  1. Lets not argue about Bows, guns, ML or crossbows and just be thankful that we can hunt and NYS hasn't taken our our guns away.
  2. Thanks Buzz, Happy New Year
  3. Have a Barnett Jackal it recommends 125 gr, broad head. Wonder what would happen If I used 100 gr.
  4. Guys what is a big bore air gun? Saw something about regulations for big game hunting in NYS Never heard of such a gun/rifle!!
  5. Common practice for who exactly. Definitely not me and not the guys I hunt wit for the past 35 years. Who is Shame facedly running from the question. Where was that mentioned? I have taught my 4 sons to respect life not to shoot something living for target practice. You want target practice Doc go to the range. Do you really think its an ethical thing to do? Just what the anti hunters and gun activist want to hear !! Doc, that may be your opinion or spin but not everyone would agree. Every living thing is put on this earth for a reason and I am sure it wasn't for target practice. And that's MHO
  6. I think the intent of this post was the shooting and leaving eatable game to rot in the woods and not be consumed. Not the philosophy of hunting . But what we think of this terrible waste of natures resources. It seems that at times we get off the topic and rant about everything but the topic. Maybe the rats and wood chucks can be another post. My take is if I shoot it I eat it, just to kill something and leave it in the wood is sick twisted person.
  7. Live from kitchen, was inspired by this chili. am making a stew with Moose , Venison, and bear meat. Will be delicious.
  8. Packing it in for this season. It was the first time in a long time that I have been skunked. But reading this thread I am not the only one. I can't complain I did get a bear so I am a very lucky guy no complaints. But will miss the venison, there is always next year God willing. Was good reading all your posts look froward to next year. Merry Christmas and a Healthy New Year to you all.
  9. Hunting in 4W, woke up to snow and 25 degrees. This is last day for me this year. Good luck and good hunting.

  13. I know, I only work part time these days. Only 5 days a month and I may cut that down soon.
  14. You think thats bad try driving closer to NYC . I drive 33 miles to work and the drive home takes 1.5 hrs one way. Too many cars and people thats why I love it up state.
  15. Seeing as the weather isn't freezing , will try to do some bow/ muzzle loader/crossbow hunting next week. Never done that but will give it a try. Then close up the house for the winter.
  16. Sure glad I have a NYS wildlife viewing License. Had 6 does within 15 yards, can't shoot them .NO DMP this year. Had a nice spike at 60 yards, also can't shoot him, need to be 3pts on one side. Can't wait to not shoot anything again next year. :crying:

  18. My cabin was broken into a few years ago. It could have been worse but we lived through it. The Delaware County Sherrif's office has a program that will check your property while you are not there. It's free, just call and register your property and they will keep an eye on it. They will also give you two signs that state this property is under survalliance of the Delaware county Sherrif's office.
  19. Just got back from a nice slow still hunt in the rain. Saw absolutely nothing, got wet but had a nice morning in nature. Life is good.
