That buck in the 9/8 pic looks beefy.

Best of luck this season, TF! Has to be quite challenging to take up bow hunting at this stage in your career.

Loving the "summer" weather this weekend! If I wasn't on Dad duty, I'd be hiking Mt. Washington right now. Summit temps are forecasted to be below freezing with the wind chills.

I'm 99% certain this will be my next xbow. Shot one yesterday with the Accu50 and it felt pretty good. The new X4 is well-balanced, pretty light and priced great! However, that price is kept down by using a trigger that seems more like a 5-6 lb pull than a 3.5 lb, a non-illuminated optic and a minimal 3 included bolts. Also, I'm not sure if the rail uses the same pressed carbon as the TenPoints or not. I was going to test fire an Eclipse RCX, but both xbows are very similar in size and shoot at 360 fps. However, the Titan RCX package that uses an Eclipse RCX front end starts at $325 more than the WR X4; the Eclipse RCX itself is north of $1000. I also wanted to test the new Shadow, but damned if I couldn't cock the thing! Using a rope cocker, the pull weight at the top is very tough and the string surprisingly never engaged the safety for me. I tried another rope with the same result. It's my fault for not going to an archery specialist who would be much more familiar with this xbow as I had to be doing something wrong. Suffice to say it's really nice, but probably should be packaged with either the Accu50 or new AccuPro crank. I'll wait til NY drops the silly limb width law before spending over $1k on an xbow.

That's great! Knocking out booze and refined sugars will melt the pounds off.

What knife will you be using for hunting this year ?

Havalon Piranta. -
Filet with peppercorn sauce.

Chianti's in Saratoga. Great food and wine, but the beer selection is meh. ETA: Beers came first, then the wine. Later we went to the Wine Bar on Broadway and I capped off the night with an Ashton and Grand Mariner (no pics).

What about running that unit into a Rubbermaid container? I have a SUV and there is a plug in the back. -
Thanks! Congrats to your coworker as well!

I was just reading about that while looking for camping recommendations. Looks promising!

Thank you! What a cool story about your Mt. Washington trip! Man, I have always wanted to see a moose in the Dacks, but no dice so far. I've been looking at places to camp or stay the night before starting on the Ammonoosuc trail. Kinda far to make this a day trip.

Good to know! Thanks Dave!

Thank you Salmon Run! Hope you can return to good health soon enough to make that NPT goal of yours! I'm still looking for an opening to do Mt. Washington. This one is a little trickier to plan than the ADK's because of the weather and distance from home. Hopefully, I can do it this month.

What's the worst legal caliber that people use for hunting deer

Oh, I agree with you that slugs can be devastating. My response was tongue-in-cheek, mostly. -

grampy pretty much nailed it. I was going to say slugs because I hear so many hunters blasting multiple times at deer. -
Happy Birthday!

And the price is right too. Up here, a 6-pack after tax and deposit is $13. Fair value for a craft IPA. Many other 4-packs that are marginally better tasting (at best) run about $15-$17. Fun to try, but not to buy en masse. I will gladly pay $18 for Equilibrium's MC2, but couldn't catch the few local offerings when they sprung up.

I almost reached for a barrel-aged stout, but this has been going down nicely of late.

Christmas came a little early! Awesome!!
