sit, zero deer. I did see a red tailed hawk so that was cool. Hoping the frosty morning tomorrow will have them on their feet.

Too bad so sad, you should have listened 6 years ago.

    I think all those deer I saw last year knew I was a rookie with the xbow and felt safe. This year word must have spread throughout the deer herd that I have returned as a stone cold killer! #deathfromabove

    Low expectation pm hunt proved to be just that. It's weird, I'm seeing deer around here, but not during my hunts!
