Hmm, so that could be a problem...the zone we typically hunt is the tail end of bow and muzzleloader that week, neither of which I do. What about heading a little further south in NY, any guides there? Google turns up few, one out in Long Island and one in Stuyvesant. No chance I'm going to hunt Long Island and get chewed on by Ticks and the other is up North as well. Its been pretty warm the past several years on opening week and there have been ticks all over some of our deer, I was hoping to be in some snow up North to cut down on the parasites but I guess I'd take my chances wherever the good hunting is. Any other spots which are recommended here for rabbit? They don't necessarily have to be scenic in this case.

Hello everyone! Glad to have found this forum, theres not a whole bunch of info I found on Google about hunting in NY - most pointed right here in fact. I'm wondering if anyone here might have some insight to share. I head to NY from Fl to hunt opening day almost every year with family however typically just hunt deer and bear. This year I was thinking of doing a bit of rabbit hunting the week before but have never been rabbit hunting anywhere, let alone in NY. I've found some guides online who provide the dogs for a reasonable fee in the Adirondaks but am not sure if the hunting is any good up there and am hoping for a little advice. The other side of this coin - the misses (who hates hunting, naturally) wants to get away for a weekend so I figured I'd kill two birds with one stone - take her up to something scenic in the Adirondaks then fly her back and do some hunting before heading out with family for opening day. The question: is any part of this plan bad/crazy/could better be done somewhere else in NY? Would prefer not to cross into Vermont or Canada since we already pay for the NY hunting license, etc. Weather is usually pretty drab and awful where we hunt in mid November, I was hoping up North more in the mountains might be a little more tolerable? I'm pretty open to suggestions here if anyone has any. Thanks in advance!
