  1. Your problem is you don't know squat. You find a thread Google the topic find some info. Then make controversial comments to make it like you know what your talking about. Most people that comment on the threads , comment off the top of their heads or their life experiences. You my friend quote Google. Now I know why you comment on every thread that has ever been posted on this site. Jack of all trades master of none. And to answer a question and tell someone to google it is just your way of saying you don't know squat. Same old stuff from you causing trouble and contraversy , trying to show how smart you are. The guys on this site have your number. From all the mp I have that say same about you. Google that!!!!!!
  2. Please give more information on this statement you made. You dont have to be attached to any natural gas system for a CNG filling station. They use storage tanks and high pressure pumps. Where are these CNG stations,? Who are the Gas companies who supply the gas. Explain size of storage tanks and their capacity. What are high pressure pumps? What pressure does the CNG station operate at. How does the gas get to the CNG station. Who used this cng station What town is it in? Give address How many CNG stations are there in your area give number and address. That way I will know what you know about other than NYC
  3. There is no substitute for experience. And alittle knowledge can lead to assumptions. Each CNG station has to be reviewed and approved by the NYS Public Service Commission so most to the procedures are the same no matter where you build them.
  4. I think you would argue with a dead man. I don't know it all but I know quite a bit on this topic. I worked for a gas company for 37 years and personall installed two Cng stations for the DEPT of Transportation in NYC. What's your expertise in this area?See you removed the part of your comment where you told me to take my head out of my ass...
  5. It dosen't thak mush to rattle your cage and the insults fly. All anyone on this site has to do is disagree with you. My point is there is no demand and thus these cars are not being made in mass. Cng was mostly for companies with large fleet of vehicles that pull out of one location, also state and Dot vehicles not much acess for private vehicles. CNG, Electric, and fuel cells are was off in the future. Simply too expensive and on inferstructure . If you have to fill a CNG station from a compresses gas truck you don't need a CNG station.. Just shown there is no need for the infrestructure for such a small population of vehicles. The idea of a cng station is unlimited fuel on demand. If you have to truck it in you might as well stay with gas.
  6. There are less than 200 CNG stations in NY and only a hanful of hydrogen stations. So what's your point? Lets get serious the money is down state so where do you think the technology will start first? Where are the most coustomer Upstate or down state. The only problem is we have more stringent environmental restrictions than upstate.
  7. They said agent orange was harmless too. Sometimes it's hard to believe the gov't on anything they say. The workers on the railroads had health problems with defoliants sprayed along the tracks. It's like we will worry when they try to sue, then they tie you up in court till you die. Then 20yrs later will say it was hazardous, too late so don't let the gas drilling companies tell you the chemicals are safe.
  8. I have seen the windmills in Pa. near Carbondale two weeks ago. Just looks wierd, out of place like some futuristic world .As far as CNG stations go you have to be attached to a High pressure Natural gas system, There aren't many around compared to gas stations and not many fleet vehicles order CNG vehicles. I know a few in NYC installed by CON ED but they were for Dept of transportation vehicles. It was like a fad then some companies went back to gas vehicles. CNG will never replace gasoline ever.
  9. You got that right, follow the money. The oil and gas companies have been throwing millions of dollars lobbying the state capitol. So I think I know what the final out come will be, they will just stall for a while to make it look good. I hate POLITICS AND POLITICIANS
  10. Elmer you know that, that truck would never be allowed on the streets of NYC. We have a gas company that delivers our gas from a gas line in the street in front of my house. No need to truck it in. I beleive they are for rural deliveries. Areas that don't have a gas distribution system.
  11. They said Love Canal was safe too, look what happened there, total disaster.
  12. We wil not have cheap energy as a result of fracking and fracking could result in water issues. That you can bet on. No conspiracy theory here, just the truth. Elmer how many CNG cars are there on the road? Can you tell me where the nearest CNG station is in your area? Probably not, but there are hundreds of gas stations all over the place. Remember gas is trucked to the gas station, natural gas you need a gas pipeline from the sourse to the gas station. How much do you think that will cost? forgetaboutit. It will never lower your energy costs. JMHO silly rabbit
  13. When I was younger I had crews that tapped transmission and Facility lines to instal regulator satations. Some for power houses directly off the facility line at 350# pressure. Others to reinforce the gas distribution system. High, Medium and Low pressure systems. Saw a gas fire on the news tonight in Rocland county. Seems a welder was working on the gas main when it ignited, those thing should never happen we had procedures to that type work. Someone is in deep shit, OSHA will be all over that one.
  14. Steve, the amount you think the gas companies will give you will not be enough to retire. I also have 20 acres and a landsman offered me $550 an acre last year for 3 years. He said that's the going rate. How could you retire on that? In 2008 our club was offered $1800 an acre, prices are down and so is the price of gas. Though it has been up on the stock market the past few days. But still not enough to make it profitable for the gas companies to drill. I know how you feel about the taxes I pay high taxes too on Long Island and my house and property up state. But I would never let them drill on my property, I love the land and the privacy.
  15. I don't think you guys wil be cashing any checks soon. One of my hunting buddies bought 50 acres in 2009 thinking he was going to hit the jackpot, still waiting. This will have an adverse effect, problems getting home owners insurance, land valves going down, taxes going up. Not to mention possible environmental and health effects. So what do you get for your money? What about your neighbors , traffic, noise, pollution etc, no more pease and quiet. Progress or greed?
  16. Culver you don't know what you are talking about. Check on line and check out Honeoye Storage Corporation. Down state gas companies draw down the gas in the winter then inject it back into the ground. origionally these wells were rated at about 800# not they are rated at over 1100#. This has made it possible to inject more gas for storage. These old gas wells were tapped in a medias sandstone where the gas is in the sand stone once extracted now under pressure in the summer months the gas is put back in the storage fields through the Tennessee gas pipeline. I know I have worked with this company in the past, I scheduled withdrawl and injection rates. Have been up to the storage fields, met the management etc.
  17. What you call a functioning well may be an old well that Is now used for storage. Where the gas has been depleted, then they inject gas back into the old well. I know this for a fact in the Honeoye area. These wellls are only used when gas is not available from major suppliers. This area is a storage area not a producing well area. This has nothing to do with fracking, it's how the natural gas business works.
  18. Antler it takes millions of gallons for just one well, not thousands. The back wash is hazardous waste and we have no way to treat this problem. Don't know how that can be considered safe for anyone, land or man. Our treatment plante are not capable of treating this hazardous backwash.
  19. The fracking process is much more deviatating to the land and surrounding area than the old vertical drilling method. Most of those old wells have been tapped out years ago. Once a well is fracked it can be fracked again when the flow of gas starts to slow down. Making a second chance for things to go wrong.
  20. This guy campaigned on transparant gov't This guy said he was a uniter This guy said he would go line by line and veto unwarrented gov't spending This guy said he would be president of all the people This guy talks alot of Bull shit. This guy is trying to force Obama care down out throaths This guy side steps congress and makes it legal for over 800,000 illegals to be legal because he say's it's the right thing to do. (I could go on, I think you get my point) Remember come November
  21. I can't see the Feds giving funds to build the inferstructure. Remember this is private industry, but I would like to know the plan on how they plan to beef up our roadways. There are alot of dirt roads up state that are damaged by loggers and some have weight restrictions. How will they get around that? There is two types of natural gas fields one more valvable and therefore more profitable than the other. The dry gas fields are more profitable the wet, which we have less so. As far as the poor peolpe getting money for their lease of acergae to the gas companies, that they need to survive is a bunch of bunk. Even before this fracking issue started in NY, these people had their land and weren't selling any. So if they needed the money how come they never sold their land to make ends meet. You guys are hunters and many have bought land, and I am sure they tried to get top dollar, no one was selling the land cheap to make ends meet. I think the land owners upstste who need the money are the ones who own only a few acres, not the pro fracking group that own hundreds and possibly thousands of acres.
  22. They like to say it will make us less dependant on foreign oil. If you really analize it this is a false statement. Even if we were full force into fracking it wouldn't replace our dependency on foreign oil. The price of natural gas is at a 10 year low so it's not profitable for companies to drill. Chesapeake Gas stock was over $60 in 2008 now it is just over $19 . There is no inferstructure to deliver the natural gas to every gas station that sells gasoline.
  23. What do you think of the Govenors maybe plan to allow hydrofracking in the counties that border Northern Pa. border? Is the potential risk worth gains? How will it affect the area. As a side note a friend of mine visited Pa and was talking to the people in the area where hydrofracking is allowed. He got the local gossip and one thing he did mention is a lot of hunting camps have been broken into since the fracking has started. Like to hear your rational.
