  1. Bleak? How do you figure? The starting pitching didn't come together. Some hangover from WS and some injuries. Other than that, the Sox have tons of young talent. Near the top in offense and defense. All they need is a couple starting pitchers and they are good to go. Pitching doomed them. I would bet that Spankee fans will feel the same way when their starting rotation can't get them past the Astros. What is bleak about the best defensive outfield in the league? MVP contenders on the left side of the infield.? All of those players are young. MVP contender at DH? Solid young catcher that can throw and hit. Rookie IF who can play multiple positions and hit for power. I hate the Yankees, but I'm not going to stray from the facts. The Sox have a talented young core. So do the Yankees. But neither team has the kind of pitching that wins game in October.
  2. So happy for you both. You done good! A memorable trip indeed...
  3. I should be able to take any day I want from mid October until mid December. Our seasons are shorter here in VT, so there will be days I can work between seasons. Definitely taking Nov 9 - Dec 1 for rifle season.
  4. Should be able to shoot 3 deer, possibly 4 with the new changes, but only ONE buck. I don't need to shoot more than one, but I'd really like to keep hunting bucks. Worst case scenario, I shoot a buck during bow season and won't be able to rifle hunt in VT at all. Lame. Either have to pass all bucks during archery season, or not hunt during rifle season. They claim it's a management strategy, but the very small percentage of folks who kill 2 bucks a year aren't going to make or break their management plans. Mostly, I don't like change, which is probably selfish. I'm not worried about being able to fill the freezer, I just prefer to shoot bucks. Haven't taken a doe in 11 years.
  5. Xbows for everyone next year in Vermont, along with a bunch more major changes all at once. The state does a 10 year deer "plan". Oh boy. I may have to head to NY next season when VT goes to one buck!
  6. They could jump it. The 2 layers give them trouble because they lack the depth perception to gauge the space between the outer and inner fence. I had decent success with a setup like this, although my 2 fences were a bit closer together.
  7. I shoot a 20" Carbon Express Piledriver.. I'm not sure what it weighs or what the spine is, but it was rated for the 185lb draw weight of my Sniper 370. I shot a 100 grain Jakhammer mechanical broadhead last year, mostly because I already had some. I don't think that broadhead weight is a huge factor. I would lean toward a heavier/more rugged head for use with a crossbow.
  8. How come? I thought you were a big believer in low power optics for quick target acquisition.
  9. I shoot Piledrivers out of my 370. I had success with Wasp Jakhammer broadheads.
  10. Making venison cheesesteaks with my last 2 packages of steak. It's a good thing/bad thing sort of thing.
  11. The 372 is one of the greatest saws ever made, especially the pre-Xtorq ones. The old style saws last a long dang time. I have owned 3, as well as a newer Xtorq model. IMO it is the standard for grown up saws. Nothing wrong with Stihls, but I'm a Husky guy all the way. Good luck with your new purchases!
  12. Wasp Jak-hammers. If for some reason I had to change, I would go with NAP Spitfires.
  13. Must be rednecks working for Kelly Blue Book, Edmunds, Cars.com, JD Power, Car & Driver, Consumer Reports etc. They all recognize the term. The term "light duty" is more common, but applies to half-tons vs "heavy duty" which denotes 3/4 tons. If you went to a dealership and told them you were interested in a half-ton work truck, I'm pretty sure they would know exactly what you were talking about.
  14. Good point. Also, most of the published payloads are put out by manufacturer.
  15. I read Ridgeline and Tacoma. A Tundra is a half ton. I drove one and like it, but wouldn't want one as a work truck.
  16. They may not use the term in advertising, but everyone knows that an F150 is a half ton pickup. I guess I'm done with this. I'll pass on the petty arguing. Our entire measurement system is outdated compared to the metric system. Why don't you piss & moan about that?
  17. Yep, you're wrong. Maybe stick with baseball.
  18. They basically invented the pickup truck, so yeah.
  19. As I wrote above, all US truck makers use numbers.
  20. You want each model to have its payload in its name? Makes no sense. It does accurately separate the classes of trucks. What other trucks? Dodge, Toyota and Nissan all make full sized trucks. All US truck makers use 1500/2500 or 150/250 to designate half ton vs 3/4 ton etc. Tacoma, Frontier, Colorado, Ridgeline etc were never made for a payloads measured in tons. You don't like it, but it's been used for 50+ years and I really doubt that will change anytime soon.
  21. They're not full-sized trucks, so their payload isn't important. The phrase has been around longer than Biz has been alive. If you want actual payloads you look them up. The phrase just identifies the class.
  22. Biz owns a pickup for a month and has the truck industry all figured out! A F150 or a 1500 are half tons. An F250 or 2500 are 3/4 tons. It's tradition. No reason to get all worked up!
  23. I heard bears prefer Glocks since they don't have to fool with the safeties.
  24. 90% of the time I hunt alone. I have got the feeling Bionic mentioned, but less so over the years. I have hunted the same land for 30+ years, so there is a certain comfort level. It's farmland, so it's not "in the middle of nowhere". The only thing that I worry about is trespassers, thieves and poachers. I prefer hunting alone, but occasionally team up with one friend during ML season.
  25. WTF is this? You bought a "cheat" package? SInce when do your feet leave the ground? Are you kidding, or converted? Either way, good luck this season. Some nice looking bucks on camera. Maybe hunting out of a tree will put one of them in your freezer!
