Chilly, wind in my favor and saw 2 deer on walk in. Promising start to the season!

Sometimes I bring a small bag of venison jerky, but I'm put at the moment. I have a planned stop back to the house by 2:30 when I switch up spots. Suppose the scent free wash wipes could suffice for TP in a pinch!

The xbow permission slip thingy? Check!

12 hours to go! It's about dang time!!!

Definitely hope to christen the butt out and game cart tomorrow!

Triple checking the bag so all I need to do is shower, guzzle coffee, dress and go in the am. Everything except my headlamp and cell phone is here. Did I forget anything? Xbow & bolts not shown, but ready. I'm walking out the back door 1/2 to 1 mile so no need to pack for every possible scenario.

On flat ground, I go to 18' with 4 LW climbing sticks. There are knots in my hoist rope at 17' and 20' to determine the height from ground to platform.

Bought it in their Delaware store. No tax. http://www.cabelas.com/product/hunting/hunting-blinds/ground-blinds-accessories/pc/104791680/c/104702580/sc/104365080/herters-ground-blind/2555337.uts?slotId=9

I didn't plan to buy a ground blind, but for $49 net this deal was too good to pass up. Cabela's is running a $69 sale on these right now (normally $99) with another $20 back if you spend $100. Can't go wrong at this price. Hub system, shoot-thru mesh, silent slide windows and good camo pattern. Size is very roomy for one, may want the XL version for 2 persons. Only cons I can see are cheap standard tent pegs and some pinholes. For my purposes, I don't have my own private land to hunt, so worst-case scenario having a good $50 blind stolen would be better than having a great $300-$400 blind stolen.

No clue. I have yet to see it in the store, but the reviews are solid. Hate to suggest something I haven't personally used and abused so this is nothing more than a 'check it out'.

Just wanted to say that 5 am and 7 am updates to the Beer thread are awesome!

This is the one I keep meaning to buy, but I haven't caught it on sale yet. http://www.cabelas.com/product/hunting/hunting-treestands/treestand-accessories/pc/104791680/c/104783580/sc/104649480/hawk-wingspan-ultimate-tree-umbrella/1837467.uts?slotId=3

Wondered If Anyone Would Bring This Up...
Jdubs replied to DirtTime's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
The family is a victim of a crime and you're speculating that he may be guilty of fraud? Wow. Glenville police already released pics and info on persons of interest. At no point in their press release did I see anything about this burglary being investigated as possible insurance fraud. -
The youtube hunters who try to sound smart and mimmick the top guys by whispering every conceivable hunting factor with zero reference as to why. "We waited 42 days for the perfect east north westly southern wind to hunt this stand." Um, what?

4 more days...

Far luckier than my gf. This was from a micro burst last year.

How much do you shoot your deer rifle/shotguns
Jdubs replied to Buckmaster7600's topic in Rifle and Gun Hunting
Same. I get plenty of trigger time on my firearms, but just a couple of boxes on my deer rifle. Expected kill shots would be in the 30-60 yd range, but I'd be fine at 100-200. There isn't much need for me to run 1500 rounds of pricey factory ammo down the pipe. -
Next time you see that yote, jump it, choke 'em out and then drown it in that standing water! Maybe then we can forget about those pink argyle hunting socks.
